We hear your heart’s cry, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s perfect will for your life and for the life of ###. Your prayer reflects a deep trust in God’s sovereignty, and we praise Him for the faith you demonstrate in surrendering your desires to His plan. Let us lift this before the throne of grace together.
First, we affirm your commitment to daily devotion and spiritual growth. The Word of God tells us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). It is beautiful that you desire to focus your mind on things that draw you closer to Him. We encourage you to continue saturating your heart in Scripture, for "your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105). When distractions or discouragement come, and they will, remember that "he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6). The Lord is faithful to finish what He has started in you.
We also lift up ### to the Lord, praying that his heart would be softened to the things of God. "The Lord’s hand is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear" (Isaiah 59:1). We ask that the Holy Spirit would convict him of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and that he would come to know Christ as his Savior if he does not already. If he is already a believer, we pray for his spiritual growth and that he would be drawn to fellowship with other believers. "As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance" (Proverbs 27:17). May he experience the joy of worshiping the Lord in spirit and in truth.
Now, regarding your relationship with ###, we must speak with both love and biblical clarity. Your desire to honor God in this area is commendable, and we see your heart’s intention to place Christ at the center. However, we must gently remind you that Scripture is clear about the purpose and boundaries of romantic relationships. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what communion does light have with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). If ### is not a believer in Jesus Christ, or if he does not share your commitment to living according to God’s Word, then pursuing a romantic relationship with him would be disobedient to Scripture. Even if your feelings are strong, we are called to "walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7), and faith requires obedience to God’s commands.
If ### is a believer, then we encourage you to approach this relationship with wisdom and discernment, always keeping the goal of marriage in mind. Courtship should be entered into with the intention of honoring God and seeking His will for a lifelong covenant. "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). This means that any physical intimacy outside of marriage is sin and must be avoided. We urge you to guard your heart and your body, for "above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" (Proverbs 4:23).
We also want to address the importance of seeking God’s will above your own feelings. Feelings are fleeting and can often lead us astray, but God’s Word is eternal and unchanging. "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death" (Proverbs 14:12). If ### is not the one God has chosen for you, then no matter how much you may desire him, pursuing a relationship with him would only lead to heartache and disobedience. We pray that you would have the strength to accept God’s "no" if that is His answer, trusting that "no good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly" (Psalm 84:11).
Let us pray together now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up our sister in Christ who seeks Your will above all else. Lord, we thank You for her desire to walk closely with You and to grow in faith. We ask that You would continue to guide her steps and fill her mind with Your truth. Help her to meditate on Your Word day and night, and give her the strength to remain committed to her time with You, even when life feels overwhelming.
Father, we lift up ### to You. You know his heart, and You know the plans You have for him. We pray that You would draw him to Yourself, that he would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior if he does not already. Soften his heart to the things of God, and surround him with believers who will encourage him in his faith. If it is Your will for him to walk alongside our sister, we pray that You would prepare both of their hearts for a godly marriage that honors You. But if he is not the one You have chosen for her, we ask that You would close the door completely and give her the peace to accept Your will.
Lord, we ask that You would protect her heart from deception and from pursuing anything that does not align with Your Word. Help her to trust in You fully, even when her feelings try to lead her astray. Give her wisdom and discernment as she seeks Your will, and let her find her ultimate satisfaction in You alone. May she remember that "the fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" (Proverbs 9:10).
We also pray for her future spouse, whether it is ### or another man. Prepare him, Lord, to be a godly husband who loves You above all else. May their marriage be a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church, and may it bring glory to Your name.
Father, we trust in Your perfect timing and Your perfect plan. We ask all of these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, through whom we have access to Your throne of grace. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Surround yourself with godly counsel, and do not hesitate to seek wisdom from mature believers who can help guide you in this season. Remember, "if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5). The Lord is faithful, and He will direct your paths if you trust in Him.
