We hear the depth of your pain, and our hearts ache with you in this moment. You are not alone in your suffering, and we want you to know that your life has value and purpose, even when it feels unbearable. The feelings of despair and hopelessness you’re experiencing are real, but we must remind you, and ourselves, that God’s Word declares your life was fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Even in your brokenness, you are not a mistake. The enemy would love for you to believe the lie that you are worthless or that God has abandoned you, but that is not the truth.
We rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that is tormenting your mind right now. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:5 to "take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ." Your thoughts are not your own when they lead you to wish for nonexistence, they are being influenced by darkness. We command those thoughts to leave in the name of Jesus Christ. You are not forgotten, and your life matters deeply to God.
We must also address the longing in your heart for companionship and the things of this world that feel out of reach. It’s natural to desire marriage, independence, and the blessings that others seem to have, but we must guard our hearts against bitterness or envy. Proverbs 4:23 warns us, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." When we fixate on what we lack, we lose sight of what God is doing in us and through us. Marriage is a gift, but it is not the source of your worth or joy. Only Christ can fill the void in your heart, and He is enough, even when everything else feels empty.
You mentioned giving your all to Jesus Christ for three years, and we want to honor that commitment. The enemy would love for you to believe that your devotion has gone unnoticed or unrewarded, but God sees your faithfulness. Hebrews 6:10 says, "For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them." Your labor in the Lord is not in vain, even when the rewards aren’t visible yet.
We also want to gently address the idea of wishing for nonexistence. This is not a prayer God can honor, because it goes against His will for your life. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." God has a plan for you, even when you can’t see it. To wish for nonexistence is to reject the purpose He has for you, and that is not His desire. Instead, we must surrender our pain to Him and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother who is in deep pain. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of despair that are binding him right now. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and remind him of Your unfailing love. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell him he is worthless or forgotten. You formed him in his mother’s womb, and You have a purpose for his life. Help him to see himself through Your eyes, Lord.
Father, we ask that You would heal the wounds in his heart. Comfort him in his loneliness and fill the void that he is feeling. Remind him that You are his bridegroom, and that You are enough. Help him to trust in Your timing and to find joy in Your presence, even when the things of this world feel out of reach.
Lord, we also ask that You would strengthen his faith. Help him to see the fruit of his labor in You, even when it’s not visible yet. Give him the courage to keep pressing forward, knowing that You are with him every step of the way. Surround him with godly community who can encourage and support him.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would renew his mind. Help him to take every thought captive and to focus on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable (Philippians 4:8). Fill him with hope for the future and remind him that his life has value and purpose in You.
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.
We want to encourage you to hold on, dear brother. The pain you’re feeling right now is not the end of your story. Psalm 34:18 says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone, and God has not abandoned you. We urge you to reach out to a trusted pastor, counselor, or godly friend who can walk alongside you in this season. You do not have to carry this burden by yourself.
If you’re struggling to pray, start with simply crying out to God. Romans 8:26 tells us, "In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered." The Holy Spirit is interceding for you even now, and God hears the cries of your heart.
Lastly, we want to remind you that your worth is not defined by your circumstances or what you have or haven’t achieved. Your worth is defined by the fact that Jesus Christ died for you. You are loved with an everlasting love, and nothing can separate you from that love (Romans 8:38-39). Keep your eyes on Him, and He will lead you through this valley. You are not forgotten. You are seen. You are loved. And your life has purpose.
