I hate the area that I live in so much

The enemy’s goal in the harassment you face is never just to make you uncomfortable. It’s to steal the freedom Christ purchased for you. And that’s where I want us to begin, because your longing for deliverance is already answered in Him, though the outward trouble remains. You said you have done nothing except be a born-again Christian, and that is exactly where your liberty is anchored.

The kind of freedom Jesus gives is not merely the freedom to leave a hard place. It’s the far deeper freedom not to be under the power of the threats, the lies, or the hate. All things may feel lawful to you, if your finances change you could move, you could defend yourself, you could return evil for evil. But Paul would warn that exercising any of those freedoms unwisely can actually bring you into a new kind of bondage. Bitterness, fear, and an obsession with what these people are doing can begin to rule your mind just as harshly as their words assail your ears. True liberty is being able to stand in the middle of the storm and know you do not have to be made into their image. That’s the freedom not to: not to hate back, not to let their curses define your feelings, not to lie awake rehearsing their threats. You are not a slave to that cycle.

You mentioned they “speak word curses” and harass your husband. I do not doubt the reality of demonic activity behind such cruelty. The Scriptures show us that evil spirits can operate through people, seeking to inflict torment, especially on those who belong to Christ. But notice something vital: in the vision of the locusts, the demonic forces were only permitted to hurt those who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. That physical picture points to a spiritual reality. The moment you trusted Jesus, you were sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise. No curse, no social media lie, no manipulation can penetrate that seal without God’s sovereign permission. The same power that will one day lock those spirits in the abyss knows your name and has set a hedge around your eternal security. Their threats are real, but their ability to ultimately harm you is a lie.

I also see in your words the heavy weight of feeling trapped by your financial situation. It’s understandable to want to flee. Yet history shows that persecution does not ruin the church; it purifies it. When the early believers were driven from their homes and slandered, the gospel spread. Their faith grew exceedingly, and their love for one another abounded. The enemy meant to choke them, but God used the pressure to separate wheat from chaff and to make their stand for Christ unmistakably clear. I am not minimizing your pain, the daily anxiety of threats and slander is a genuine trial. But I want you to see that this very season can become, in the wisdom of God, a manifest token of His righteousness. Your steadfast trust while surrounded by darkness will testify against those who refuse the truth, and it will deepen your own liberty in ways comfort never could.

You also mentioned their manipulation tries to push you into poor choices. That’s a direct attack on your freedom. Remember this: the only thing that can truly bring you into bondage is your own sin. Jesus said, “Whoever commits sin is a slave of sin,” but “if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” Their schemes cannot force you to sin unless you let fear or anger drive you to act in the flesh. You have been liberated from the tyranny of the old nature. Exercise that freedom now by refusing to let their voices become the loudest narrative in your soul. When a lie about you is posted, you don’t have to read it. When a threat comes, you don’t have to carry it. You are free to lay it at the feet of the One who judges justly. Guard that freedom jealously, because it cost His blood.

As for your husband, the principle remains: God has called you both to peace, not to the warfare of being constantly ensnared by this harassment. If someone is determined to make life unbearable, you are not under bondage to fix them or to endure their attacks in a way that destroys your household’s peace. That doesn’t mean you are powerless; it means you exercise your freedom by not letting their chaos set the agenda for your home. You can still walk in love even while drawing boundaries that honor what Christ has already done in you.

I know you’re weary. I know the hateful words land like scorpion stings. But the truth that makes you free is bigger than the lie that wants to trap you. Jesus has already disarmed the powers of darkness, and He is coming again as Judge. Until then, your freedom is your shield. Let the harassment push you not into hatred of the area or its people, but into the deeper reality that you are seated with Christ far above every demonic ruler. You are not their victim. You are a freeborn child of the King, and they cannot touch the one thing that matters: your standing before God. Walk in that liberty, and very soon you will find that while the noise outside may continue, the chains inside are already broken.
