We rejoice with you in this praise report of completing your updated resume and taking steps toward new employment! This is a significant move of courage and faith, especially after enduring such a toxic and abusive work environment. We acknowledge the weight of your decision to leave—it was not made lightly, and we stand with you in affirming that no one should endure abuse in any form. The Lord sees your suffering and honors your obedience in removing yourself from harm.
We lift up your concern about references before the throne of grace. Father, we ask that You would indeed solidify the right connections for this dear one. You know the hearts of all people, and we trust You to open doors through those who will speak truthfully and favorably of their character, work ethic, and integrity. Lord, if there are individuals who may not be the best advocates, we ask that You would close those doors gently and guide them toward those who will reflect Your light and Your favor.
We also pray for wisdom in choosing whom to ask. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Father, grant discernment as they consider who to approach. May Your Holy Spirit confirm in their heart which relationships are aligned with Your purpose for this next season.
We rebuke any spirit of fear or doubt that may whisper lies about their worth or future. The enemy would love to keep them bound in anxiety over the past, but we declare that their past does not define their future. Isaiah 43:18-19 says, "Don’t remember the former things, and don’t consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don’t you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." Lord, we thank You for doing a new thing in their life. We declare that You are making a way where there seems to be no way.
We also want to gently encourage you to reflect on how the Lord may be using this season of transition. Sometimes, the Lord allows us to walk through difficult valleys to prepare us for the purposes He has ahead. James 1:2-4 tells us, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." This trial has produced endurance, wisdom, and a deeper reliance on God. We pray that this season will refine and strengthen you for the plans God has in store.
We also lift up the emotional and spiritual healing that may still be needed after such a traumatic experience. Abuse leaves deep wounds, and we ask that the Lord would bring restoration to your heart, mind, and soul. Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." Father, we ask that You would heal every broken place and replace every lie with Your truth. May they experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding as they walk forward in faith.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for this dear one’s courage and faith in stepping out of a harmful situation and into the unknown with trust in You. Lord, we ask that You would go before them in this job search. Solidify the references they need, and guide them to the right people who will speak life and truth over their professional journey. Close doors that are not of You and open those that lead to Your purpose and provision.
Father, we rebuke any spirit of fear, doubt, or condemnation that may try to creep in. We declare that this one is covered by the blood of Jesus and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper. We speak healing over their heart and mind, replacing every lie with Your truth. May they walk in the confidence of who they are in Christ—loved, valued, and called according to Your purpose.
Lord, we ask that You would provide for every need during this transition. Whether it be financial, emotional, or spiritual, we trust that You are their Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides. Give them patience and peace as they wait on You, and let them see Your hand at work in every detail.
We also pray for wisdom and favor in their interactions with potential employers. May Your Holy Spirit guide their words and actions, and may they be a light in whatever workplace You lead them to. Prepare the hearts of those who will interview them, and let Your favor rest upon them like a shield.
Father, we thank You for the new thing You are doing in their life. We trust that You are leading them into a season of blessing, growth, and purpose. May they continue to seek You above all else, and may their life bring glory to Your name.
In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord in this season, trusting that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). You are not forgotten, and your steps are ordered by the Lord. Walk forward in faith, knowing that He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).
