Lord I ask complete restoration in relationship

Disciple of Prayer
Please stand in prayer with me for a couple, ### and ### who is very special and near to my heart and so many others who look upto them. They have been in a beautiful relationship for more than ### years. Over these years, I have watched their connection grow from the very beginning. I have personally seen their maturity, their deep respect, and the unconditional love they share for each other. However, for the past ### months, they have experienced a sudden separation. They are currently not on speaking terms. Seeing them go through this painful situation has really hurt me deeply because I know how genuine their bond is. Please pray along with me that God will break down their ego, pride, anger and walls of silence, heal their hearts, and fully restore their relationship. Even after all this they have not completely given up on each other. Pray flr their togetherness. Amen 🙏🏻

We join with you in lifting up this couple before the Lord and we share your burden for them, for we know how painful it is to watch two people who deeply care for each other experience separation and silence.

We appreciate your heart for restoration, yet we want to gently bring some biblical truth to this request. You asked for God to break down ego, pride, anger and walls of silence, and Scripture agrees that these are matters of the heart that must be addressed. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall Proverbs 16:18, and we are warned to not let the sun go down on our wrath, nor give place to the devil Ephesians 4:26-27. Anger and pride keep hearts hardened, while God calls us to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32 and to bear with one another and forgive any complaint, even as Christ forgave us Colossians 3:13. True restoration cannot happen without humility, repentance and forgiveness on both sides, speaking the truth in love Ephesians 4:15, and pursuing peace as far as it depends on us Romans 12:18.

We also want to speak lovingly about the nature of this relationship. You describe a beautiful relationship of many years. In Scripture a relationship between a man and a woman is called courtship when they are boyfriend and girlfriend, and its purpose is to discern marriage to another Christian believer, for marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. If this couple is not yet married, we pray that any restoration would be toward a holy, pure commitment that honors God, fleeing sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18, and not simply a return to dating without purpose. A godly marriage is lifelong between a man and a woman as God designed, and a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh Genesis 2:24. We also pray they are equally yoked as believers, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity 2 Corinthians 6:14. If there has been fornication or living together outside of marriage, we urge repentance and a commitment to purity, and if this were a same sex relationship, we must say plainly that such is not God's design and God calls it to repentance, as His design for intimacy is only within marriage between a man and a woman. Love covers a multitude of sins 1 Peter 4:8, but love also rejoices in the truth and does not excuse what God calls sin 1 Corinthians 13:6.

We notice you prayed to Lord and said Amen, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We say this in love because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. So we must come in His name and trust in His finished work on the cross for forgiveness of sins, believing that God raised Him from the dead, confessing Him as Lord Romans 10:9. We encourage you and this couple to place your full trust in Jesus Christ if you have not already.

We pray together now.

Father, we come before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this couple to You and ask that Your perfect will be done in their lives. You see their hearts, their hurt, their silence and their pride. We ask that You soften their hearts, convict them of any pride, anger or unforgiveness, and grant them humble and repentant spirits. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven us, to speak to one another with grace and truth, and to break down every wall that keeps them apart. If it is Your will, restore their communication and togetherness in a way that honors You, and lead them toward a godly marriage if they are a man and a woman called to be husband and wife, rooted in purity, respect and unconditional love that reflects Christ and the church Ephesians 5:25. If restoration to one another is not Your will, give them peace, healing and guidance to follow You faithfully. Heal the pain of our friend who intercedes for them as well, and help all involved to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness Matthew 6:33. We ask that You will restore to them the years that have been wounded Joel 2:25, and that love and faithfulness will abound. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray and to encourage this couple to seek wise, biblical counsel from a pastor, to pray together and separately, and to seek the Lord's will above their own desires, for we know that if we ask anything according to His will, He listens to us 1 John 5:14.

We hear how heavy this has been for you. Watching two people you care about and respect so deeply go from closeness to silence is painful, especially when you have seen their maturity and love over so many years and you know they have not fully let go of each other.

It is kind that you are standing with them in prayer rather than trying to fix it for them. When communication shuts down, it can look like pride or ego from the outside, but often there is hurt and fear underneath that needs time and healing before honest conversation can happen again. Reconciliation, when it is possible, takes willingness from both people to rebuild trust, and that cannot be rushed.

A steady way you can help is to stay a calm, caring presence without becoming the go-between. Keep praying for them, check in with each one with simple kindness when appropriate, and avoid carrying messages or pressing for details. If either of them is open to it, gently encouraging them to talk with a trusted pastor or counselor for wisdom could give them space to process what has happened.

We join you in asking for God's healing and direction for all of you.

Father, we lift this couple to You and we lift our friend who loves them. Soften what has grown hard, heal what is wounded, and quiet anger and fear with Your peace. Give each of them wisdom, humility, and clarity for the next step, and give our friend grace and patience as he waits and prays. Lead them all according to Your good will. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your sorrow over this separation has been heard, and we will indeed bear these two souls before the Lord with you, yet we must pray as Scripture teaches us to pray, seeking first what honours God and what is for their eternal good.

We do not ask the Lord to simply restore a relationship as it was, nor to bless a bond because it has been long or affectionate in the eyes of men. We ask Him to do a deeper work. Our first prayer is that each of them may know that there is forgiveness with God through Jesus Christ alone. As it has been preached among us, there is forgiveness, and that forgiveness is only to be obtained from God through Jesus Christ His Son. Whatever their sin has been, however hard their hearts have become, however long they have walked in pride or anger or silence, the promise stands that if they come with penitent hearts and put their trust in Christ, the Lord promises oblivion to all their debt and a completeness of pardon that makes them as though they had not been cast aside.

It is this forgiveness that must come first. Before there can be any true healing between one person and another, there must be forgiveness from God. He not only forgives at the first all our sins, but continues daily to forgive, and that forgiveness is eternal, not given and then taken back. When a soul has tasted such divine forgiveness, then that soul learns the pattern set before us, even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. Revenge is paltry, but forgiveness is great minded, and members of Christ's household should take large shares in this joint work of forgiving one another.

Therefore we will pray that the Lord will break down pride and anger and walls of silence, not merely that two persons might be together again, but that each heart might be humbled before God, that each might see their own need of Christ, repent of all sin, and learn to forgive as they have been forgiven. We will pray that God will heal their hearts, give them godly counsel, and lead them into all purity and holiness. If it be His will that they should walk together in this life, may that walk be in the holy covenant of marriage as God ordained, one man and one woman in a lifelong union, kept pure and honourable before Him. If it be not His will, may He give them grace to walk apart in holiness and peace, with hearts fully surrendered to Christ.

Let us pray together to that end. O Lord, Thou with whom there is forgiveness, look in mercy upon these two who are estranged. Bring each of them to true repentance and faith in Thy Son, wash them in His blood, and give them new hearts. Subdue their pride and anger, take away the hardness that keeps them from speaking in truth and love, and teach them to forgive even as Christ has forgiven. Govern their affections by Thy Word, keep them from all that is impure or unholy, and direct their steps according to Thy perfect will, that whatever the future of their earthly relationship, Thou mayest be glorified in them and they may be restored to Thyself. We ask this not for the sake of human desire, but for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom alone is our hope. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing this burden and for your love and concern for these two people. Your pain in seeing people you care about hurting and not speaking to each other is understandable, and it is good that you want to bring them before the Lord in prayer.

We want to stand with you in prayer in a way that honors God and seeks His best for both of them. Scripture teaches that our first and deepest need is reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ alone, who brought to an end the war between God and our nature and made peace through His blood. From that reconciliation flows all true healing and fellowship with others. Scripture also teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy and living together belong within that covenant. Because of this, we cannot ask God to simply bless or restore a romantic relationship as it is, but we can and do pray for each person individually according to God's wise and loving will.

We join you in praying that God will work in both hearts to break down pride, ego, anger and walls of silence. As you mentioned, pride is a great barrier to peace. God calls us to put pride down and to walk in humility, tenderness and forgiveness, not to condemn or trample on one another but to speak the truth in love and to be quick to forgive as we have been freely forgiven. Only His grace can soften hearts that have grown hard and heal the hurt that has built up over these months.

So we pray for them in this way: that each one would draw near to Jesus Christ, receive His forgiveness and be transformed by Him, that God would grant them humility to see their own part clearly, grace to forgive one another, and wisdom to seek godly counsel from mature believers and pastors. We pray that God would heal their hearts, give them clarity and purity in their decisions, and lead them in the path that most honors Him. If it is His will to lead them toward a God honoring marriage according to His design, we pray He would make that clear and help them pursue it in holiness and with counsel. If not, we pray He would give them peace to follow His will and to walk in obedience and wholeness before Him, whether together in godly friendship or apart.

We also pray for you as you care for them, that God would give you wisdom to love them well, to point them to Christ and to trust His good purposes even when restoration does not look the way we hope. May the Lord give comfort to all involved and be glorified in how these matters are resolved.

We will continue to pray that God's will be done in their lives and that His name be honored above all.
