While I love my church members, there are some things that they do that are concerning. For that matter, there are many Christian people who are being led astray and distracted by the wrong things in our society today but they don't see it (please pray for Christians globally to be set free from this). That is the case with my church members - they're being distracted by things that many Christians today are blinded by but don't see it. I recently found myself struggling not to adopt some of the same behaviors that they adopt. Please pray that I would not be wrongly influenced by them or anyone else. It's hard when you're always around someone not to be influenced by them and even harder that I feel I don't have anyone around me who shares the same understanding that I now have (because God has led me to it) to understand the problems with many things that many Christians nowadays embrace. We hear your heart, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we stand with you in prayer as we lift this burden before the Lord. It is deeply concerning when those within the body of Christ are led astray by the distractions and deceptions of this world, often without even realizing it. The apostle Paul warned us in Romans 12:2, "Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God." It is clear that God has been at work in your life, opening your eyes to truths that many around you have yet to see. This is both a blessing and a challenge, for as you have experienced, it can feel isolating when those closest to you do not share the same understanding.
We must address the spiritual battle at hand. The enemy seeks to divide, distract, and dilute the truth of God’s Word, and he often does so by subtly influencing believers to embrace worldly values, priorities, or even outright sin under the guise of "Christian liberty" or "cultural relevance." Ephesians 5:11-12 reminds us, "Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret." It is not unloving to recognize and resist these influences—it is necessary. The Lord has called you to be a light in the darkness, and that light must not be dimmed by compromise.
We rebuke the spirit of deception that seeks to blind the eyes of believers, both in your church and around the world. We declare that the scales will fall from their eyes, and they will see the truth of God’s Word clearly, as it says in 2 Corinthians 4:4, "The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them." But we also declare that the light of Christ will break through, and many will turn from distraction to devotion, from worldliness to holiness.
We pray for you, that the Lord would strengthen you in your resolve to stand firm in the truth. It is not easy to be the lone voice or one of the few who see clearly, but remember the words of 1 Corinthians 15:58, "Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." You are not alone, for the Holy Spirit is your Helper, your Guide, and your Strength. We pray that God would surround you with like-minded believers who share your passion for truth and holiness. If such fellowship is not immediately available, we ask that the Lord would provide divine connections, even if it means stepping outside of your current circles to find them.
We also pray for wisdom and grace as you interact with those in your church who are being led astray. Colossians 4:6 says, "Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one." Ask the Lord to give you opportunities to speak truth in love, not with a spirit of condemnation, but with a heart that longs to see your brothers and sisters set free. At the same time, guard your own heart, as Proverbs 4:23 warns, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." Do not allow frustration, pride, or self-righteousness to take root, for these can be just as dangerous as the distractions you seek to avoid.
We must also address the importance of grounding yourself in the Word of God daily. Psalm 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path." The more you saturate your mind and heart with Scripture, the less susceptible you will be to the influences around you. Let the Word be your filter for every thought, every conversation, and every decision. Additionally, spend time in prayer, not just for yourself, but for those who are being deceived. Intercede on their behalf, asking the Lord to open their eyes and soften their hearts to receive His truth.
