Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your goodness and for hearing my prayers. I praise you for opening this door and leading us to connect through our video call, and I thank you for answering my prayers by making a way for me to visit him in the ### soon. Thank you for guiding our steps and bringing ### into my life.

Lord, I commit this new relationship and our future plans into your hands. I ask that your will and your ways be done above all else. Please touch ###'s heart and mind. Stir a genuine romance and a deep spark within him toward me. If it is your will, let this relationship grow deep and serious, to the point where he openly and out loud declares his love for me. I pray that he sees the value in me, feels a true connection, and views me as a perfect fit for his life.

I pray that you shape him into a man with the heart of a provider—someone who is kind, loving, and ready to be a wonderful partner to me and a loving stepdad to my boys.

Father, we lift up to you our plans to apply for my B1/B2 ### Visa. I ask for your divine guidance and order in every step of this application process. Please grant wisdom to both of us as we prepare the documents and requirements. I pray for favor with the consular officer, and I ask that you remove any obstacles or anxieties. May your will be done, and if it is your timing, please grant the approval of my visa so that I can safely travel to visit him.

Father, I lay my deepest desires before you: our upcoming visit, our future together, marriage, a petition to join him in the ###, and a united family with my boys as his stepsons. I trust these dreams to your perfect timing and your perfect plan. Guide our steps, protect our hearts, and let your peace lead us every day.

First, we want to affirm your trust in the Lord’s timing and your willingness to surrender this relationship to Him. This is a beautiful posture of faith, and we join you in praying that His perfect will be done.

However, we must gently address a few areas where Scripture calls us to examine our desires and align them with God’s Word. You mention a "genuine romance" and a "deep spark," which are natural longings, but we must remember that God’s design for love is rooted in commitment, sacrifice, and covenant, not merely emotional or physical attraction. The Bible warns us in 1 John 2:16 that the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes are not of the Father. If this relationship is not built on a foundation of Christ-centered commitment, it may lead to temptation or sin. We encourage you to guard your heart (Proverbs 4:23) and ensure that your relationship honors God in purity and purpose.

You also pray for this man to become a "wonderful partner" and a "loving stepdad," which are noble desires. However, Scripture is clear that marriage is the only context where such roles are blessed by God. Your prayer for the visa process is understandable, but we must remind you that God’s will is not always about our plans coming to pass. James 4:13-15 teaches that our lives are in His hands, and we must say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that." We pray for wisdom and favor in this process, but we also pray that your heart remains surrendered to God’s timing, even if it differs from your own.

Lastly, we notice that while you close your prayer in Jesus’ name, much of your request focuses on your desires rather than His glory. Philippians 2:9-11 declares that Jesus is the name above every name, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. We encourage you to seek God’s will above all else, asking Him to shape your desires to match His. If this relationship is not honoring to Him, we pray He would redirect your steps.

How easily we set our hearts upon an earthly union and paint its likeness in fair colours, forgetting that the marriage of the Church to Christ is the only union that guarantees eternal joy! Your prayer breathes earnest desire, yet I must ask: are you first married to the Holy One? For no true and lasting happiness can come from any human bond unless both souls are betrothed to Jesus. Settle it in your mind that when God sanctions a marriage, it is a blessed choice on both sides, cemented by mutual love, yet that love must be rooted in the love of Christ. You ask the Lord to stir a deep spark in this man toward you; pray rather that the Holy Ghost would kindle in him a flame of devotion to the Saviour, for without that, even the kindest provider and the most devoted stepfather is but a blind leader of the blind.

Beware of presumptuous hopes. Many look into the future without fear, painting scenes of visas granted, journeys made, and households established, as if these things were already theirs. But the Lord has not given us the morrow; He bids us trust Him for each day. “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man,” or in the strength of our planning. Lay your deepest desires, the visit, the marriage, the petition, the blending of families, at His feet, and be content if He withholds them for a season, or forever. His ways are higher than our ways, and the darkness of any delay is no proof that the future will not be bright; there is One who can blot out all our hasty scheming and write His own will upon our hearts.

You speak of a genuine romance, a declaration of love, and seeing value in you. These are natural longings, yet they must be held loosely. The nearest fleshly relationship, even that of a devoted husband, is as nothing compared with spiritual union to Christ. Let not your peace depend upon a man’s words, nor your worth upon his estimation. You are already fully loved and valued in the Beloved, and that is a portion no consular officer can grant or deny. Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness; then, if this man be given you, you will receive him as a gift from the Father’s hand, not as an idol fashioned by your own desires.

I do not chide you for bringing these matters before the Mercy Seat, for the Lord invites us to cast all our care upon Him. But let your chief plea be that the will of the Lord be done in you and in this man, and that both of you, and those dear boys, may be found in Christ at last. The marriage of the Lamb is the great hope of the Church; make that your first and highest joy. Then, whether you cross the sea or remain, whether you are made one in earthly covenant or walk a solitary path, you shall say, “This is the day which the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

The thanks you offer to God acknowledge His hand in your meeting, yet I must ask plainly: what is the nature of this bond you seek to have blessed? You speak of a video call, a visit, a spark of romance, and a hope that a man will declare his love. These are the seeds either of a holy marriage or of a dangerous entanglement. You ask God to stir a deep spark within him toward you, but the Scriptures do not teach us to pray for romantic feelings as the foundation of a life together. Noah was warned of things not yet seen and moved with godly fear to build an ark. What is being built here? A house founded on the rock of obedience, or a tower of desires?

Marriage is honorable, and the bed undefiled. It is not holiness itself, but it preserves the holiness that comes from faith, by shutting out all defilement. If this man is to be a husband to you and a father to your boys, the question is not whether he feels a spark, but whether he fears the Lord and walks in His commandments. Is he a man of proven faith, not by words on a screen but by a life of visible obedience? You pray he be shaped into a provider, kind and loving. That is a good prayer, but you cannot shape a man by a visit and a visa. The wheat is known by its fruit, and fruit takes time to ripen.

I see you lay deep desires before the Lord: a visit, a marriage, a petition, a united family. Yet I must warn you, as the Apostle warned, that our exhortation is not of error or uncleanness. God proves the hearts. Are you seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, or are you arranging a life according to a plan you have drawn and then asking God to stamp it? The patriarchs married and were given in marriage, but they did so within the fear of God, not by sending their hearts across the sea to one they scarcely know in the flesh. Rebecca came veiled to Isaac, in modesty and in the clear will of God, not by a video call kindling a “genuine romance.”

If this relationship is to be blessed, it must be brought into the light of Christ’s order. Let there be no playing at marriage before marriage exists. No union of hearts professed before the union is made before God and the church. What you call a new relationship is, for now, a stranger to you in body, though known in spirit. Guard your heart and your boys’ hearts with a wall of chastity. Do not let your imagination run ahead of your feet into a future that may be a snare. If he is a true brother in Christ, let him prove his love by honoring you as a sister in all purity, until such time as God makes a clear path. A visa is a small thing; a righteous life is the great thing.

You ask for peace to lead you. The peace of Christ is not the calm of getting what we want, but the deep stillness of a will surrendered to His commands, even when He says “wait” or “no.” Marriage is a bond ordained of God; a harlot is a severing and dissolving. Do not sever yourself from the safety of God’s design by rushing into emotional bonds that only marriage should hold. Let your boys see in you a mother who fears the Lord, not one who chases a dream. If this man is God’s provision, He will make it plain through the counsel of the church, the witness of righteous lives, and a patient walk that does not stumble into impurity. Lay these desires not only before God but also at the feet of mature believers who can see what you, in your hope, might miss.

Pray instead that both your hearts be conformed to Christ, that you both seek holiness without which no one will see the Lord. If then He wills a marriage, it will be a spiritual marriage, rooted in faith and not in the flesh, a union that reflects Christ and the Church. Until that day, stand firm. Do not give away what belongs only to a wife, nor expect what belongs only to a husband. The world rushes to grasp; the faithful wait on the Lord.
