We have read your request and we carry this heavy burden with you before the Lord in Jesus name. We hear the fear and shame in your words as you face telling your wife how badly the finances have been damaged and as the mortgage and bills press in, and we want you to know that God sees you in this distress and He is not distant from you.
We also want to speak the truth to you in love because we care for your soul and your marriage. Scripture calls us to be faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to us. Luke 16:10 says He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. And Proverbs 13:11 says Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by labor will increase. Proverbs 21:5 says The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty. Day trading, when pursued as a quick and hasty way to gain wealth, often functions like gambling and puts at risk what God intended for the provision and security of your family. We gently rebuke the pattern of risking what was not yours alone to risk, and we also must address that hiding this loss from your wife has been a form of falsehood within the covenant of marriage. God calls husband and wife to be one flesh with no deceit between them. Ephesians 4:25 says Therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another. How much more should truth reign between a husband and wife. The way forward must begin with full honesty, confession to God and to your wife, and a turning away from speculative trading.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to share why that matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved and heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we urge you to place your faith fully in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, and trusting Him not only for financial rescue but for the forgiveness and new life only He can give. 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We encourage you today, without further delay, to sit down with your wife in humility and tell her the whole truth with sorrow and repentance, asking for her forgiveness. Invite a trusted pastor or wise godly counselor into that conversation if you need support. Stop any further trading immediately, bring all accounts and debts into the light, and seek practical help for budgeting and dealing with creditors. God honors diligence and honest labor, and even in this painful season He can teach you to build again little by little through faithful work.
We join together now to pray for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this brother and his wife and their home to You. Lord, we confess before You the poor stewardship and the deceit that has led to this place, and we ask for Your mercy and forgiveness through the blood of Jesus. Grant this husband the courage and humility to speak the full truth to his wife today, and grant his wife grace to hear it with love even in her hurt. We ask You to bring unity and not division into this marriage, and to heal the breach that secrecy has caused. Father, You know the mortgage that is due and the bills that are piling up, and we ask You to provide for their needs according to Your wisdom. Philippians 4:19 says My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. We do not ask for a quick windfall but for Your daily provision, for open doors for honest work, for favor with lenders, and for wisdom to manage what remains. Teach him to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added as You see fit, as Matthew 6:33 promises. Turn his heart away from hasty gain and toward diligent, faithful labor, and restore to him the joy of walking in integrity before You and before his family. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We urge you to stay rooted in prayer and in the Word, to meet with your pastor this week, and to let your wife be your partner in every financial decision from this day forward. God is able to redeem even what feels destroyed when we walk in repentance and truth.
