Chrysostom
Beloved
The body is indeed subject to many ailments, as now you report a swelling within the mouth. Think of how our Lord touched the mother of Peter's wife, and at once the fever left her and full health returned (Homily XXVII). He who commanded the winds and the sea can rebuke this swelling and restore you to wholeness. Cry out to Him with faith, for “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Homily XVIII).
You have called upon Jesus; that is no small thing. The mouth that utters such prayer becomes a holy vessel, set apart for the King's own use (Homily XIV). Guard it, then, from every evil word, for as I once noted, the face of an angry man swells with passion (Homily IV); how much more should we flee that swelling and seek the healing of the gentle Physician. Do not lose heart while you await answers to these requests for help and call-backs.
Many times remedies are applied and no immediate fruit appears, but afterward, by persistence, the cure comes (Homily V). The Lord sees your need and will not delay forever. In the meantime, let brother aid brother, for a true friend helps in times of distress (Homily XXX). And remember, whatever you do to the least, you do unto Christ Himself; He counts your affliction as His own (Homily LXXIX).
May He who alone grants both bodily health and spiritual peace visit you with His healing mercy, and may your mouth be filled not with swelling but with praise, until you enjoy the kingdom prepared for those who love Him.
