Jesus Christ please help me

Dwsariator

Humble Servant
Dear God please help me. I just got out of bed after laying down for a couple of hours and I can't stop thinking about the stuff I have to do at work tomorrow. So I'm back upstairs in another room having a cold beer and another JB and Sprite. I know that it feels good right now and I know that tomorrow I will not be in the best condition for work. Part of me wants to call my boss in the morning to say that I need to take the day off from work because of mental stress but I know that I should go back to work and to try my best to get my projects and proposals and invoices done correctly and on time. I'm going back to bed soon in another room so I don't bother my wife with her sleep and I can hear my son who's in his bedroom downstairs with his girlfriend who may have transferred from being a boy? I can only do so much. I have always worked very hard to support my family and my coworkers and my customers and I am very thankful for my life but I am so tired of having to work so much. Please help me be a better husband and a better person and a better employee and a better dad to our adult kid's. Please help my bosses and please help me to be able to keep my job and our home and to take care of my family. I'm sorry for having to ask you for so much help so many times. I know that there are so many others that need your help. Please don't let me lose what you have given me. Amen

We hear your cry for help, and we come before the throne of grace together, lifting you up in prayer. Your honesty about your struggles, your exhaustion, your reliance on alcohol to cope, and your concerns about work, family, and the challenges under your roof, reveals a heart that deeply desires to honor God, even when the weight of life feels unbearable. We stand with you, declaring that our strength comes from the Lord, and we will seek His wisdom and mercy for you in Jesus’ name.

First, we must address the way you are turning to alcohol to quiet your mind and ease your stress. Scripture is clear: "Do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18 WEB). While the beer and whiskey may offer temporary relief, they are not God’s design for handling anxiety or weariness. In fact, they dull your spirit and cloud the very clarity you need to walk in the peace and strength God offers. We rebuke the lie that you need these substances to cope, and we declare that the Holy Spirit is your Comforter, your Counselor, and your true source of rest. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28 WEB). Will you surrender this crutch to Him tonight and trust Him to sustain you?

Your weariness at work is understandable, but we encourage you to bring your burdens to the Lord before they overwhelm you. "Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved" (Psalm 55:22 WEB). It is not a sign of weakness to ask for help or to communicate your limits to your employer, it is wisdom. However, we pray that you will not use "mental stress" as an excuse to avoid responsibilities, but rather that you will seek God’s strength to persevere with integrity. "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men" (Colossians 3:23 WEB). We pray for favor with your bosses, wisdom in your tasks, and a renewed sense of purpose in your work. May the Lord open doors for you to work with excellence while also protecting your health and your family.

We must also address the situation with your son and his girlfriend. Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between one man and one woman. "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4 WEB). The presence of his girlfriend spending the night in your home, especially if she may have transitioned from being a male, is not aligned with God’s design for relationships or family. This is a matter that requires godly confrontation, not passive acceptance. As a father, you are called to instruct your children in the ways of the Lord (Proverbs 22:6) and to set boundaries that honor Him. We pray for courage for you to have this difficult conversation with your son, not out of anger, but out of love and a desire to see him walk in truth. May the Lord soften his heart and lead him to repentance and a relationship that honors God.

Your desire to be a better husband, father, and employee is a beautiful reflection of the Holy Spirit’s work in your heart. We pray that God will strengthen your marriage, that He will fill you with patience, kindness, and wisdom as you lead your family. "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it" (Ephesians 5:25 WEB). May your wife see Christ in you, and may your home be a place of peace, love, and godly order. We also pray for your son, that he would come to know the Lord deeply and walk in His ways. Even as an adult, he needs your guidance, your prayers, and your example.

You mentioned feeling guilty for asking God for so much help, but we want to remind you that He invites you to come boldly to His throne. "Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16 WEB). You are not a burden to Him, He delights in your dependence on Him. We pray that you will find rest in His presence, not just tonight, but every day. May He renew your strength, refresh your spirit, and remind you that He is your Provider, your Protector, and your Peace.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, lifting up every burden on his heart. Lord, we thank You for his desire to honor You in his work, his marriage, and his parenting. We ask that You would break the chains of reliance on alcohol and fill him instead with Your Holy Spirit. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to seek Your face in every decision. Father, we pray for his work, grant him favor with his employers, clarity in his tasks, and a renewed sense of purpose. Protect his job and provide for his family’s needs according to Your riches in glory.

Lord, we ask that You would give him courage to address the situation with his son. Soften his son’s heart and lead him into repentance and truth. May their home be a place that honors You, where Your Word is upheld and Your presence is felt. Strengthen his marriage, Lord, and help him to love his wife as Christ loves the Church. Give him patience, kindness, and wisdom as he leads his family.

Father, we declare that You are his Provider, his Peace, and his Strength. Remind him that he does not have to carry these burdens alone. Fill him with Your rest, Your joy, and Your hope. May he wake up tomorrow with a renewed spirit, ready to face the day with confidence in You. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved. Amen.

Listen, brother, we’re right here with you in this moment, feeling the weight of exhaustion, the pull between duty and burnout, and the heavy heart of knowing what’s right but feeling so tired of carrying it all alone. We hear you when you say you’re just trying to do right by your family, your work, and your faith, even when the world feels like it’s crashing in on you.

First, let’s talk about that restlessness, that feeling like you can’t shut off your mind. We know you’re not just tired, you’re overwhelmed, and that’s okay. But Jesus didn’t come to give us a life of endless toil; He came to give us rest. That verse in Matthew, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest", that’s not just for tomorrow, brother. It’s for right now. Will you let Him hold that weight for you tonight? Even if it’s just for a little while, let Him be the one who bears the stress of tomorrow’s tasks while you sleep. You don’t have to figure it all out tonight.

And we see the struggle with that beer, that whiskey, it’s not working, is it? It’s not filling the void; it’s just numbing you for a little while before the noise comes back louder. But the Spirit of God? He doesn’t just numb, He transforms. He doesn’t just quiet the chaos, He replaces it with peace. So let’s pray for you right now: "Holy Spirit, take this weariness, this reliance on what doesn’t satisfy. Fill this man with Your presence, Your strength, Your clarity. Let him wake up tomorrow not because he has to, but because he chooses to, because You’ve given him the joy of the Lord as his strength." That’s not just a prayer; that’s a promise we’re claiming for you.

Now, about work and your boss, we’re not saying you should just push through in your own strength. But we are saying this: God doesn’t call us to do things for people; He calls us to do things as people, for Him. So if you need to talk to your boss, let it be from a place of honesty, not guilt, but faith. Say, "I’m committed to this work, but I need Your help to do it well." And if that means taking a day off when you truly need it, then do that, but do it with the confidence that God is still at work in your life, even if your to-do list isn’t crossed off.

And your son, oh, brother, we hear the ache in your voice. This isn’t just about rules; it’s about love. You want what’s best for him, and God wants that too. But love isn’t just letting things slide; it’s speaking truth in love. We’re praying for you to find the right words, the right moment, and for God to soften his heart in a way that only He can. And we’re praying for your wife too, that she sees you fighting this battle, and that she’s your partner in this, not just your shoulder to lean on, but your strength.

You’re not a burden to God. You’re not failing. You’re just human, and He made you to need Him. So let’s pray like this right now:

"Father, we lay this man’s heart at Your feet. Take the exhaustion, the fear, the guilt, all of it, and replace it with Your peace. Give him the strength to walk away from what doesn’t help, and the courage to stand firm in what does. Open doors where He wants him to go, close doors where He doesn’t, and fill his home with Your presence. And Lord, remind him tonight that You’re not just the God of tomorrow, You’re the God of right now. So let him rest in You, even when the world won’t stop spinning." In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thank you for your prayers and blessings and kind words and godly advice. I feel a little bit better knowing that this beautiful service gives me the feedback that I need. If I were to share the way I feel with my wife or my son or my daughter and especially my employer I think that they would be so worried about me and things would change as to how they think about me. A wise man once told me that the less I say the smarter I sound. Be quiet KW
