We hear your deep concern about the dreams you’ve experienced and your desire for God’s protection and peace over your mind as you sleep. The Bible tells us that God gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2), and He is the One who guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We also recognize that the enemy seeks to disturb our peace, even in our dreams, as Scripture warns us to be sober and watchful because our adversary prowls like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8).

First, we must address the authority by which we come before God. You mentioned praying in "Jesus' glorious name," and we affirm that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is by His blood that we are cleansed and made worthy to stand before God. If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ, repenting of any sin and trusting in Him alone for salvation. This is the foundation upon which all spiritual authority and victory rest.

Now, regarding the dreams you described, we stand with you in rebuking and resisting any influence of the enemy that seeks to bring fear, confusion, or unwanted visions into your mind. The Bible tells us that God speaks to His people through dreams (Numbers 12:6, Joel 2:28), but not all dreams are from Him. Some may come from our own thoughts, anxieties, or even the enemy’s attempts to disrupt our peace. We declare that your mind is guarded by the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and that any dream not aligned with His will for you will have no power or place in your life.

We also want to gently remind you that while it is natural to desire dreams that bring comfort or insight, we must be careful not to treat dreams as a means of controlling or dictating God’s will. Our trust must always be in Him, not in signs or visions. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Instead of focusing on what dreams you want or don’t want, we encourage you to seek God’s face in prayer and His Word, trusting that He will guide you in all things.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne. We thank You for Your promise to guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Lord, we stand with our brother/sister in rebuking and resisting every unwanted dream, every spirit of fear, and every attempt of the enemy to disturb their peace. We declare that the blood of Jesus covers their mind, and no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Father, we ask that You would fill their mind with Your peace as they sleep. Give them dreams that align with Your will, dreams that bring encouragement, hope, and clarity. Protect them from any dream that does not come from You, and let Your Holy Spirit minister to them even in their sleep. We pray that they would rest securely in Your love, knowing that You are their Shepherd and they shall not want (Psalm 23:1).

Lord, we also ask that You would help them to trust in You fully, not in dreams or signs, but in Your Word and Your promises. Strengthen their faith and help them to seek You above all else. May they find their comfort and direction in Your presence, not in the things they desire to see in their dreams.

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the victory we have in Jesus Christ. We declare that no weapon formed against our brother/sister shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, they shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking God in prayer and His Word, trusting that He will guide you in all things. If these dreams persist or cause you distress, we also encourage you to speak with a trusted pastor or spiritual leader who can provide further counsel and prayer. Stand firm in your faith, knowing that God is with you and will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

Thank you for sharing this. It’s clear these dreams have been deeply unsettling, and we can hear how much you long for peaceful rest and for your mind to settle on the people and things that bring you comfort, not distress.

Sometimes when we wake up shaken like this, our immediate instinct is to try to take full spiritual control, to bind and rebuke every image that frightened us. That desire for mastery makes sense. But it can also leave us feeling like we’re on high alert, scanning for the next threat even while we try to sleep. We think there might be room here to gently pair that spiritual vigilance with some quiet, practical care for your body and mind at bedtime, not as a replacement for prayer, but as a way of letting your whole self settle into God’s care. A calm, simple routine in the hour before bed (dim lights, no screens, maybe a quiet activity you enjoy) can signal to your mind that it’s time to rest, not wrestle. If the dreams continue to disturb your sleep or start to wear on you during the day, we’d also gently encourage mentioning it to a doctor, just to have someone walking alongside you.

We’re praying with you now.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this person who woke today still shaken by dreams they never wanted. We ask You to quiet their mind and body tonight and in the nights ahead. Replace the images that disturb them with a deep, simple sense of Your presence, not always with elaborate answers, but with the steady peace that You are near. Guard their sleep, and let them wake knowing that whatever came in the night, they remain held safe in You. Amen.

Consider the nature of dreams: they are, as I have often said, a carnival of thought, a dance of disorder, thin as the air and inconstant as the wind. To invest them with such power that you must rebuke and bind them is to ascribe to vanity what belongs to God alone. Your waking hours, your meat and drink, the state of your body and the agitation of your mind, these shape the phantoms of the night far more than any dark purpose. Do not be entangled in a web of superstition, imagining that each fleeting shadow is a message or a menace. The Lord may speak through dreams, but He more often speaks through His Word and by His Spirit in the quiet of a trusting heart.

You cry out for deliverance from unwanted dreams and for a supply of pleasant ones, as if the throne of grace were a marketplace where we order our own fancies. But what is your true desired haven? Is it a dream, or is it Christ Himself? A soul that is right with God can sleep in peace, whether dreams come or not, for He makes us to dwell in safety. The great deliverance you need is not from nightmares, but from the guilt and power of sin; and that ransom has already been found in Jesus. When you know that your sins are forgiven and your life is hid with Christ in God, you may say with the Psalmist, “I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.”

Instead of fighting shadows with rebukes, commit your night watches to the Lord and leave them there. Pray simply: “Keep me, O Lord, for in Thee do I put my trust.” Then, whether you dream of your kindred or of nothing at all, your rest shall be sweet. Let your waking thoughts be filled with Christ, and your sleeping hours will follow. He is the haven where every storm-tossed soul finds calm; desire Him above all, and these lesser agitations will flee away of themselves.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You pray that God would rebuke and bind your dreams, as though they were living powers sent against you, and you ask Him to replace them with dreams after your own liking. But tell me, what is a dream? Is it not the empty shadow of the day, the wandering of a mind still sunk in sleep? You treat these nightly phantoms as if they held some solid substance, and by seeking to command them, you do nothing but prolong your slumber. While you are binding and loosing these figments, the true enemy, sin, works unchecked in your soul.

Have you not considered that the things of this present life, whether prosperous or painful, are themselves no better than dreams? When the day comes, the visions of the night are proved to be nothing; and when the great Day of the Lord dawns, all the world’s pomp and terror will be scattered in like manner. Why then do you toil over what vanishes with the morning light? To beg God for pleasant dreams is to ask Him to fill your hands with mist, while you neglect the solid food of virtue.

I must speak plainly, for this is not a small matter. To treat dreams as omens, to rebuke them and try to bind them by incantation, for that is what such words as “rebuke, reject, bind” amount to, is akin to the practice of augury and divination. You have turned your prayer into a charm. The Apostle charges that those addicted to these things be corrected with all authority. I do not say this to wound you without cause, but because I see a soul entangled in shadows, and I would have you stand free in the daylight of Christ.

What you truly need is not another dream, but to shake off this deep lethargy. Awake, and look to the Sun of Righteousness. No man sees the beauty of its beams while his eyes are closed in sleep. Even now the night is passing; the day of salvation is at hand. Put off the imaginings of the mind, lay aside this slumber, and clothe yourself in virtue. Let your prayer be, not for visions to flatter your desires, but for tears of repentance and a sober heart. When you walk watchfully in the light, the terrors of the night lose their power; they are nothing, and you will trample them as easily as a man brushes away a cobweb.

If you would have true peace, cease bargaining with God over the furniture of sleep. Seek rather to see your own sins clearly and to live with your mind fixed on the things above. Then your nights will be untroubled, not because you have commanded the dreams to depart, but because your soul is anchored where no phantom can reach. I am persuaded of better things for you, things that accompany salvation. Lay aside this superstition, and begin the real work of the day.

I can hear how much these dreams trouble you, and I want you to know that God is not distant from you in that distress. The Scriptures show us that the Lord sometimes spoke through dreams, Joseph in the prison, Daniel before the king, but in every case those men of God were careful to say that the interpretation of dreams belongs to God alone. They did not claim the power themselves; they pointed away from themselves and toward the One who holds all things. So rather than spending your energy trying to rebuke unwanted dreams and command the ones you would prefer, the better path is to bring your whole self, your waking and sleeping, into the Father’s hands.

Real prayer does not begin with our wish list. When Jesus gave the model for prayer, He taught us to start, “Our Father… Your kingdom come, Your will be done.” The purpose of prayer is not to get our will accomplished, but to submit to what God is doing. He is the Shepherd who knows what you truly need. If you are His child through faith in Christ, you can rest confidently in His care. If you have never come to the place where you have said from the heart, “God be merciful to me, a sinner,” that is the one prayer the Lord is most eager to hear from you first, because that cry establishes a living relationship and opens the door to all the rest.

As for your nights, remember Jacob, who fled from home exhausted and slept with a stone beneath his head. He wasn’t demanding a particular dream. God gave him a vision of a ladder reaching into heaven because God had purposes Jacob didn’t yet understand. You can ask the Lord to guard your mind while you sleep and to grant you peace instead of terror. But rather than dictating the content of your dreams, you can simply say, “Shepherd of my soul, watch over me through the night. Let no trouble overwhelm me, but give me the rest that comes from trusting You.” He is the door for His sheep; nothing reaches you that hasn’t first passed through His will.

Let the stories of Joseph and Daniel steady you: even when their dreams seemed far off or confusing, God was weaving a redemption they could not yet see. The same Lord holds your nights. Cease striving to control them, and let that quiet confidence replace the anxiety. His peace can settle your heart whether you dream or not.
