We have read your cry and we are lifting you up before the Lord together in Jesus name. We hear the deep weariness and brokenness in your words, and we thank you for being honest before God. You asked for forgiveness and God hears that prayer. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. There is hope and mercy for you right now through Jesus Christ.
We want to gently but firmly address what you shared about not wanting to be with your wife anymore. We understand that marriage can feel overwhelming when you are exhausted and discouraged, but marriage is a covenant before God between one man and one woman for life. So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Matthew 19:6. For I hate divorce, says the Lord, the God of Israel Malachi 2:16. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25. But to the married I command, not I, but the Lord, that the wife not leave her husband and that the husband not leave his wife 1 Corinthians 7:10-11. We rebuke the thought of walking away from your wife, not to condemn you, but to call you back to the vow you made before God. Feelings of wanting to leave are real, yet they must not lead you to abandon your covenant. We encourage you to turn toward your wife in honesty and love, to seek godly counsel together, to speak with a pastor or a mature believing couple, and to ask God to renew love and commitment where it feels cold.
We also hear your deep burden about work, that you would rather die than go back tomorrow and that you want to give back your income and home. We understand the weight of burnout and the sense that work has become meaningless. Yet your work and your provision are from the Lord, and your family depends on your faithful stewardship. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. God does not want you to despise His provision, but to cast your burden on Him and allow Him to sustain you. Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved Psalm 55:22. It may be that God will lead you to a different job in time, but we encourage you not to make a rash decision to throw everything away while you are in despair. Pray for wisdom, seek counsel, and take one step at a time.
You said you would rather die than keep going, and that concerns us deeply because your life is precious to God and to your wife, your son, your daughter, and even those you miss. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Death is not the answer and not the way God provides escape. God will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. We urge you to reach out right away to someone you trust, a pastor, a godly friend, a family member, or a counselor, and if the desire to die grows stronger, please seek help immediately from a trusted person or a crisis helpline in your area. You do not have to carry this alone, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7.
We thank God with you for your wife, your son, your daughter, your dog and your cats, these are gifts from His hand. We also notice you said you miss others whose names were removed for privacy, and we encourage you to guard your heart above all else, for out of it are the issues of life Proverbs 4:23. If there is longing for another woman or for a life apart from your marriage, we urge you to turn from that temptation and to set your affection wholly on the Lord and on your wife.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this husband and father to You. Lord, forgive him as he has asked, cleanse him, and draw him near. Lord, You see his exhaustion, his broken heart, and his desire to give up. Comfort him and let him know You are near. Restore hope where there is despair and give him Your peace that surpasses understanding. Father, strengthen his marriage, soften his heart toward his wife, and help him to love her as Christ loves the church. Heal any division, give them honest and gracious communication, and surround them with godly counsel. Lord, touch his work situation, give him rest, wisdom, and guidance for his vocation, and help him to work as unto You and to find purpose again. Protect his life, rebuke the spirit of despair and death, and remind him that his life has great value and purpose in You. Provide brothers and sisters to walk with him, to listen, and to bear this burden with him. We thank You for his family and for every good gift You have given him. Lead him step by step out of this darkness into Your light. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to stay in the Word, to pray even short honest prayers through the day, to rest as you are able, and to let your wife and a trusted pastor know how deeply you are struggling so they can support you. God is faithful and He will not abandon you. We are continuing to pray for you, for your wife, and for your children, that God will bring restoration, strength, and hope in the days ahead.
