I want. We hear your heart’s desire for provision and direction in your work, and we lift this request before the Lord together. First, we want to gently correct a small but important detail, you addressed your prayer to "Loed Jesus." We know this was likely a simple typo, but it reminds us of the power and precision of the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). When we pray, we must come boldly to the throne of grace in the name of Jesus, for His name is holy, powerful, and above every other name (Philippians 2:9-11). Let us always ensure we are calling on the true and living God, for He alone hears and answers.

Now, regarding your job situation, we understand the practical need for employment and the desire for flexibility in your work. Scripture reminds us in Proverbs 16:3, "Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed." It is good to seek the Lord’s guidance in all things, including our work, for He is the one who provides for our needs (Matthew 6:33). However, we must also examine our motives and ensure they align with God’s will. You mentioned wanting this job "for the time being" and then returning to your seasonal position, with the eventual goal of moving on to a "better life." While it is not wrong to seek improvement or change, we must ask: Are we seeking God’s will above our own plans? Are we content with where He has us now, trusting that He will provide in His timing?

The apostle Paul writes in Philippians 4:11-13, "I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. I know how to be humbled, and I know how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Contentment is not complacency, it is trusting God in every season, whether we are in a place of abundance or need. We encourage you to seek the Lord’s will above your own desires, asking Him to reveal His purpose for this season of your life. Is He calling you to this job, or is He preparing you for something else? Is this a step toward His plan, or are you seeking your own path?

We also notice your longing for someone whose name has been redacted. If this is a relationship, we must gently remind you of God’s design for love and companionship. If you are unmarried, Scripture calls us to pursue relationships with the goal of marriage, and only with fellow believers (2 Corinthians 6:14). If this person is not a believer or if the relationship does not honor God, we must rebuke any attachment that draws you away from His will. If you are married, we must uphold the sanctity of that covenant, for marriage is a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman (Matthew 19:4-6). Let us pray for godly relationships that honor the Lord and bring you closer to Him.

Let us now come before the Lord in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear brother/sister to You, asking for Your guidance and provision in their work. Lord, You know their needs, their desires, and their heart. We ask that You would open the right doors for them, doors that align with Your will and Your purpose for their life. If this job is part of Your plan, we pray that You would grant them favor in the application process and wisdom in their decisions. If it is not Your will, we ask that You would close this door and redirect their steps toward what You have prepared for them.

Father, we also pray for contentment in this season. Help them to trust in Your provision, knowing that You are their provider (Philippians 4:19). Teach them to seek You first above all else, and to find their satisfaction in You alone. If there is any area of their life where they are seeking their own will above Yours, reveal it to them, Lord, and give them the strength to surrender it to You.

We also lift up their heart’s longing for companionship. If this is a desire for a godly spouse, we pray that You would prepare them and the one You have for them, drawing them together in Your timing and for Your glory. If this longing is leading them away from Your will, we ask that You would break any unhealthy attachments and fill their heart with Your peace and purpose.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of discontentment, anxiety, or self-reliance in this situation. We declare that this brother/sister is not alone, for You are with them (Joshua 1:9). We pray that they would walk in faith, trusting that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28). May they find their identity and security in You, knowing that You hold their future in Your hands.

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to spend time in God’s Word, seeking His will above your own. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Surrender your plans to Him, and trust that He will lead you in the way you should go. The prayer you bring fixes your mind upon a very detailed arrangement of employments, a job now, a return to your seasonal work, then a new life afterward. It is a human plan, framed by desire for one place and a longing for another. Yet you must remember, as Job learned, this life is an appointed time, a warfare. You did not appoint your days; you cannot regret the appointment made by a wisdom infinitely higher than your own. The posts you occupy are allotted to you in the volume of the book where all your story is written. You miss your former position? That very miss may be the ploughing of the furrow to sow wisdom. Do not be swift to complain under the present ordering, lest you charge God foolishly. Job under his first trials did not sin in this way, and his patience was perfected and immortalized only through the trial. All the days of your appointed time, wait till your change comes.

Yet I hear in this request a deeper cry, that when this season is done, you might move on to a better life. You speak of a new life. Know this: no change of outer occupation can make the heart new. If any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. Without the Spirit of God moving upon the chaos of your soul, all your circumstances remain a dreary winter. The very first act in the new creation is that the Spirit moves upon you. Have you sought this? Has the Spirit given you that vivid apprehension of God of which Job spoke when he said, “Now my eye sees You”? When a man comes to that sight, he abhors himself and yields the point unreservedly. All his self-made pleadings are retracted. He sees that Christ says, “Behold, I make all things new.” That is the better life you need, not a mere exchange of vineyards but the keeping of your own soul’s vineyard through communion with God. If you neglect that highest work, your outward labor, however steady, will lack life, sap, and savor.

Spend then your appointed days not scheming over the sequence of one post or another, but looking to the Savior’s finished sacrifice. Cast yourself upon it. Then, whether you sit in the seasonal job you miss or stand in the temporary one you seek, you will honor God only, with no interposing thing between you and Him. If the record of your life is written as a sufferer and a struggler, trust that it is the way Grace covers you to make you steadfast, unmovable. Go now, apply your hand with diligence to the work that lies at the door, but let your first business be a personal dealing with the Lord. For when the trumpet sounds and the cerements of the grave are rent, the only thing that will matter is whether your sin is pardoned and you are accepted in the Beloved. Waste not an hour.

Your mind is pulled in many directions, torn between missing what is behind and grasping for what is ahead in your work. You ask for a job as a stepping stone, then a return to a former seasonal role, then a new life. But I must ask: where is your true life hid? The Apostle Paul says, “That which I now live in the flesh, I live in faith,” and that is “the fruit of my work.” Your labor is only fruitful if it is done not for mere daily bread, but as an offering of faith. Yes, we are commanded that if any will not work, neither should he eat, but that very instruction was given so that we might not be busybodies, but work with quietness and eat our own bread. Yet to fix your hopes upon a particular sequence of jobs is to build on sand.

You speak of missing someone, and of wanting a part-time place, then a return, and then at last a better life. But hear the truth: our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us an eternal weight of glory. Why then do you set your heart on these comings and goings, as though they could give you rest? The only better life is found not in a new situation, but in the new and living way opened through the flesh of Christ. That way is walked by repentance, which makes the worn and aged soul strong again, though it cannot restore its former brightness fully. So put off the old man of worldly care and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

If you long for a person, remember that every human affection is fleeting: here we have no continuing city. Let not your heart be so entangled that you account a job or an earthly tie more precious than the gospel. Many spend hours on worthless things and remember them exactly, yet before God’s Word they cannot tarry a little while. Do not be like them. Commit your plan to the Lord, and if He opens a door, work with your hands as unto Him, not as building your own kingdom. Seek first His kingdom and righteousness, and these things will be added in due season. For the true new life is already yours in Christ, if you have died with Him and risen again.

It takes real honesty to bring the tangled desires of your heart to God just as they are, the job you need now, the seasonal work you miss, the better life you hope for later. That kind of prayer lays everything out in the open, and God is not put off by it. He hears you.

But notice how the longings can pile up so quickly. There is the immediate need, the ache for something familiar, and the dream of a fresh start somewhere ahead. It can feel like life hangs on getting these things in the right order. Our strongest instinct is often to secure our own survival, skin for skin, a person will give anything for their life. We think if we can just line up the right position at the right time, our days will finally feel stable. And yet, even when we get what we asked for, the weariness can still cling to the soul like a shadow.

That is not a reason to stop asking. It is a reason to anchor your hope in something deeper than the outcome of any application. Think of how a tree, cut down to a stump, can still send up a tender shoot at the scent of water. Hope for a tree. A man or woman cut down by circumstances may wonder if there is any life left to bud. In Jesus Christ, the answer is not just a question. He stepped into our fleeting existence, where our days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and He made eternal life the foundation beneath our feet. If your life is hidden in Him, then your future is not riding on a part-time schedule or a seasonal return.

There is a great relief in realizing that your ultimate witness is not on earth. The one who vouches for you is on high. You can pour out your confusion about which path to take, and you can admit you miss what is behind you, while still trusting the One who goes before you. He is not waiting to condemn you for having mixed feelings. He invites you to bring the request, lay down the frantic planning, and rest in the faithfulness of the God who sees the whole span of your life from beginning to end. Do your part in diligence. Fill out the application. But as you do, let your soul breathe in the truth that your worth and your future are already secured by a mediator who never loses a case. His plans for you are not fragile. They do not crumble if one door closes. They carry you clear through to the life that is truly life.
