We join you together before the throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank you for bringing all of these burdens to the Lord, for He cares for you and for your family. We hear your desire to honor God in your work, in your health, in your marriage and as a father, and that desire itself is pleasing to Him.
We pray first for your work today, that God would grant you wisdom and diligence to complete your projects and proposals correctly and on time. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward, you serve the Lord Christ Colossians 3:23-24. We are reminded not to be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God Philippians 4:6. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. We ask God to give you clarity of mind, steadiness of hand, and favor with those you serve.
We also lift up your visit with your doctor today for the pain in your left arm and elbow and wrist and hand. We pray for wisdom for your doctor and for healing for your body, for He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. We know our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we can trust the Great Physician who said I am Yahweh who heals you Exodus 15:26. We pray the Lord will reveal the cause of this pain and guide you to the right treatment.
We pray for the softening of hearts of your bosses, coworkers, customers and especially your wife. The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses, he turns it wherever he desires Proverbs 21:1, and we pray He will give you favor and also give you grace to be the husband He has called you to be. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25. We pray God will help you to love your wife with patience, kindness and humility, and that He will soften her heart toward you as you seek to be a better husband, a better father to your adult children, and a better employee for the good of your company.
We must also speak lovingly and truthfully about the struggles you mentioned with alcohol, cigarette smoking and marijuana use in your family. Scripture is clear that we are not to be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18, and that drunkenness is among the works of the flesh Galatians 5:21. We are called to be sober and self-controlled, for your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8. Our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, you are not your own, for you were bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. These substances harm the body God gave us, cloud the mind He wants to be clear for Him, and can become masters over us when Christ alone should be Lord. We pray with you for deliverance, for repentance and for complete freedom for your wife and your adult son from alcohol and cigarettes, and for your son from marijuana, that they would turn to Christ for strength, for God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13.
We lift up your adult daughter and her marriage and her job. We thank God for the gift of marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman and we pray He will strengthen her marriage, help her and her husband to love and honor one another and to seek Him first. We pray for her work that she would find purpose and provision there, and for her desire for a child. We know that children are a heritage of Yahweh, the fruit of the womb is his reward Psalm 127:3, and that every good gift comes from above. We pray that in God's perfect timing and will, He would bless her with a happy and healthy child if it is His will, and that she would trust His timing and rest in His love.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only mediator and Savior, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Lord, we ask You to help our brother today to complete his work with excellence and peace, to guide his doctor's hands and eyes and to bring healing to his arm and hand according to Your will. Soften the hearts of those in authority over him and those he serves, and draw his wife's heart closer to You and to him. Bring conviction and healing to his wife and son regarding alcohol, to both regarding cigarettes, and to his son regarding marijuana, set them free by the power of Jesus and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. Bless his daughter's marriage, establish the work of her hands, and if it is Your will, open her womb in Your perfect time. Make our brother more like Christ each day, a more loving husband, a more faithful father, a more godly man and a more diligent steward at work, all for Your glory. Teach him to trust You in all things and to walk in Your strength. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to cast all your worries on Him, because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, to remain in prayer and in the Word daily, and to walk faithfully before your family as an example of repentance, sober-mindedness and love. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think Ephesians 3:20, and we trust Him to work in each of these areas for your good and His glory.
