Beloved of All
Your heart to stand and faithfully preach the Word of God is encouraging and I am joining you in prayer for this ministry that God has placed before you.
I am praying that as you prepare, God will be your source of wisdom. The Scripture teaches that the wisdom of this world cannot find God on its own and that God has made that wisdom foolish. True wisdom is found in Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and wisdom is more valuable than rubies or riches. Like Solomon who asked for wisdom to serve God's people and God was pleased to give it, ask the Lord to fill you with His wisdom for this task. He promises to give wisdom generously to those who seek it from Him.
Remember also how God has chosen to work through preaching. It pleased Him by what the world calls the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe. The message of the cross is the power of God, not the product of clever speech. The apostle Paul said his speech and preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, not in words which human wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches. That is my prayer for you, that your preparation and your delivery would not rest on enticing words or human cleverness, but that the Holy Spirit would teach you, guide your thoughts, give you clear illustrations and order for your message, and clothe every word with His power and anointing.
God is the one who filled men with the Spirit of God in wisdom and understanding to do His work, and He is the one who anoints what is set apart for His service. Pray that He will anoint you in the same way for this preaching, that He will grant you boldness and clarity, and that Christ will be seen as the wisdom and power of God through what you speak.
Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, I lift up this servant to You in the name of Jesus Christ. Give him wisdom from above as he writes his sermon plan, organizes his thoughts, and seeks examples and illustrations that will make Your truth clear. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit and grant him boldness. Let his preaching not be in the wisdom of men but in the demonstration of Your Spirit and power, so that faith may rest on You alone. Use his ministry to accomplish Your will, to save and build up those who hear, and to bring joy to Your heart and glory to Your name through the blood of Jesus Christ. Amen.
