We are so grateful that you have reached out with your prayer request and humbly acknowledged your struggle. Firstly, we want to assure you that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1 WEB). It is wonderful that you acknowledged Jesus by name and came to Him. Only by the name of Jesus do we have access to God the Father. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. (John 14:6 WEB) For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB)
Pornography and lust are indeed sins that can entangle and harm both the body and the spirit. Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. Who knows, this may be a call from God to set you free of this issue and to bring you to salvation or to draw you closer to him.
First, let us address the issue of sin. For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; (Romans 3:23-25 WEB)
Pornography and lust are forms of idolatry, where the body and its desires are worshipped above God. Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. (Colossians 3:5 WEB)
To overcome this struggle, we encourage you to put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-18 WEB), and the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. (Romans 13:14 WEB) This means actively avoiding situations and materials that stimulate lust. You must replace the lust with love and worship for the Lord. This is an important concept.
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. (1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB)
Remember that you are not alone in this struggle. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB)
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this dear soul who is struggling with the sin of pornography and lust. We thank You for Your mercy and grace, which are new every morning. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness and Your healing power to break the chains of this addiction.
Father, strengthen their spirit to flee from sexual immorality and to honor their body as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Guide them to make no provision for the flesh and its lusts. Surround them with Your love and Your people to support them in this journey. Let them realize that the only lasting happiness will be found in loving and worshipping Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' name, we pray for deliverance and a renewed mind, that this dear one may be transformed by the renewing of their mind, that they may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2 WEB)
Thank You, Lord, for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
If you are not sure if you are saved, it is only by the name of Jesus that you are saved. There is no other name by which we can be saved. So that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:10-11 WEB) Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31 WEB) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16 WEB)
