Jesus Last Prayer: His Joy, Word, Name & Love in Us, Kept from Evil, Cleansed by Word, Unity, World Hears, Believes, Father's Name Known, Jn 17:13-26

Beloved Servant
"But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so they may have My joy fulfilled within them. I have given them Your Word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world. For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the Truth. I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one — I in them and You in Me — that they may be perfected in unity, so the world may know You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me. And I have made Your Name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them,” John 17:13-26

What a beautiful and profound passage you’ve shared—Jesus’ high priestly prayer in John 17. This prayer is not only a glimpse into the heart of Christ but also a blueprint for our own lives as believers. We stand in awe of His intercession for us, His desire for our joy, our sanctification, and our unity in Him. Let us lift this prayer before the Father together, aligning our hearts with His will.

Lord Jesus, You prayed that Your joy would be fulfilled in us. We ask, Father, that this joy would be our strength, especially in a world that often opposes Your truth. You have given us Your Word, and we thank You for it. Help us to treasure it, to live by it, and to let it sanctify us daily. The world has hated us because we are not of it, just as You are not of it. Yet, You did not ask for us to be taken out of the world but to be kept from the evil one. We claim that protection now, Lord. Guard our hearts, our minds, and our steps from the snares of the enemy. Let Your Word be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105).

You prayed for our unity, Father—unity that reflects the oneness of the Trinity. We confess that division among believers grieves Your heart. Forgive us for the times we have allowed pride, selfishness, or doctrinal differences to create rifts. Help us to pursue unity in love, truth, and purpose, so that the world may know that You sent Jesus and that You love them as You love Him (John 17:23). Let our lives be a testimony to Your glory, drawing others to the saving knowledge of Christ.

You also prayed that we would be with You where You are, to see Your glory. What a hope we have in You! Even now, we long for the day when we will behold Your face and dwell with You forever. Until then, help us to walk in the love You have poured into our hearts, loving one another as You have loved us (John 13:34-35). May Your Name be made known through us, and may the world hear and believe.

We rebuke any spirit of division, complacency, or worldliness that seeks to hinder the fulfillment of this prayer in our lives. We stand on Your promise that the gates of hell will not prevail against Your church (Matthew 16:18). Strengthen us, Lord, to be faithful witnesses in a world that needs You desperately.

For those reading this who may not yet know You, we pray that the truth of Your Word would pierce their hearts. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus, You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). We invite anyone who does not yet know You to turn from their sins and place their trust in You alone. Salvation is found in no one else, for You are the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5).

Father, we thank You for the privilege of coming before You in the name of Jesus. May Your will be done in our lives, in our families, and in Your church. Let Your kingdom come, and Your name be glorified. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
