Lord show me the way

Disciple of Prayer
Heavenly Father, Lord, I know things haven't been easy for me. You see my struggles, You know what is happening now, and You know what lies ahead. Please show me the way and guide my steps. Help me get back on track and become who You have called me to be. Help me focus my mind, understand and remember what I read, and stay committed to my daily devotionals. Fill my thoughts with things that draw me closer to You and keep me growing in faith each day. Lord, I also lift up ### to You. You know his heart, and You know the plans You have for his life. I pray that he will continue seeking You and that one day he may want to join me in worship and fellowship at church. Father, if ### and I are meant to walk this journey together, help us serve You faithfully and keep You at the center of our relationship. But if he is not the one You have chosen for me, please close the door and give me the strength, wisdom, and peace to accept Your will. Lord, I feel in my heart that he may be the one, but I place my trust not in my feelings, but in You. Let Your will be done above all else. Guide us, protect us, and lead us according to Your perfect plan. In Jesus' name, Amen. ❤️🙏

We hear your heart’s cry, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s perfect will for your life and for the life of ###. Your prayer reflects a deep trust in God’s sovereignty, and we praise Him for the faith you demonstrate in surrendering your desires to His plan. Let us lift this before the throne of grace together.

First, we affirm your commitment to daily devotion and spiritual growth. The Word of God tells us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). It is beautiful that you desire to focus your mind on things that draw you closer to Him. We encourage you to continue saturating your heart in Scripture, for "your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105). When distractions or discouragement come, and they will, remember that "he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6). The Lord is faithful to finish what He has started in you.

We also lift up ### to the Lord, praying that his heart would be softened to the things of God. "The Lord’s hand is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear" (Isaiah 59:1). We ask that the Holy Spirit would convict him of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), and that he would come to know Christ as his Savior if he does not already. If he is already a believer, we pray for his spiritual growth and that he would be drawn to fellowship with other believers. "As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance" (Proverbs 27:17). May he experience the joy of worshiping the Lord in spirit and in truth.

Now, regarding your relationship with ###, we must speak with both love and biblical clarity. Your desire to honor God in this area is commendable, and we see your heart’s intention to place Christ at the center. However, we must gently remind you that Scripture is clear about the purpose and boundaries of romantic relationships. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and lawlessness have? Or what communion does light have with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). If ### is not a believer in Jesus Christ, or if he does not share your commitment to living according to God’s Word, then pursuing a romantic relationship with him would be disobedient to Scripture. Even if your feelings are strong, we are called to "walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7), and faith requires obedience to God’s commands.

If ### is a believer, then we encourage you to approach this relationship with wisdom and discernment, always keeping the goal of marriage in mind. Courtship should be entered into with the intention of honoring God and seeking His will for a lifelong covenant. "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). This means that any physical intimacy outside of marriage is sin and must be avoided. We urge you to guard your heart and your body, for "above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" (Proverbs 4:23).

We also want to address the importance of seeking God’s will above your own feelings. Feelings are fleeting and can often lead us astray, but God’s Word is eternal and unchanging. "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death" (Proverbs 14:12). If ### is not the one God has chosen for you, then no matter how much you may desire him, pursuing a relationship with him would only lead to heartache and disobedience. We pray that you would have the strength to accept God’s "no" if that is His answer, trusting that "no good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly" (Psalm 84:11).

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up our sister in Christ who seeks Your will above all else. Lord, we thank You for her desire to walk closely with You and to grow in faith. We ask that You would continue to guide her steps and fill her mind with Your truth. Help her to meditate on Your Word day and night, and give her the strength to remain committed to her time with You, even when life feels overwhelming.

Father, we lift up ### to You. You know his heart, and You know the plans You have for him. We pray that You would draw him to Yourself, that he would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior if he does not already. Soften his heart to the things of God, and surround him with believers who will encourage him in his faith. If it is Your will for him to walk alongside our sister, we pray that You would prepare both of their hearts for a godly marriage that honors You. But if he is not the one You have chosen for her, we ask that You would close the door completely and give her the peace to accept Your will.

Lord, we ask that You would protect her heart from deception and from pursuing anything that does not align with Your Word. Help her to trust in You fully, even when her feelings try to lead her astray. Give her wisdom and discernment as she seeks Your will, and let her find her ultimate satisfaction in You alone. May she remember that "the fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" (Proverbs 9:10).

We also pray for her future spouse, whether it is ### or another man. Prepare him, Lord, to be a godly husband who loves You above all else. May their marriage be a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church, and may it bring glory to Your name.

Father, we trust in Your perfect timing and Your perfect plan. We ask all of these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, through whom we have access to Your throne of grace. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Surround yourself with godly counsel, and do not hesitate to seek wisdom from mature believers who can help guide you in this season. Remember, "if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5). The Lord is faithful, and He will direct your paths if you trust in Him.

Thank you for sharing your heart with us. We’re praying with you as you seek God’s direction and renewal.

It’s clear you genuinely want to draw close to the Lord again, and that longing itself is evidence that He’s already at work in you. When we feel “off track,” it helps to remember that spiritual growth is a long, gradual journey, more like training for a marathon than sprinting to a finish line. The simple desire to open your Bible each day is a real step forward, not a small thing. So be patient with yourself.

A practical way to ease back into daily devotionals is to start small and low pressure. Choose a short book like the Gospel of Mark or read one Psalm a day. Set a regular time that fits your life, maybe ten quiet minutes with your morning coffee. The goal isn’t mastering a chapter but simply showing up to meet God there. Ask Him to help you focus and let what you read settle into your heart.

As for your relationship, we see a beautiful surrender in your prayer: you’re holding it open to God’s will, not just your feelings. While you wait for clarity, consider sharing this with a wise Christian friend or mentor who knows you well. Sometimes God uses others to help us see what our own hearts can’t. Keep bringing it back to Him, and trust that He will guide you step by step.

Let’s pray together:

Father, thank You for the deep desire You’ve planted in our friend’s heart to return to You. Give endurance for the small, faithful steps of daily time in Your Word, and clear their mind to understand and remember what they read. We lift up this relationship to You, grant wisdom, shut every door that isn’t from You, and fill both of them with Your peace. Help them walk in trust, not fear, as You lead according to Your perfect plan. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You feel it, don’t you, the ache of wanting to be on track and not quite knowing where your feet are landing. The days feel scattered, the thoughts unruly, and the path ahead seems hidden in a kind of mist. But here is what I want you to hold onto: the Shepherd does not need cloudless skies to lead His sheep. Your disquiet does not disqualify you; it is the very thing that sends your hand feeling for His. When a child wakes in the dark and cannot find the door, the cry itself brings the father. Your prayer, “Lord, show me the way,” is the cry He is already answering by drawing you closer. He is not standing at the end of a long road, tapping His foot. He is beside you, holding out His hand in the dimness, and the first step is not a great stride, it is simply trusting the hand you cannot fully see.

Think of a ship in deep water. The captain does not steer by what lies immediately beneath the keel, but by the fixed star above. Your daily devotionals, your wrestling to focus, your hunger to remember what you read, these are not a record of achievement you must present. They are you, lifting your eyes to the star. Even a flickering glance is not wasted. God does not give benefits in words only; He does us good. The very desire to return to Him is a benefit He has already bestowed. You did not manufacture that longing. The faintest flame of “I want to be Yours” is lit by the Spirit. So do not add to your weariness by fretting over the weakness of your own grip. The grip that saves is Christ’s grip on you. When you sit down with Scripture and your mind wanders like a sparrow in the rafters, do not be cast down. Speak to Him in the middle of it: “Lord, my mind is a flutter, quiet it with Your love.” A child learning to read does not despise the stumbles; the Father bends near and helps the lips form the words.

And now, about this man you lift up to the Lord. I can hear in your words both hope and a holy trembling, a sense that your heart has gone ahead, while your spirit hangs back to see what the Master will do. That is not weakness. That is the beginning of wisdom. You have done the one thing needful: you have placed him, and your hope, into the pierced hands. You ask God to lead him, to draw him into worship, to make him a companion in Christ. That is a prayer God loves to hear, because it seeks His glory and not simply a human comfort. But I hear too that hard, sweet sentence: “If he is not the one… close the door.” You have spoken it, and now you must let it lie on the altar without snatching it back for renegotiation. Our feelings can be like those curved mirrors in a garden, sometimes they make a thing appear much larger than it truly is, and we think one truth is the whole truth. Your heart says, “This may be the one,” but you have rightly answered yourself: “Not my feelings, but You.” That is faith in its truest posture, not the certainty of a coming marriage, but the certainty that God is good, and His choices are better than our best-laid plans.

Consider the woman at the tomb who said, “Do not uncover it, Lord, by now there is a bad odor.” She loved, but she feared to let the Savior near the place of her deepest loss. We are often the same. We want Jesus to enter our affections, yet we dread what He might ask us to surrender. But when He says, “Roll away the stone,” it is not to shame us, it is to raise what is dead into life. If this relationship is of Him, no stone can keep it shut. If it is not, a living Christ stands ready to fill the empty space with more than you can now imagine. The hardest act of trust is to let the door close without trying to prop it open with our own reasoning. But a closed door in God’s house is never a dead end, it is a wall that makes us turn and find the open door to a larger room.

I do not forget your daily battle either, the struggle to stay committed, to remember, to build the habit of prayer against the pull of a million trifles. Do not despise the day of small things. A seed underground is not idle; it is taking in moisture and preparing to break its shell. Your repeated, imperfect attempts at devotion are that hidden growth. The gardener values the potatoes under the soil more than the showy tops. Keep the time with the Lord even when it feels dry. A love-letter in a black-edged envelope is still a love-letter. Read it, and ask Him to pour His love abroad in your heart until you feel it. He will not fail you.

Let me leave you with this benediction: May the Lord Jesus Himself still the hurry of your mind, and let your spirit rest in the quiet certainty that He who began this good work in you will not lose the thread, nor leave off halfway. May He lead you in a plain path, not because you see far, but because you have fastened your hope on Him. And in the matter of your heart’s desire, may He grant you the peace that looks at a closed door and sees, in the same stroke, the welcome of an open window of grace. His will for you is love, not harm, and He will bring it to pass in the time that suits His wisdom. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
