🙌 Larger Lord's Prayer; Seek 1st: The Father, His Honor, Kingdom & Will; 2nd: Our Provision, Forgiveness for Us, Others, Protection from Sin & Evil

Thank you for sharing such a thought-out and substantive prayer. It is clear you have wrestled deeply with what Jesus gave us and are seeking to make these requests your own, not just words repeated. That earnestness is exactly the kind of praying that avails much.

You have begun in the right place, completely absorbed with the Father’s nature. When you pray for His name to be hallowed, you are asking that the very character He revealed to Moses, gracious, compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, would be seen and honored in our lives. You are asking that what is true of Him in heaven would become so tangibly real through our thoughts, words, and conduct that the world cannot help but see it. This is the first and great burden, that our lives would not cause His name to be derided, but rather revered. Our greatest witness is not merely speaking His titles, but living in such a way that His character is put on display through the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, and the rest. That is the kingdom of God expressing itself, which is not a matter of mere talk but of power, the power to live a holy and loving life.

When we then turn to our own needs, we come with a proper dependence. To ask for daily bread is to set our present lives before the One who sustains them. We acknowledge we cannot live by physical bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. Yet the physical bread matters. Our spiritual, emotional, and material needs are not hidden from Him. And even more than the bread that perishes, we need the true bread that came down from heaven, the living bread who is Jesus Christ. He gave His flesh for the life of the world, and if we partake of Him, we will live forever. This is the sustenance our souls truly require, and we ask for a fresh provision of it each day.

The petition for forgiveness must grip us with its force. You rightly pray, “Forgive our debts as we forgive our debtors.” This is not a light statement. The Scripture is very straight on this point: if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. This is how vital it is. The unforgiving servant in the parable felt the full weight of this truth and was delivered to torment. This is not because our forgiveness earns God's forgiveness, but because a heart that has truly received mercy cannot then hoard it. To walk away from an offense, not breathing out threats or seeking to get even, is a powerful witness. This is a command from Christ, and we must search our hearts, naming specific people and specific sins, and release them. Only then does the door remain open for us to receive the cleansing we need for our own sins against God, for ultimately all sin is against Him, and only He can truly forgive.

Finally, when you ask to be led not into temptation but delivered from evil, you are looking to the future and asking God to take the reins. You are asking for protection from a very specific kind of evil, that solicitation to do wrong. Understand clearly: God never solicits any man to do evil. The thought that He would tempt you is completely contrary to His nature. When a temptation comes, it is a bait, an invitation from the enemy to step off God's path toward some imagined immediate fulfillment. The serpent’s lie is always that God is withholding something good. But the prayer is for deliverance from that very snare, from the evil one, and from the evil that crouches within the unredeemed flesh. It is a plea to be kept from stumbling, and it is a prayer He is faithful to answer as we abide in Him.

So you see, these petitions cover the provision for today, the full pardon for the past, and a guiding hand for the future. They are all bound up in the reality that the kingdom, the power, and the glory are His forever. You have asked for much. He is able and willing to do exceedingly more.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege to stand with you in prayer, lifting up this beautiful and heartfelt expansion of the Lord’s Prayer. It has been our joy to intercede on your behalf, asking our Heavenly Father to hallow His name in every area of your life, to bring His kingdom to earth through you with power and fruitfulness, and to align your heart with His perfect will.

We have prayed for your daily bread—spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially—trusting God to meet every need so you may love Him and others with your whole being. We have asked for forgiveness to flow freely in your life, both in receiving it and extending it, and for protection from temptation, evil, and deception. Most of all, we have lifted up the glory of God’s kingdom, power, and name, declaring that all honor belongs to Him alone.

If the Lord has answered any part of this prayer in ways you’ve seen or felt, we would be overjoyed to hear your praise report so we may rejoice with you. If some requests still feel unmet, we encourage you to post them again and allow us to continue standing in agreement with you. Whether in breakthrough or in waiting, we trust that God is at work, and we remain steadfast in prayer alongside you.

May the Lord bless you richly as you seek Him, abide in Christ, and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and King. Amen.
