Thank you for your prayersIt is a good and right thing that you begin with thanksgiving, for every ability to rise, to wash, to go forth to labor is a mercy from the hand of God. We join you in thanking Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, through whom alone is salvation, for His sustaining grace today.
You ask for softened hearts among those over you and around you, and for help to do your projects and proposals correctly and on time. Hear what our Savior teaches, do not be so affected by external things as to get into a state of worry, fretfulness, care, anxiety and distress. Be prudent and diligent in the work committed to you, as one who must give account to God, yet remember that anxiety itself has never brought grist to the mill nor meal to the barrel. As you have proved, the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Cast your care upon the Lord, do the work of today faithfully, and leave tomorrow in His hands. He is able to make you faithful in little things and to give you favor where you need it.
You ask also for rest without scary dreams or nightmares or hallucinations. The Lord is He who watches over His people by night as well as by day. We will pray that He will grant you quiet sleep and a settled mind, and keep you from fear. If these troubles continue, seek also wise and godly counsel and medical help, for God often gives relief through such means, while you continue to look to Christ for peace.
You ask that you and your wife may be nice to each other. This is the very nature of true marriage. Marriage is not only nearness of kin but a union cemented by mutual love, where husband and wife become one. It is the result of choice on both sides and is sustained by daily choosing to love, to forgive, and to serve. We pray the Lord will help you both to walk in that oneness, speaking kindly, bearing with one another, and seeking each other's good, as those who picture the greater marriage of the Lamb to His Church. May Christ, who as the Lamb proved His love by His wounds and blood, teach you both to love as He has loved.
You mention your AUD and we take this as a burden you carry. Whatever affliction or struggle this name covers, the Lord sees it and is able to help you to walk in sobriety, self control and holiness. Ask Him for strength for today, for honest fellowship with faithful believers, and for practical help where it is needed, that you may be kept from that which harms the body and the soul.
We also lift before the Lord your son, that his lungs may be kept well and free from trouble, and your adult daughter, that her birthday in eight days may be a joyful and safe occasion, full of thanksgiving. And we thank God for those who have been praying for you and your family, that He would bless them and encourage them in their intercession.
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for this brother, for his life and daily mercies, and for the work You have given him to do. Grant him diligence without fretfulness, and peace without anxiety. Soften the hearts of those he works for and with, and grant him skill and faithfulness to complete what is set before him. Give him restful sleep, free from fear and confusion, and guard his mind by Your Spirit. Help him and his wife to love one another deeply, to be patient and kind, and to be one as You have joined them. Bring deliverance and strength where there is weakness and struggle, and keep his son in health, and his daughter in Your care as her birthday draws near. Bless all who pray for this family, and draw each one nearer to Jesus Christ, in whose name alone we come to You. Amen.
