I asked a lot of prayers because of a life-threatening electrical problem in my rented apartment. Thank God, I survived and moved out. But the story hasn't seemed to end there.
While I was living in the apartment, I noticed that someone might have entered it several times, as evidenced by the position of the lock and some other signs. After many months and much unclear communication, it seems possible that they intentionally tried to kill me. I don't know for sure. Only God knows what is in their hearts and what their intentions are, but it is written in Psalms 34:21–23: Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. Affliction will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. Last week, a woman I had never spoken to before came up to me angrily and shouted lies and accusations at me. She said that I had entered the house where she and the ex-landlord live. She heard this from someone else and tried to accuse me and destroy me. Thank God the Lord protected me again. Please pray for the residents of the house so that they can see the truth, because I never entered their apartment. However, it is highly likely that someone entered the apartment while I was living in that life-threatening flat. If this woman hired technicians to damage the heating system and disconnect consumers from the RCD, causing electric shocks during showers, then I pray that this is exposed. However this happened, God will show the truth. The landlord is avoiding me and is not willing to speak to me. NO REMORSE! Please pray that the Holy Spirit touches him so that he stops lying and takes responsibility!

These people have not apologised to me or compensated me after nearly three months of moving out. Please pray. May God break their hardness. May they have a heart of flesh. May they hear His call. May they submit to Him.

We join you in prayer and thank God with you that He delivered you from that life threatening electrical danger in your rented apartment and that He protected you again when you were falsely accused by this woman. We hear your distress and your desire for truth to be revealed, and we bring all of this before the Lord together in Jesus' name.

You are right that only God knows what is in the hearts of people and what their true intentions are. We take comfort in Psalm 34:19-22, Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all. He protects all of his bones. Not one of them is broken. Evil shall kill the wicked. Those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. And we cling to Psalm 91:1-2, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.

We understand your fear when you ask if this aggressive woman might have hired people to harm you, and when you recall signs that someone may have entered your apartment and the serious danger from the heating system and the disconnected RCD that caused electric shocks while showering. It is a terrible thing to live under such threat and then to be shouted at and falsely accused of entering their house. Yet we must gently encourage you not to settle in your heart on an unproven accusation that they intentionally tried to kill you. It is good that you say you do not know for sure, for God calls us to speak truth and not to bear false witness. We are told in Luke 8:17, For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed; nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. We can trust the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, to expose what needs to be exposed in His perfect time and way, without us having to live in tormenting fear.

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self control as it says in 2 Timothy 1:7, and we pray that He will replace fear and suspicion with His perfect peace. We also hear your righteous desire for responsibility and even compensation after nearly three months with no remorse or apology from the landlord who now avoids you. We pray that God will indeed soften hard hearts, as He promises in Ezekiel 36:26, I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. May the Lord touch both the landlord and this woman, convict them if they have lied or acted negligently, and lead them to truth, repentance and responsibility.

At the same time we encourage you to walk in both faith and wisdom. If you have not already, we urge you to document everything that happened with the electrical system, keep any reports from electricians or technicians, and if you believe a crime or serious endangerment occurred, to seek counsel from the proper civil authorities who are appointed by God to uphold justice, as taught in Romans 13:4. We also encourage you to continue to guard your personal safety, to have trustworthy witnesses if you must have any contact with these people, and to answer false accusations with gentleness as Proverbs 15:1 teaches, A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

We must leave vengeance and judgment to the Lord, for Romans 12:19 says, Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. Our call is to pray for those who have wronged us and to not be overcome by evil, but to overcome evil with good as Romans 12:21 says.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who is the way, the truth, and the life, and through whom alone we have access to You. We thank You that You are our refuge and deliverer and that You kept our dear one from death in that apartment and again from the attack of false accusation. Lord, You see all that has happened with the electrical system, the locks, the entries, the shocks in the shower, and the harsh words spoken. Nothing is hidden from You. We ask that You let Your truth shine and expose any wrongdoing, negligence, or deceit, and that You protect Your child from all harm and from the spirit of fear. Grant peace that surpasses understanding as Philippians 4:6-7 promises, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Holy Spirit, we ask You to touch the heart of the former landlord and this woman. Convict them of any lies, break their hardness, give them hearts of flesh that hear Your call and submit to You. Bring them to repentance, to humility, and to take responsibility for what is theirs to bear. If compensation or justice is due, we ask that You move upon the proper means to bring it about according to Your will. For our friend, give wisdom for every next step, discernment to know what to pursue and what to release into Your hands, and grace to forgive as You have forgiven us, while still seeking truth in love.

We declare that no weapon formed against Your child shall prosper and that You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on You. We trust You as our righteous Judge and our loving Father. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We are so thankful you got out of that apartment safely, and we hear how heavy these last months have been. To live for a long time with electric shocks in your own home and then to be confronted and accused by someone you did not know would leave anyone feeling on edge and unsafe, even after moving.

It makes sense that you are still turning over what happened and wanting the truth to be clear. When we have been through something frightening, our minds can stay on high alert, replaying details and trying to sort what was intentional and what was not. Only God fully knows hearts and motives, and we can rest in His care while we seek wisdom for the next steps.

It may help to have one or two trusted people walk with you in this. If you have not already, consider writing down dates and facts as you remember them and keeping any tenancy documents together, then sharing them with a pastor you trust or a local housing advice service who can help you think calmly about communication with the landlord and any question of compensation. Having someone objective beside you can make it less overwhelming to sort through. And please have your current home checked by a qualified electrician so you can feel more settled there.

We are praying for you, for peace in your new place, and for softened hearts where there has been hardness.

Father, we bring our brother before You in Jesus name. Thank You for protecting him and bringing him out safely. Give him rest, clear wisdom, and people around him who will listen well and give sound counsel. Lead him to truth in Your way and time, guard his safety and dignity, and work in the hearts of the landlord and others involved to act with honesty and responsibility. Draw each one closer to You. We have read your letter with much care and with prayerful sympathy, and we give thanks with you that the Lord delivered you out of that life threatening danger in your rented apartment. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones, not one of them is broken. That you survived the electrical peril and were brought out safely is of the Lord's mercy, and we join you in blessing Him for it.

You describe a season of fear and trembling that has not yet ended, suspicions that someone entered your dwelling, an angry accusation from a woman you had never spoken to, and a landlord who will not speak with you or take responsibility. There were both fear and faith battling together in your soul, as with Jacob when he cried, Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, for I fear him. When the Christian begins to sink under great trouble, the enemy shoots his arrows and would have us believe that God's ear is shut and He will never move His arm to work deliverance. This arrow is very often shot, but it must be broken in pieces by the thought of God's everlasting mercy and His boundless power to keep His own.

We do not know the hearts or intentions of those you name, and as you rightly say, only God knows what is in their hearts. His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are far above ours, as high as the heavens are above the earth. What is hidden from us is naked and open before Him, and the Truth of God will stand to the front. The name of Jesus is still high over all, in earth or sky, and before it devils fear and fly. We will pray that the Lord, who is all truth and faithfulness, will bring what is true to light in His perfect time and way, whether it be through lawful inquiry, honest testimony, or the quiet conviction of conscience. If wrong has been done in the tampering with the heating system or the safety devices, we pray that it will be exposed and dealt with justly, not for vengeance which belongs to the Lord, but for truth and for the protection of others.

We will pray for you, that the Lord will keep you in perfect peace as you trust in Him, that you will know the Truth of God's salvation not only as doctrine but as a sweet sense of sonship in trial, and that you will be kept from both dread and bitterness. We will pray also for the residents of that house and for your former landlord. We ask the Lord to wield His Word as a fire and as a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces, for His Word has power to break hardness of heart. May He take away the heart of stone and give a heart of flesh, that there may be remorse where there has been hardness, truth where there has been lying, and a willingness to take responsibility where there has been evasion. We pray that the Holy Spirit will touch them, convict them of sin and lead them to repentance, and that they may hear His effectual call, for when He calls His sheep by name they hear His voice and follow Him.

We pray that you may be enabled to forgive as you have been forgiven, for with Him there is forgiveness that He may be feared, and that holy fear is not dread but reverence and love. Forgiveness does not set aside truth or lawful responsibility, and you do well to seek wise counsel and to let proper authorities examine what can be examined, to keep records, and to seek protection as needed, while leaving wrath in the hands of God who will execute judgment and justice.

Let your best pleas lie within the compass of God's character and God's promises. You said, I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth which You have showed unto Your servant, and that humble posture is the place of safety. Plead His promise, I will surely do you good, and He who led Jacob through his fear to see Esau fall upon his neck and kiss him is able to keep you and to turn even accusation to your good.

We now commend you to the Lord in prayer.

O Lord our God, who thinks lovingly upon Thy people and supplies their needs, we thank Thee that Thou hast delivered our brother out of great peril. Keep him now under the shadow of Thy wing. Let no weapon formed against him prosper, and let every lying tongue be brought to silence in Thine own time. Show the truth, for Thou art the God of truth, and vindicate the innocent as Thou seest fit. Work by Thy Word as fire and hammer upon hard hearts, give hearts of flesh where there are hearts of stone, bring conviction and true repentance where there has been deceit and hardness, and grant forgiveness and reconciliation where it is pleasing to Thee. Teach Thy servant to rest in Thy higher thoughts and ways, to fear Thee with holy reverence, to forgive as he has been forgiven through the blood of Jesus shed on the accursed tree, and to hope still in Thy mercy. Through Jesus Christ our only Saviour, who loved us and gave Himself for us, Amen.

We have heard your request and we have prayed for you with care. We thank God with you that He preserved your life through that dangerous electrical fault and brought you out of that apartment safely. We understand how heavy this has remained on your heart, with the questions about who entered your home, the fear that harm was intended, and now the painful public accusation from a woman you do not know.

Only God sees what is in the heart and knows every intention. For that reason we must be very careful not to settle in our minds that others have plotted to kill you when we do not have clear knowledge. Scripture warns that we will give an account for every idle word, and that whether an accusation is true or false, to speak it rashly harms our own soul. If a wrong was truly done, those responsible will give an account to God who judges justly, and if an accusation is false, those who spoke it will also answer to Him. Our part is to love truth, to not retain suspicion or offense inwardly, but to seek truth in the right way, and to leave vengeance to the Lord.

This is true also for the accusation now made against you. You say you never entered that house, yet you are being blamed as if you did. It is a painful thing to be slandered, especially when you have already suffered. The Lord knows the truth of this matter as well, and He is able to make it plain. As you quoted, many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps watch over His own, and He will bring what is hidden into the light in His time.

We will pray for you and for those involved.

We pray that God will keep you in perfect peace and guard you from all real danger, that He will free you from anxiety and fear, and that He will give you wisdom not to rush into needless danger but to walk prudently. If there was true wrongdoing with the electrical system, we pray that the truth would be exposed through lawful and orderly means, and we encourage you, where there may still be risk to others, to let the proper authorities and qualified persons examine the facts, to keep records, and to seek wise counsel so that truth can be established without rash judgment. We pray that the Lord would protect you from every false accusation and give you grace to bear affliction patiently.

We pray also for the landlord and for the residents of that house, and for the woman who accused you. We ask that the Holy Spirit would soften hardness of heart and give a heart of flesh in place of a heart of stone, that He would convict of any lying or evasion of responsibility, and lead to honest confession and to making right what was done wrong. We pray that they would hear His call, submit to Him, and come to know salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved. We pray that God would turn rivalry and suspicion into a desire for truth and peace.
