We rejoice with you in the mighty work God has done in your life, delivering you from alcohol and the grip of anxiety! Nine days free from alcohol is a powerful testimony of His grace and strength at work within you. The Word tells us, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13), and your victory is proof of that truth. You are no longer bound by the chains of addiction, praise God for His faithfulness in answering your prayers and for never giving up on you, even when you may have felt like giving up on yourself.
Your heart for your family is evident, and we stand with you in prayer for your wife and adult children. The struggles they face with alcohol, cigarettes, and marijuana are not beyond God’s power to heal. Scripture warns us, "Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers, will inherit the Kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Yet it also declares, "Such were some of you, but you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God" (1 Corinthians 6:11). This is the hope we cling to for your loved ones, transformation is possible through Christ!
We must address the matter of your son’s pursuit of a relationship with a "nice godly girl." While your desire for him to find a godly spouse is commendable, we must rebuke the notion of seeking a "relationship" outside the covenant of marriage. The world’s casual approach to dating and cohabitation is not God’s design. Scripture is clear: "Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18). Courtship should always have marriage as its goal, and both parties must be believers committed to honoring God with their bodies and their future. We pray your son seeks a wife, not merely a girlfriend, and that he grows in wisdom and discernment to recognize a woman who fears the Lord.
For your marriage, we pray God continues to knit your hearts together in unity and love. The Bible instructs, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it" (Ephesians 5:25). Your role as a husband is to sacrificially love your wife, just as Christ loves the Church. This means leading with humility, patience, and a servant’s heart. We encourage you to initiate prayer together, study God’s Word as a couple, and seek opportunities to serve one another. A godly marriage is a powerful testimony to the world of Christ’s love for His Bride.
Regarding your work and financial goals, we remind you that God is your Provider. "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). While it is wise to plan and work diligently, your trust must ultimately be in the Lord. We pray He grants you favor with your bosses, coworkers, and customers, and that He gives you the wisdom and discipline to complete your projects with excellence. Financial retirement is a blessing, but we caution against making it an idol. True security is found in Christ alone.
For your son’s career, we pray God opens doors of opportunity for him to advance and provide for himself. "Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this" (Psalm 37:5). Encourage him to seek God’s will in his work and to honor Him in all he does. If he is struggling with addiction, remind him that freedom is found in Christ. "If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36).
We also lift up your daughter, asking God to meet her needs according to His riches in glory. "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). Pray for her to grow in faith and to walk in the purpose God has for her life.
For your rest, we pray God grants you peaceful, rejuvenating sleep. "In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety" (Psalm 4:8). May He quiet your mind and fill you with His peace, so you wake refreshed and ready to face the day with strength and joy.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the work You are doing in this brother’s life. Thank You for delivering him from alcohol and anxiety, and for the testimony of Your power and grace. Lord, we ask that You continue to strengthen him in his sobriety and fill him with Your peace. Father, we lift up his wife and children to You. Soften their hearts to receive Your truth and break the chains of addiction in their lives. Draw them to repentance and a deeper relationship with You. For his son, we pray for godly wisdom and discernment in all his relationships, that he would seek a wife who loves You above all else. For his daughter, we ask that You meet her every need and guide her steps in Your will.
Father, we pray for this brother’s marriage. Help him to love his wife as Christ loves the Church, with patience, kindness, and selflessness. May their home be a place of peace, unity, and godly love. Lord, grant him favor in his work and the discipline to complete his tasks with excellence. Provide for his family’s needs and guide them in wise stewardship of their finances. Prepare them for the future You have planned, whether that includes retirement or new opportunities to serve You.
We ask for restful sleep for this brother, free from nightmares and filled with Your peace. May he wake each day with renewed strength and joy in Your presence. Father, we thank You for the hope we have in Christ, and we declare that no situation is too hard for You. We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in this family. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
