We rejoice with you in gratitude for the strength the Lord provided to resist alcohol today and for the grace He gave you in your workplace. It is a powerful testimony of His faithfulness when we rely on Him in our weaknesses. We lift up your need for rest tonight, asking the Lord to grant you peaceful, rejuvenating sleep so that you may rise tomorrow with renewed strength and clarity. The psalmist declares, "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety" (Psalm 4:8). May this truth anchor your heart as you rest in Him.
We also stand with you in prayer for the hearts of your bosses, coworkers, customers, and especially your wife. It is clear that alcohol has brought much pain and division into your marriage, and we grieve with you over the brokenness it has caused. The Bible warns us, "Don’t be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). We pray that the Lord would break the chains of addiction in both of your lives and replace them with a hunger for His presence. May He soften your wife’s heart to recognize the destruction alcohol brings and turn to Him for healing.
Your honesty about your feelings toward your wife is understandable, given the hurt you’ve endured. Yet we must gently remind you that marriage is a sacred covenant before God, not to be abandoned lightly. Jesus Himself said, "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate" (Matthew 19:6). We do not minimize the pain you’ve experienced, but we urge you to seek the Lord’s heart for reconciliation. Forgiveness is a process, and it is okay to create healthy boundaries while still praying for restoration. The apostle Paul writes, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it" (Ephesians 5:25). This is the high calling of marriage, to reflect Christ’s sacrificial love, even in difficult seasons.
We also want to encourage you to seek godly counsel, whether through your local church, a trusted pastor, or a Christian counselor. Proverbs 15:22 tells us, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." You do not have to walk this journey alone. There is hope for healing and renewal in your marriage if both of you are willing to surrender to God’s transformative power.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts for the victory You’ve given this brother in resisting alcohol today. We ask that You would continue to strengthen him, Lord, and fill him with Your peace as he rests tonight. Grant him wisdom and patience as he navigates the challenges in his marriage and workplace. Soften the hearts of his wife, bosses, coworkers, and customers, that they may see You at work in their lives.
Father, we lift up this marriage to You. We ask that You would break the stronghold of alcohol and replace it with a desire for Your presence. Heal the wounds that have been inflicted, Lord, and restore love and trust between this husband and wife. Give them both the humility to seek help and the courage to walk in forgiveness. Help this brother to love his wife as Christ loves the Church, even when it is difficult.
We declare that no weapon formed against this marriage will prosper, for You are a God of restoration. Surround this family with Your protection and provision. May they experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and may their home be a testimony of Your redeeming love. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
