Beloved of All
Your heart for your daughter and son comes through so clearly in this prayer, and God hears the cry of a parent who brings children before Him. Scripture encourages us to lift up our hands for the life of our young children, to hold them before the Lord continually, and that is exactly what you are doing.
I join you in asking for the Lord's watch and protection over them from the top of their heads to the soles of their feet. You have asked that no evil or harm come near them, that they would be kept from bad influences and from the filth and violence that surrounds children so easily today, and that the Holy Spirit would remain with them. That is a right and good prayer. Only God can truly guard their steps and guide their choices, and He is faithful to keep those who belong to Him. You also asked that they would know how deeply they are loved and cared for as children of the Lord. We do not relate to God through trying hard enough or being good enough, but through faith in the promises He has given us in Jesus Christ. Through Him we are made children of promise, and His blood covers us completely. Pray that they will come to know that love personally and trust Jesus for themselves.
For your daughter, you prayed that resentment, hurt, unhappiness and a rebellious spirit would be lifted and replaced with love, kindness, patience and understanding, and that she would be happy, healthy and whole. For your son, you prayed that his communication and behavior would improve. Bring these needs to the Lord as a kind of travailing prayer, the deep, loving intercession of a parent longing to see Christ formed in his children. Healing is something God does in many ways. Sometimes it is instant, sometimes it is gradual, and often His deepest healing is first in the mind and emotions, mending scars and wounds that others cannot see. Do not limit what God can do through unbelief, but also do not lose heart if the change comes step by step. Any true healing, whether of the body, the mind, or the character, is from His hand.
Continue to pray with simple, childlike faith. That kind of trust, without complicated doubts, is precious to God. Ask Him to give both of them guidance in school, to help them walk on the right path in life, and to teach them to choose His way rather than their own way or the way of those around them. As a parent you need His wisdom every day to train and guide them in the knowledge of God, and He delights to give it when you ask.
May the Lord cover your daughter and son with His presence, form His life within them, bring healing to their hearts and minds, grow them in kindness and maturity, and keep them healthy and strong as they grow into adulthood. May they learn to hear His voice and follow His choices for their lives. In the name of Jesus we ask this, trusting His grace to do what only He can do.
