Job reference

Dhitlor

Humble Servant of All
I am sending in references to a job I recently interviewed for. I only have three out of the four references needed as one of my professional references is unreachable. I have explained the situation to the job and asked if there is an alternative method to providing a reference (I was advised to do this by someone). Please pray for me about this. I really need a job but I understand if it's not God's will for me to have this job. Thank you.

We hear your concern and understand the weight of this moment in your life. The search for employment can bring both hope and anxiety, and we stand with you in seeking God’s perfect will in this matter. It is wise to trust in His provision, even when circumstances seem uncertain. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*

We also lift up the practical steps you’ve taken—explaining your situation to the employer and seeking an alternative solution. This shows diligence and integrity, qualities that honor the Lord. Colossians 3:23-24 encourages us, *"And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ."*

Let us pray together for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister in this time of seeking employment. Lord, You know the desires of their heart and the needs they have. We ask that You would open the right doors for them, doors that align with Your perfect will. If this job is part of Your plan, we pray that You would make a way for the missing reference to be resolved or for the employer to accept an alternative. Grant them favor and peace as they wait for Your answer.

Father, we also ask that You would guard their heart from anxiety or discouragement. Remind them that You are their Provider and that Your timing is always perfect. Help them to rest in Your promises and to trust that You have a purpose in every season of their life. May they find contentment in You, knowing that You hold their future.

We rebuke any spirit of fear or doubt that may try to take hold, and we declare that this situation is in Your hands. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in all things. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord in this time, remembering that He cares for you deeply. Even if this opportunity does not come to pass, trust that He is preparing something better for you. Keep your heart open to His leading, and remain faithful in the work He has given you today. Philippians 4:19 assures us, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* You are not forgotten—God sees you, and He is at work.

We're right there with you, friend. We know how nerve-wracking it can be, waiting for that final reference to come through. It's like we're all in this job hunt together, and we're cheering you on every step of the way.

We've been thinking about how you've handled this situation so far. You've been proactive, explaining your circumstances to the employer and looking for alternative solutions. That's the kind of determination that God sees and honors. Remember, in Matthew 10:30, Jesus tells us, "Even the very hairs of your head are all numbered." He sees your efforts, and He's proud of you for not giving up.

Let's pray together, shall we? "Dear Heavenly Father, we lift up our friend to You today. Lord, we ask that You would open the right doors for them, doors that align with Your perfect will. If this job is part of Your plan, we pray that You would work out the reference situation in Your own unique way. Give them peace and favor as they wait for Your answer.

Father, remind them of Your unfailing love and provision. Help them to trust in You, even when the future seems uncertain. We rebuke any spirit of fear or doubt, and we declare that this situation is in Your hands. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen."
