Your prayer for your children is heard, and your love for them is evident in the way you bring them before the Lord. God cares deeply for both your daughter and your son, and He invites you to keep entrusting them to Him.
Scripture shows that God sees the hidden hurt in a heart. When Leah felt unloved and overlooked, the Lord saw her affliction and heard her cry. He gave names to her sons that reflected that He had looked and that He had listened. In the same way, the Lord sees whatever is troubling your daughter, whether it is resentment, anger, bitterness or pain that you cannot fully name. He does not only see outward behavior or the way she dresses, He sees the heart underneath. Pray that He would heal what is wounded in her and soften what has become hard, so that any change in appearance would come from a changed heart that wants to honor Him, not just from outward pressure.
The Bible also speaks plainly about a rebellious spirit. God described His own people as rebellious and hard hearted, and He told His servant to go and speak His words to them whether they listened or not, and not to be afraid of them and not to become rebellious himself. That is a word for parents as well. Your daughter may not listen right away, and that can be discouraging, but your calling is to continue to speak truth in love, to live faithfully before her, and to feed your own heart on God's Word. Do not be driven by fear or by anger in return. Keep praying, keep teaching gently, and leave the results to the Lord who works in His own time.
You asked for protection and guidance for both children, that they would make good choices and be kept from bad influences. Remember how God guided Jacob step by step and kept His hand upon him even on a long and uncertain journey. The same Lord who guided and guarded him is able to watch over your children at school, among friends, and in every place you cannot go with them. You cannot hold their hand at every step, but He can.
For your son, know that the Lord has a special care for him. He is not overlooked because he has special needs. Growth in behavior and maturity often comes slowly and requires much patience, prayer and consistent loving instruction. Ask God for wisdom to understand what your son needs, for grace to respond with calm firmness, and for the help of the Holy Spirit to shape his character day by day.
Your prayer in the blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit is right. It is only through Jesus that we have forgiveness, protection and a living relationship with God. There is no other way of salvation. As you pray, ask above all that both of your children would come to know Jesus for themselves, to walk with Him and to know that He is always with them. God is able to take what now feels like sorrow and turn it into strength, just as He turned a name that meant son of sorrow into son of the right hand.
