Beloved of All
The Real Meaning of the Verse
The Context of Corrupt Leaders: In Psalm 82, God is addressing human judges, rulers, and religious leaders who were given authority on earth. God calls them "gods" and "sons of the Most High" because they were supposed to represent His justice and protection to the people.
The Exposure of Hypocrisy: Immediately before this verse, in verse 2, God exposes them, asking: "How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked?" [4] They were failing to protect the poor and the fatherless.
The Ultimate Consequence (Verse 7): Right after the verse you quoted, God delivers the ultimate reality check in verse 7: "But you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler." [6]
How This Defends You Against Their Abuse
Your abusers think their financial status, their Tesla, and their social media popularity make them superior, untouchable, and divine. They act like gods who have the right to tell you that "nobody cares about your opinion."
Psalm 82 is God’s direct answer to that arrogance. He is reminding them that despite their flashy status, their pride, and their wealth, they are completely mortal. They will have to stand before the Creator and account for every cruel word, every act of verbal abuse, and every time they used His name to mock the poor. I hear how incredibly overwhelmed, exhausted, and high your anxiety is right now. Experiencing this constant emotional abuse, isolation, and manipulation from your family and old friends is a living hell, and it makes complete sense that you are feeling completely defeated and filled with hatred toward them

We hear the deep pain and righteous anger in your words as you describe the emotional abuse, manipulation, and arrogance you’ve endured from those who were supposed to care for you. The weight of injustice is heavy, and it’s understandable that you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, and even hatred toward those who have wounded you so deeply. Psalm 82 is indeed a powerful passage that exposes the hypocrisy of corrupt leaders and reminds us that God sees their abuse of power and will hold them accountable. The verse you referenced, where God declares, "I said, ‘You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High.’ Yet you will die like mere mortals; you will fall like every other ruler" (Psalm 82:6-7 WEB), is a sobering reminder that no one, no matter their wealth, status, or influence, escapes God’s judgment.

But let us also gently remind you that while your anger is justified, we must guard our hearts against allowing hatred to take root. The Bible warns us, "Do not let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil" (Ephesians 4:26-27 WEB). Hatred can consume us, turning our pain into bitterness and giving the enemy a foothold in our lives. Instead, we are called to trust God’s justice and release our offenders to Him. Romans 12:19 (WEB) says, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’" This does not mean we ignore injustice, far from it. It means we entrust the outcome to God, who sees all and will judge righteously.

We also want to address the weight of anxiety and isolation you’re carrying. Emotional abuse is a form of suffering that leaves deep scars, and it’s no wonder you feel defeated. But we want you to know that God sees you, hears you, and is near to the brokenhearted. Psalm 34:18 (WEB) says, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone, even if it feels that way. God is your refuge, and He invites you to cast your burdens on Him (1 Peter 5:7 WEB).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our dear brother/sister who is carrying the heavy weight of emotional abuse, betrayal, and injustice. Lord, You see the pain in their heart, the exhaustion in their spirit, and the righteous anger they feel toward those who have wronged them. We ask that You would be their comfort, their strength, and their defender. Remind them that You are a God of justice, and no one escapes Your judgment. Help them to release their hatred and bitterness into Your hands, trusting that You will repay every wrong.

Father, we pray for healing in their heart and mind. Where anxiety has taken hold, replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7 WEB). Where isolation has made them feel alone, remind them that You are with them always (Matthew 28:20 WEB). Surround them with godly community, people who will love, support, and encourage them in truth. Give them the courage to set boundaries with those who continue to wound them and the wisdom to walk in Your ways.

Lord, we also pray for their abusers. We ask that You would break their pride and open their eyes to the harm they’ve caused. Bring conviction to their hearts and lead them to repentance. If it is Your will, restore what has been broken, but if not, give our brother/sister the strength to walk in forgiveness, not for their abusers’ sake, but for their own freedom.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who bore our sorrows and carried our griefs (Isaiah 53:4 WEB). It is only through His name that we have access to You, and it is only by His blood that we are healed. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. Amen.

We encourage you to meditate on Psalm 103, which reminds us of God’s compassion and mercy. Verses 6-10 (WEB) say, "The Lord executes righteous acts and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the children of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness. He will not always accuse; neither will he stay angry forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us for our iniquities." God is not ignoring your pain. He is working, even when you cannot see it.

If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to consider doing so today. The Bible tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16 WEB). Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). If you would like to surrender your life to Christ, simply pray and ask Him to forgive your sins, come into your heart, and be your Lord. He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 WEB).

You are deeply loved, and your story is not over. God is writing a redemption narrative in your life, and we believe He will use even this pain for His glory. Keep pressing into Him, and do not lose heart.

We are so sorry that you are living in this relentless torment. The exhaustion, the anxiety, and the hatred you feel are not signs of a flawed faith, they are the natural, God-given alarm bells of a soul that has been battered and crushed by constant abuse. We hear your pain, and we grieve with you.

Before anything else, we want to make sure you are safe. If you are in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services right now. For free, confidential support and help creating a path forward, you can find a trained advocate in your country through the helpline directory at findahelpline.com. You do not have to navigate this alone.

It is entirely understandable that your feelings have boiled over into hatred. When you are surrounded by people who use their wealth and status like weapons to demean you, it creates a deep, aching wound. The damage from this kind of psychological mistreatment runs deep, often causing confusion, despair, and a crushed spirit. Your reaction is a cry against the profound injustice you have endured, and God’s heart breaks over that injustice right alongside you. He does not dismiss your pain.

Giving yourself physical and emotional distance from these abusers is not only wise, it is a crucial act of stewardship over your own well-being. A concrete next step, when you are ready, would be to explore developing a safety plan with a trained advocate from that helpline. They can help you think through how to protect your peace and limit their access to your heart and mind while you heal from the verbal and emotional attacks. You are worthy of protection and care.

Let us pray for you now.

Jesus, we lift up this precious person to You. You see every insult they have endured, every weight on their shoulders, and the crushing darkness that has settled around them. Please be their very present help and strong refuge. Place Your angels around them and create physical and emotional space between them and those who wish them harm. Give them the clarity to take wise steps toward safety and the courage to believe that their voice and their life matter to You. Breathe life and peace into their exhausted soul, we ask in Your name, amen.

The hatred you describe threatens to consume your soul even as it witnesses against their sin. They are exposed, as you have seen from the Psalm, they shall die like mere mortals, and every cruel word shall be answered for. But your own spirit is now in greater peril than their bodies are, for this hatred is a fire that will not warm you but burn you to ashes. Your eyes are failing from looking upon their evil. Turn now and look where David looked, upon the Word of the living God, and ask, "When will You comfort me?"

There is no other comfort for you beneath the skies like that which the promises of God will furnish. But consider this: the lack of comfort may be owing to some neglected duty. You say you hate them, and indeed they have done wickedly, yet has not the Master commanded you to love your enemies and pray for those who despitefully use you? That command is not a soft sentiment but a sharp sword to sever the cords of bitterness that bind your heart. I am afraid that in this time of trouble, you are increasing it by being unwilling to be comforted. The comfort God gives is not merely outward but an inward quickening of the soul. If His Word in past days has quickened you, then flee to it now. The life of God in the soul is the true comfort in affliction.

Do not forsake the assembling of God's people. You may feel too wounded, too full of hatred and shame to sit among the saints. But it is in ###, where the furnace is heated, that He promises to comfort you. Go to His House, even if you can scarcely lift your eyes. Let the prayers, the hymns, and the breaking of bread be as conduit pipes through which His mercy flows. And hear this: God’s hidden ones are found in many places, and they often suffer in silence. You are not alone in this valley of affliction. But you must pray earnestly over the Word that it may quicken you, or else it will not be a comfort to you.

Their shame is certain. His Word declares it, and He will clothe them with it in His own time. But your first and desperate need is not to see them humbled, that is God’s work, but to have your own soul quickened. A dead heart can feel no comfort, only the cold weight of wrath. Ask the Lord to breathe upon you afresh, to quicken you by His Word, so that the comfort may come. When the life of God stirs within, you will find that the hatred loosens its grip, not because the wrong was small, but because the grace is great. The Lord will perfect that which concerns you, and He will not forsake the work of His own hands, not in your circumstances, and not in your soul.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

I hear your cry, and the weight of your suffering is not hidden from God. The hatred that burns within you is born of grievous wounds, and the arrogance of those who trample the lowly kindles a just anger. The psalmist spoke truly: men who take the seat of justice and use it to oppress, who strut about with the wealth of the wicked and the pride of devils, are indeed mortal. They will die like any ruler, and before the judgment seat of Christ they will give account for every idle word and every act of cruelty. Take comfort in this: God is not mocked, and their flashy prosperity is a fading mist.

Yet, beloved child, I would not have you remain in the fire of hatred. Hatred is a passion, a wound of the soul, a suffering that does more harm to the one who harbors it than to the one it targets. Do you not see what it does to you? It exhausts, it consumes your peace, it steals the very image of God within you. The wicked hate the righteous because their lives rebuke the darkness; this is the mark of those who are not of the world. If they hate you for what is good, remember the Master's words: "If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you." But He did not return hatred for hatred. When He was reviled, He did not revile in return, but continued to reprove with love, even as they plotted His death. That same Christ, who by His patience converted a world, calls you now to a higher battle.

I do not tell you to pretend their evil does not exist, or to embrace it as no evil at all. No, rather I say: reprove them in your heart through prayer, and if the moment is given, with words of gentle truth. The truest friend is not the one who feasts with us while we slide toward the pit, but the one who, at the risk of hatred, extends a hand to pull us back. Yet if they will not hear, if they mock and abuse you further, then shake the dust from your feet and entrust them to the Judgment. Do not let their sin become your sin. Your hatred cannot wound them in their guarded tower of pride, but it will devour your own soul while you lie awake.

The philosophers of old were not ashamed to practice what you cannot even hear named without pain, and their darkness produced only more hatred. But you have come to the light. Let your beauty be the unfading adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. Christ gave you a mouth and a tongue that you might correct your brother, not to curse him. Do not wish for their destruction, but pray for their correction, that even now they might flee from the wrath to come. And if they persist, remember this: the world hates those who belong to Christ; it has always been so. Your suffering is not meaningless. It unites you to His sufferings, and He will not forget your tears. Let go of the deadly burden of hatred, and place both your cause and your torment into those pierced hands that will one day judge all men in righteousness.
