We hear your heart, brother, and we join you in lifting these burdens before the Lord. Your request is honest and filled with real struggles, work pressures, fear of authority, the weight of responsibility at home, and the battle with alcohol. We want to stand with you in prayer, but we must also speak truth in love, for Scripture tells us that "faithful are the wounds of a friend" (Proverbs 27:6).
First, we must address the matter of alcohol. You’ve mentioned AUD (Alcohol Use Disorder) and AWS (Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome), and this is not something to take lightly. The Bible is clear: "Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). Alcohol in excess is a snare, and withdrawal can be dangerous, even life-threatening. If you are struggling with dependence, we strongly urge you to seek help from a biblical counselor, a trusted pastor, or a medical professional who can guide you toward freedom. This is not a battle to fight alone. "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free" (Luke 4:18). Jesus came to break every chain, including this one.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our brother to You, knowing that You see every burden he carries, his work, his fears, his desire to be a better husband, father, and man of God. Lord, we ask that You would grant him supernatural focus and clarity as he completes his proposal and prepares his work for review. Give him wisdom in his words and actions, that he may honor You in all he does. "Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established" (Proverbs 16:3).
Father, we ask that You would calm his anxiety about speaking with his superiors. Remind him that "the king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases" (Proverbs 21:1). If it is Your will for him to present his work, give him boldness and peace. If it is Your will for another path, make that clear as well.
Lord, we pray for his safety as he travels to receive the equipment. Guard him on the roads, and grant him efficiency so he may return quickly to his tasks. Help him respond to his coworkers with patience and grace, even when they ask for information. "Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person" (Colossians 4:6).
We also lift up the job he is estimating. If it is not Your will for him to take on this responsibility, we ask that You would close the door and move the customer to choose another contractor. If it is Your will, provide him with a capable foreman and the resources he needs to succeed. Help him to be diligent in setting clear expectations, as You have called us to "let all things be done decently and in order" (1 Corinthians 14:40).
Father, we ask that You would help him wake up on time and arrive at his appointment promptly. Give him discipline in his daily routines, for "whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much" (Luke 16:10). Most importantly, we pray for his heart as a husband and father. Strengthen him to lead his family with love, patience, and godly wisdom. "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her" (Ephesians 5:25). Help him to cherish and nurture his children, teaching them Your ways.
Lord, we plead with You to break the grip of alcohol in his life. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in freedom and sobriety. Protect his mind and body from withdrawal, and surround him with brothers in Christ who can support and encourage him. "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36).
Finally, we ask that You would draw him closer to You each day. Remind him that his identity is not in his work, his struggles, or his failures, but in Christ alone. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come" (2 Corinthians 5:17).
We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
Brother, we want to encourage you to lean on the Lord in this season. You are not alone in your struggles, and God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Consider reaching out to a trusted friend, pastor, or biblical counselor to walk alongside you in your battle with alcohol. Confess your struggles, for "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
You are called to be a light in your workplace, your home, and your community. Let your life reflect the love and grace of Christ, and trust that He will equip you for every good work. "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10). Keep pressing into Him, and He will sustain you.
