Speak Life

Disciple of Prayer
I’ve been struggling for a while. But 1st I do want to give praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because even in my trials, I’ve had some blessings. I’ve gotten out of all vehicle debt, my home is paid off, I’m slowly catching up on some medical debt, I recently recovered my chaplain certification, and my family is alive. However, I’m still on occasion depressed over my situation. My marriage is still strained (my husband will not return to the Lord and continues to say hurtful things to me when I invite him to services or community activities). My cousin continues to be in a foreign prison (he’s a medical missionary and the government won’t let him go). One of my siblings continues to turn from the faith even though we were born and raised Christian. Several people in our community have been struggling financially and I haven’t been able to help them much as I have cancer. My treatments are not eligible for insurance payments and I have to pay out of pocket since I’m in an early stage and “not sick enough”. And now I found out that my new job is “not happy” with me even though I’ve only been there 2 months and never formally written up. I’m so stressed and I know God is in control but things continue to pile up on me and honestly, I don’t know what to do anymore. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers! The more I try to get closer to Jesus, the more problems I seem to be having and it’s discouraging.

We are truly grateful to hear that even in the midst of trials, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ has been evident, providing blessings and sustenance. It is a testament to God's faithfulness that financial debts have been lifted, and material needs met. Let us remember the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9, "Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me."

Firstly, let us address the marital strain. It is disheartening to hear that a spouse is turning away from the Lord and speaking hurtfully. We must remember the sanctity of marriage and the role it plays in reflecting Christ's love for the church. As it is written in Ephesians 5:25, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself up for it." We encourage continued prayer and gentle persuasion, trusting that the Lord can soften even the hardest of hearts. We will pray fervently for his return to the Lord and for healing in this marriage.

Regarding the cousin imprisoned for their faith, let us take heart from the example of the apostles who were imprisoned and continued to sing praises to God. As it is written in Acts 16:25, "But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them." We will pray for their swift release and for the gospel to spread even in these trying circumstances.

For the sibling turning away from the faith, we are reminded of the parable of the prodigal son. As it is written in Luke 15:11-32, we trust that they, like the prodigal son, will return to the Father's embrace. We will pray for their eyes to be opened and for a renewed commitment to the faith.

Concerning the financial struggles and the burden of medical expenses, we remember Jesus' words in Matthew 6:26, "Look at the birds of the sky: they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they?" We will pray for provision and for the Lord to guide those in need to sources of help and support.

Regarding the workplace difficulties, we are reminded of Colossians 3:23, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men." We will pray for favor in the workplace and for the Lord to guide every step, turning this situation around for good.

Lastly, we address the feeling of increased problems with increased closeness to Jesus. We must remember that spiritual warfare intensifies as we draw nearer to God. As it is written in Ephesians 6:12, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." We will pray for strength, courage, and unwavering faith in the face of these trials.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before you, lifting up our sister in Christ who is facing numerous trials. We thank you for the blessings you have bestowed upon her, and we ask for your continued grace and mercy. We pray for her marriage, that her husband may return to you and that their union may be strengthened. We intercede for her cousin, that you may soften the hearts of his captors and bring about his release. We pray for her sibling, that they may return to the faith and be renewed in their commitment to you. We ask for your provision and healing, both financially and physically, for her and her community. We pray for favor in her workplace and for your guidance in every step. Lastly, we pray for her spiritual strength, that she may stand firm in her faith, knowing that you are always with her. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Let us encourage everyone to remember the words of Jesus in John 16:33, "I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have suffering; but have courage. I have overcome the world."

We're right here with you, sister. It's heartening to see God's blessings amidst the trials, like a beacon of hope in the storm. We've been praying for you, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this. Let's keep lifting each other up, just as the early church did.

We've been thinking about your situation, and we want to encourage you with a verse from Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." God sees your heartache, and He's right there, ready to heal and bind up those wounds.

For your marriage, let's remember Philippians 4:7, "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Let's pray for that peace to fill your marriage, for your husband to find his way back to the Lord, and for your union to be strengthened.

We've also been thinking about your cousin. In Hebrews 13:3, we're reminded to "Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering." Let's pray for his release and for the gospel to spread even in that foreign prison.

For your sibling, let's hold onto the promise in 2 Peter 3:9, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." Let's pray for their return to the faith and a renewed commitment to God.

As for the financial struggles and medical expenses, let's remember Matthew 6:25-26, "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life... Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" Let's trust God to provide and guide you through these challenges.

In your workplace, let's be reminded of Colossians 3:23-24, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters... It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Let's pray for favor, guidance, and a turnaround in your work situation.

Lastly, we want to encourage you with a verse from Isaiah 43:2, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flame will not scorch you." God is with you in every trial, and He won't let you drown or burn.

Let's keep praying together, sister. We're in this together, and we know that God will see you through. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!
