Servant of All
Dear God thank you for helping me get through another day at work today. Thank you for trying to soften the hearts of my bosses and my coworkers and my customers and especially my wife. My wife and I have AUD and please help my wife to stop smoking cigarettes. Addiction is a hard little monster please help us change to be better. Myself and my wife and our adult kid's with their needs please help us. Please forgive me for my AUD and my Bad decisions and the choices that I choose to do to myself. My wife is trying to be a little bit nicer to me and I appreciate that so much. Please help me be a better person and a better husband and a better dad to our adult kid's and a better employee worker Bee! Please help me to be able to financially retire in 5 years. Thank you Jesus Christ my lord and Savior. Thank you God for not giving up on me. I love you

We hear your heartfelt cry to the Lord, and we join you in lifting these burdens before Him. It is clear that you love the Lord Jesus Christ and desire to walk in His ways, and for that, we praise God. Your acknowledgment of Him as Lord and Savior is the foundation upon which true change and healing are built. Let us stand together on His promises and seek His will for your life, your marriage, and your family.

First, we want to address the struggles you and your wife face with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and the smoking addiction. Addiction is indeed a fierce battle, but we serve a God who is greater than any chain that binds us. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." The Lord does not leave you to fight this alone, He provides a way out, and He is faithful to strengthen you as you seek Him.

We also rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ. Addiction is not merely a physical struggle; it is a spiritual battle, and we declare that its grip over you and your wife is broken by the power of the blood of Jesus. In James 4:7, we are told, "Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Stand firm in your resistance to these temptations, and trust that God will deliver you as you submit to Him.

Your desire to be a better husband, father, and employee is commendable, and we pray that the Lord will equip you with His strength to fulfill these roles in a way that honors Him. Ephesians 5:25 reminds husbands, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it." Your wife’s efforts to be kinder are a blessing, and we pray that you both will continue to grow in love and patience toward one another. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and the Lord desires to restore and strengthen it as you both seek Him.

We also lift up your adult children before the Lord. Parenting does not end when children grow up, and we pray that God will meet their needs according to His riches in glory. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Even now, your example and prayers for them are powerful, and we trust that God will work in their lives.

Financial concerns and the desire to retire in five years are also on your heart. We encourage you to seek God’s wisdom in managing your resources, as Proverbs 3:9-10 instructs, "Honor Yahweh with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase: so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine." Trust in the Lord’s provision, and seek His guidance in stewardship.

Let us now pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for Your faithfulness and for not giving up on us, even when we struggle. Lord, we lift up this brother and his wife, asking that You would break the chains of addiction in their lives. Strengthen them to resist temptation and fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in freedom and victory. Father, we rebuke the spirit of addiction and declare that it has no power over them, for they belong to You.

Lord, we pray for their marriage. Soften their hearts toward one another, and help them to love as You have loved us. Restore kindness, patience, and understanding between them, and let their home be a place of peace and unity. We ask that You would heal any wounds and draw them closer to You and to each other.

Father, we lift up their adult children to You. Meet their needs, guide their steps, and draw them into a deeper relationship with You. Let them see Your love through their parents, and may they walk in the purposes You have for them.

Lord, we ask for Your provision and wisdom in their finances. Help them to honor You with their resources and trust in Your timing for retirement. Provide for their needs and open doors of opportunity as they seek You.

Finally, Father, we ask that You would continue to transform this brother into the man You have called him to be, a godly husband, a loving father, and a faithful servant in all areas of his life. Fill him with Your strength, wisdom, and peace.

We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Thank you for sharing your heart with us. It’s clear how much you long for healing, for yourself, your wife, and your whole family, and we’re grateful you’re reaching out in prayer.

We hear the weight of addiction and the hope you’re clinging to. The fact that you see small kindnesses from your wife and that you made it through another workday is real grace, a reason for quiet thanks, not a reason to minimize the struggle. Recovery from alcohol and smoking is often a winding road, not a straight line, but you’re not walking it alone.

One of the most practical things you can do is connect with others who understand the battle firsthand. A Christian recovery group like Celebrate Recovery, or a solid AA group, offers regular support and accountability that can steady you both. For your wife’s smoking, when she feels ready, a doctor can help with a practical plan, things like nicotine patches under medical guidance, that take some of the physical edge off quitting. No rush, just an open door.

It’s good you’re asking to be a better husband, dad, and worker. That desire itself is a sign God isn’t done shaping you. And the forgiveness you asked for is already yours in Christ, He doesn’t give up on His children.

Would you pray with us?

Lord Jesus, thank You for sustaining this brother and for the glimpses of hope in his marriage. We ask for strength, one day at a time, to walk away from alcohol and cigarettes. Grant him and his wife clear minds, willing hearts, and the support they need. Forgive what is past and shape them into the people and parents they long to be. We lift up their adult children’s needs, and we ask for wisdom and provision so he might retire in five years if that fits Your will. Keep softening his wife’s heart, and help him be a patient, steady husband. In Your name we pray, amen.

It is a sweet note that you strike when you cry out for forgiveness, for there is forgiveness with God that He may be feared. You have not been left to grope in darkness; the very fact that you plead for mercy proves that the smoking flax of faith has not been quenched in your soul. The Master does not break the bruised reed, nor does He dash cold water upon the feeblest spark of grace. Your confession rises as incense, however faint, because it is laid upon the golden altar of Christ’s intercession.

What a mercy that the forgiveness you seek is not a dribble of pardon for a few select sins, but a full and eternal obliteration of all your debt! “I, even I, am He,” saith the Lord, “that blotteth out thy transgressions.” Let this truth sink into your heart like rain into parched ground, your bad decisions, your ###, the sins you heap upon yourself, all are swallowed up in the bottomless sea of divine grace the moment you lay hold of Christ. Do not let the little monster of addiction whisper that you are beyond the pale. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth from all sin. There is forgiveness for the chief of sinners, and that means for you, even now, at this very hour.

But mark well the order in the narrative of the palsied man: first forgiveness, then healing. The leaves of the Tree of Life are not only for food but for medicine. As you rest in Christ’s finished work, the healing streams will flow into every part of your being. The chains of ###, the clinging smoke of that little idol to which your wife is bound, the weariness of your daily toil, all these are within the compass of the great Physician’s skill. He who forgave the sin also made the lame man rise and carry his bed. Expect, then, that the same grace which gives you peace with God will also bring a measure of wholeness to your home and to your own frame. The leaves are for healing; the little things about Christ, the touches of His Spirit, the means of grace, the fellowship of the saints, do not despise these, for they carry restorative power.

Your cry for your wife and children reaches the ear of the Lord of Sabaoth. He who softened your bosses and coworkers can surely soften your wife’s heart and break the fetters of her ###. While you pray for her, be yourself a palpable token of the mercy you have received. A forgiven husband, humbled and made gentle, is one of God’s most potent arguments. And as for your adult children with their many needs, cast them upon the same grace that holds you. Is anything too hard for the Lord? He can untangle the knottiest of lives and draw straight lines with our crooked sticks.

Do not let the retiring in five years become a snare of anxiety. Your Heavenly Father knows your need of daily bread, and whatever silver or gold He appoints, let your chief treasure remain where neither moth nor rust can corrupt. Seek first the kingdom, and these temporal mercies, if they be truly good for you, will be added. The One who gives His own Son will not refuse the lesser gift of provision.

I love the artlessness of your prayer, the way you speak to God as a living, loving Friend. Keep fast hold of that though your faith be but a smoking flax that yields more stench than light at times. The Lord will not snuff you out because the dimness of your glow grieves you. Rather, He will shield you from the blasts of condemnation and fan the spark until it becomes a flame. Go your way with this token: “I believe in the forgiveness of sins,” not just as a creed, but as a personal certitude. He has not given up on you, nor will He ever. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance; once forgiven, you are forgiven irreversibly. Let that be the solid rock beneath your feet as you walk on to be a better husband, father, and worker, all for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You do well to give thanks to God for merely getting through a day, for all our strength comes from Him. He is the Father who feeds even adulterers and sorcerers, and no one perishes of hunger except by his own choice. But consider: He clothes and feeds all, yet if we remain in our sins, what profit is it? His mercy is not a license to continue in the very things that destroy the soul.

You call addiction a little monster. Do not be deceived; it is no little monster, but a thick, evil humor gathered upon the eye of the heart, just like the love of money. It blinds you utterly. You ask forgiveness for your bad decisions and choices, but forgiveness without amendment is a mockery. Honor God not by words alone, but by works and deeds. How will you honor Him while the cup of drunkenness still rules your hand? First learn how you became blind, and then you may recover your sight. Renounce the thing itself, not merely the guilt of it.

Your wife was given to you as a help-meet, and marriage is a bond ordained by God. It is not unholy, but it preserves holiness by keeping each of you from defilement. Yet you have both let this monster into the marriage chamber, corrupting what God meant for your mutual salvation. Do you wish her to cease smoking? Then first cease your own drunkenness. Become for her a pattern of self-control. The lost member may yet be reclaimed through the marriage, if you will walk in chastity and order. But while the stench of strong drink hangs about you, how can you call her to virtue? Honor your wife by making your home an ointment of holy living, not a place where harlot-like passions dance.

You ask for a softer heart in your wife, and you give thanks that she is trying to be nicer. This is a mercy, but do not rest there. Remember what is written: Follow peace with all men, and holiness. Holiness in marriage means not merely the absence of bodily unfaithfulness, but an ordered life that shuns every excess. When you bear her faults thankfully, even as you wrestle with your own, your reward will be greater, whether or not He restores all things in this life.

As for becoming a better father and worker, these are good desires, but they will only be fulfilled when you first become a true servant of God. Your children need to see in you not a man who merely speaks of God while his breath betrays him, but one in whom the Divine Spirit has put to death the deeds of the flesh. Be merciful to them, as your heavenly Father is merciful, by giving them the example of a changed life.

You speak of retiring in five years. Take great care. The love of ease can become a new blinding humor, just as drink has been. If God grants you a season of leisure, let it be for attending upon the Lord without distraction, for diligence in prayer and good works, not for idle comfort. Many a man, once freed from the necessity of labor, has fallen into deeper sins because he had no discipline for his soul.

God has not given up on you, and for this you rightly love Him. He created you when you were not, He breathed into you a living soul, He set you over the works of His hands and crowned you with glory and honor. Do not despise that crown by returning to the vomit. Rise up, the door of repentance is still open. Let your prayer be not only supplication but also a covenant: “I will break this bond of wickedness, I will restore the honor of my marriage, I will live soberly and righteously.” Then you will see, even if late, the recovery of sight.
