I'm being persecuted

I'm being persecuted and I don't know why, Im being made to feel unworthy and unable to pray, as though Im being alienated from jesus and that I would be harmed for my belief in jesus, I'm hoping and praying for the assurance that god loves me enough that I goto heaven and not hell when I die. My self worth is pretty low right now. Any prayer is welcome.

We hear your cry, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we stand with you in this time of trial. Persecution for the sake of righteousness is not only promised in Scripture but is also a sign that you are walking in the light. Jesus Himself said, "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven; for that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you" (Matthew 5:10-12). You are not alone in this struggle, and your suffering is seen by the Lord, who is near to the brokenhearted.

The enemy seeks to isolate you, to make you feel unworthy and cut off from the love of Christ, but we rebuke those lies in the name of Jesus. The truth is that nothing can separate you from the love of God, not persecution, not doubt, not even your own feelings of unworthiness. The apostle Paul wrote, "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39). Your worth is not found in the opinions of others or even in your own self-assessment; it is found in the blood of Jesus, who died for you while you were still a sinner (Romans 5:8). You are deeply loved, and your place in heaven is secure if you have placed your faith in Christ.

We also want to gently address the fear of being harmed for your belief. The world may hate you because it hated Jesus first (John 15:18-19), but He has overcome the world (John 16:33). You are not promised a life free from suffering, but you are promised that Christ will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). If you are facing physical harm, we pray for your protection and ask the Lord to give you wisdom and courage. If the persecution is emotional or spiritual, we pray that God would strengthen your faith and remind you of His presence. You are not abandoned, and you are not forgotten.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is feeling the weight of persecution and the lies of the enemy. Lord, we ask that You would surround them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding. Remind them of Your unshakable love and the truth that they are fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image (Psalm 139:14). We rebuke the spirit of fear and isolation in the name of Jesus and declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Father, strengthen their faith and give them the assurance that their salvation is secure in Christ. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit so that they may stand firm in the face of opposition and know that their reward in heaven is great. We pray for their persecutors, that their hearts would be softened and that they too would come to know the love of Jesus. Lord, lift up our brother/sister’s head and remind them that You are their refuge and strength. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to cling to the promises of God, even when your emotions tell you otherwise. Spend time in His Word, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Surround yourself with fellow believers who can pray with you and remind you of God’s faithfulness. If you are not already part of a local church, we strongly encourage you to seek one out, for the body of Christ is meant to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2).

Remember, the same Jesus who calmed the storm with a word is in your boat. He is not asleep; He is interceding for you at the right hand of the Father (Romans 8:34). You are not unworthy, you are chosen, redeemed, and deeply loved. Hold fast to that truth, and let it be the anchor for your soul.

We hear how heavy this is, the weight of feeling targeted, the voice that says you’re not worthy, that you can’t even pray, that maybe God is pulling away. That voice lies, but we know it still hurts. When you’re in the middle of that kind of mental and spiritual pounding, it’s hard to see anything clearly, especially your own place in God’s heart.

What helps us in times like these is to remember that your salvation was never tied to how worthy you feel. It rests entirely on Jesus, who already secured it. The enemy wants you to stare at your feelings and your failures until you doubt God’s love, but the truth is that nothing can separate you from that love. Not even this. And right now, the fact that you still hope for heaven, that you still want Jesus, is evidence that he hasn’t let you go, even when your emotions tell you otherwise.

A small but concrete step can make a difference: when the accusation hits that you’re alienated or unable to pray, you can choose to say a simple truth out loud, something like, “Jesus, I belong to you. I’m not alone. Your blood covers me.” You don’t have to feel it. You’re just anchoring yourself in what’s real. And if you can, let one safe, believing friend know what you’re walking through. Knowing that someone else is praying with you and for you can feel like a rope pulling you out of the fog.

We’re praying with you now:

Lord Jesus, you see your child right now, battered by accusations and fear. In your powerful name, we silence every voice that says they are unworthy, unloved, or beyond your reach. Wrap them in your peace that doesn’t make sense. Let them know deep down that their eternity is secure in you, not because they feel it, but because you promised it. Give them the strength to speak truth, the courage to ask for prayer, and a fresh sense of your nearness tonight. Amen.

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. The very fact that you cry out, that you feel this alienation as a piercing sorrow, is itself a sign that the life of God is within you. A dead soul does not wrestle for assurance; a soul utterly cast off does not lament its distance from Christ. Your feeling of unworthiness is the truthful verdict of the Law upon the flesh, but the Gospel speaks a better word. Hear this and plant your feet upon it: salvation is not the prize for your worthiness, it is the gift of God’s worthiness in Christ Jesus. When the Word declares, "My eyes have seen Your Salvation," it speaks of a Person, not a feeling. Wherever you see Jesus, there is the whole of God’s salvation, complete and finished. Your assurance does not lie in the fragile vessel of your own prayers or attainments, but in the Rock from which you were hewn. God has thrown His whole Self into this work of saving you; He did not begin it to leave it at the mercy of your emotions or the spite of your persecutors.

The enemy of your soul hisses the old lie that you are too polluted to pray, too worthless to be loved. But the cross of Christ silences that accusation forever. It is the nature of the low, the needy, and the broken in spirit to be the very objects of His salvation. You do not mend yourself to come to the fountain; you come to the fountain to be cleansed. What a grand proof of Divine affection it is that even in this dark hour, the Spirit is working in you a hunger that only Jesus can satisfy. Do not look within for the grounds of your confidence, for within you will only find the old man of sin to distress you. Look out, look up, look alone to Christ. The love of God for His people is not a shallow, divided stream. He loves you as much as if there were not another soul in the universe for Him to love. His love is a deep, immutable, eternal reality, set upon you before the foundation of the world, and that love has not grown cold because you are now in the furnace.

As for the persecution that makes you feel you will be harmed for your faith, remember that your Saviour has redeemed you. You are not your own; you are bought with a price. He who redeemed you will not let the prey be torn from His hand. The hatred of the world is but a shadow, but the love of God in Christ is the substance. When you feel this assault upon your self-worth, let the vengeance of love do its work by casting out every idol that would usurp Jesus’ place. To be brought low in self is often the pathway to being lifted high in Christ. Great peace belongs to those who love His Law, a peace that does not come from the absence of conflict but from the presence of a reconciled God. Go home to your chamber not saying, "I am so persecuted and unworthy," but saying, "I am poor and troubled, yet my eyes have seen Your Salvation." Drink deeply of His love; do not be afraid to be too happy in the Lord or too sure of His salvation. It is a fountain opened for sinners, and for you. The final word is not the roar of the accuser but the settled, joyous certainty that salvation is of the Lord, from first to last.

Your suffering is not a sign that God has abandoned you, but rather a mark of the true warfare. God permitted persecutions to arise immediately so that no one might say the preaching was established by flattery, and that your fervor might be shown. It is not human persuasion but the power of God that persuades the souls of believers to be prepared even for ten thousand deaths. When you are made to feel unworthy and alienated from Jesus, recognize this as the enemy’s attempt to shipwreck your faith. The Lord is faithful, who shall establish you and guard you from the evil one. He does not deceive you nor suffer you utterly to perish.

The thought that you cannot pray is a lie. Prayer is a great weapon, and you need it early and by night, for every day is a fight and a tempest. Do you think Jonah remained silent in the belly of the beast? He was self-possessed and he prayed. The heat did not suffocate him, the creature did not putrefy him, because faith made the incredible credible. If you test your situation by reasonings, it seems hopeless; if you test it by faith, it is exceeding credible. Cry out from the depth, even if your words are few. The Lord makes a short word upon earth, for if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. This short word carries not salvation only but also righteousness.

You fear hell and doubt God’s love, yet you must look not to your own worthiness but to the easiness of faith. Every valley shall be filled, every mountain brought low, the crooked made straight. This means the exaltation of the lowly and the forgiveness of sins affording great facility of salvation. Your low self-worth is the very valley He intends to fill. He did not come to call the self-righteous, but to make the rough ways smooth. All flesh shall see the salvation of God; your weak and fearful flesh is not excluded.

Do not imagine that your Master needs to be persuaded by eloquent prayer to love you. He does not need prayer as though He were powerless; He knows that the Father hears Him always, and His will and the Father’s are one. He assumed the form of prayer for the sake of the weak and grosser sort, to show that He is not an enemy of God but that the work is done according to the Father’s will. Therefore cease thinking you must climb up to heaven to fetch Him down. He is already propitious. Take joyfully even this spoliation of your peace, because already you see Him who is invisible as visible: this is the effect of genuine faith. Fix your meditation on these things at the morning dawn, go forth to your daily business with this security, and you will have no enemy that can truly harm you.

The weight you feel right now is real, but it is not the voice of truth. That sense of being cut off from Jesus, that fear of judgment, is exactly the kind of attack that comes against a heart that truly belongs to Him. The enemy works to make you feel unworthy to pray, as if your failings have built a wall between you and God. But the whole purpose of the law was to show us we could never be righteous on our own, driving us to despair of ourselves so that we would flee to Jesus Christ. He is the end of that striving. You are not justified by the strength of your feelings or the quality of your prayers. You are justified through faith in what He has already done, because He gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from this present evil age.

When you feel alienated, remember that the world hated Him before it ever hated you. The persecution you are experiencing is a sign that you are not of the world, that He has chosen you out of it. Those who trouble you may not know what spirit they are of, but a righteous reckoning belongs to God. Rest in that. Your worth is not found in the shifting opinions of people or in your own ability to hold on. Your worth is found in the price that was paid for you. Jesus was made a curse for us when He hung on that tree, redeeming us so that the blessing of Abraham might come upon us. That is a done work. It does not depend on your perfect performance.

The life He calls you to is not about gritting your teeth and trying harder in your own strength. You cannot produce any lasting fruit apart from simply abiding in Him. The moment you cease from the exhausting labor of trying to save yourself and turn it fully over to Him, that is where the real victory begins. It is no longer you, but Christ living in you. That is the only cure for the wretched man who cries out for deliverance. You can pray right now, not with polished words, but with the plainness that comes from this hope we have. You have been adopted as a son, not on equal footing with the only begotten Son, but brought fully into the family by grace, an heir of God through Christ.

Let this be the turning point where you stop looking at your own grip on God and start trusting His grip on you. The Spirit who resides in you is chipping away the old life, transforming you from glory to glory as you simply behold His face. There is no veil separating you from that mercy now.

May the Spirit who testifies of Jesus remove every blinding lie that says you are unworthy to draw near. May you know, deep in your bones, that you are kept by a perfect salvation, never forsaken even when cast down, always bearing in your body the dying of the Lord so that His life may shine out through your mortal frame. May the name of Jesus be glorified in you, and may you be filled with a peace that rests entirely on His promise, never on your own works of righteousness.
