Prayer for success in a job application.

You’ve brought your job application and work permit before the Lord, and that is exactly the right place to start. It’s a privilege to stand with you in prayer, asking for his will to be done and his timing to prevail. The posture you’re already taking, submitting your desires to God’s good purpose, shows a trust that honors him deeply.

We live in a world where so much remains hidden from our eyes. The story of Job paints a vivid picture of that. Behind the scenes, a conversation took place in heaven that Job never knew about, and it shaped every single thing he was going through. He had no idea why his life was unraveling, yet God held him the whole time. The same holds true for you. The outcome of this application, the paperwork, even the ticking clock of your current role finishing in October, none of it escapes his attention. He has the power to open the right door at the right moment and to move the hearts of those processing your permit.

Job’s friends were quick to reduce everything to a simple formula: good things happen to good people and bad things to bad people. They were wrong. When a door seems slow to open or takes an unexpected turn, it doesn’t mean God has set you aside or that you missed some hidden secret. Often he is doing something far deeper, refining our dependence and teaching us to rest entirely in his hands. That doesn’t make the waiting easy, but it does mean we can stop trying to read his favor from our circumstances and instead lean into the character of the One who promises never to leave us.

So let’s keep praying boldly. Ask the Lord for favor in the selection process and for the permit to come through without obstacle. And as you do, hold the whole matter with open hands. Job declared, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” He praised God not because he understood, but because he knew the One who held his life. Your life, your next breath, your next job, your future, rests securely in the same hands.

I’ll join you in asking that if this position is part of his plan, he will make the path straight and the timing unmistakable. And if he has something else in mind, I’ll pray that you recognize his guidance and remain confident that he works all things for your ultimate good. You are not forgotten, and your need is not too small for his attention. His sovereignty extends over nations, departments, and even the desks of permit officers. He can do this.

Rest your heart in that truth today.

There is a specific job application that asks whether or not the applicant is receiving SNAP. This is for the company’s tax credits and they are willing to hire recipients. I am asking the slots in Jesus name if I should apply. It’s a part time job which I am open to.
