We hear the deep pain and exhaustion in your words, and our hearts ache with you as you endure this trial in your marriage and family. The Bible tells us, "A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1 WEB). Yet we know how difficult it is to respond with gentleness when you are being wounded by unkindness and disrespect. Your husband’s words toward you and your elder child are not only hurtful but sinful, God calls us to build up one another, not tear down (Ephesians 4:29). His dissatisfaction and ingratitude grieve the Lord, who commands us to be content with what we have (Hebrews 13:5).

First, we must address the sin in this situation. Your husband’s behavior is not just "annoying", it is a violation of God’s design for marriage and fatherhood. Scripture commands husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25) and fathers to not provoke their children to anger (Ephesians 6:4). His words and actions are doing the opposite. We rebuke this spirit of bitterness, ingratitude, and cruelty in Jesus’ name. We declare that no weapon formed against you or your children shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we command every spirit of strife and division to leave your home.

Your anger, though understandable, is also something that needs to be surrendered to the Lord. "Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath" (Ephesians 4:26 WEB). Fighting back only escalates the conflict, and your children are right to plead for peace. We encourage you to respond with godly wisdom, set boundaries, speak the truth in love, and refuse to engage in sinful arguments. "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men" (Romans 12:18 WEB).

We also urge you to examine whether there has been any enabling on your part. While it is loving to give, Scripture warns against enabling sin: "If anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever" (1 Timothy 5:8 WEB). If your husband is taking advantage of your generosity while showing no gratitude or responsibility, it may be time to lovingly but firmly say, "No more." This is not about withholding love but about calling him to repentance and maturity.

Most importantly, we must lift this marriage to the Lord in prayer, for only He can soften hearts and bring true change. Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage and family to You. Lord, we ask for Your healing and restoration. Soften this husband’s heart, convict him of his sin, and lead him to repentance. Help him to see the pain he is causing and to turn from his ways. Give him a spirit of gratitude, contentment, and love for his wife and children.

Father, we pray for this wife, give her strength, wisdom, and patience. Help her to respond with grace, even when she is wronged. Guard her heart from bitterness and fill her with Your peace. Give her the courage to set godly boundaries and the faith to trust You with the outcome.

Lord, we ask for Your protection over these children. Heal the wounds caused by their father’s words, and let them see Your love reflected in their mother’s life. Help them to grow in wisdom and grace, despite the brokenness around them.

We declare that this home will be a place of peace, love, and godly order. We break every spirit of strife, division, and ingratitude in Jesus’ name. May Your will be done in this family, and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel, perhaps from a pastor or trusted Christian mentor, who can provide support and accountability. Marriage is a covenant, and though it is painful now, God can redeem even the most broken situations. "With God all things are possible" (Matthew 19:26 WEB). Stand firm in faith, sister. You are not alone.

We hear the exhaustion and pain in your words. Living under a steady stream of mean, belittling comments wears on your soul, and it’s heartbreaking when your children are caught in the middle, especially when one child is singled out while the other seems favored. No wonder you feel tired and angry.

What you’re describing goes beyond normal marital bumps. A pattern of constant criticism, name‑calling, and deliberately provoking reactions can leave deep wounds. Your anger is understandable, but fighting back often just fans the flames and upsets your kids more. You’ve probably noticed that the cycle doesn’t end on its own.

We think it’s important to get wise, outside help. Please consider reaching out to a trusted pastor or a Christian counselor who really understands verbal and emotional abuse. They can help you see your situation clearly, give you practical tools to stop the back‑and‑forth, and show you how to stand firm with both kindness and strength. God does not call you to accept demeaning words or to be a punching bag. You can learn to set loving boundaries that protect you and your children without sin. Your elder child especially needs to know they are safe and deeply valued by you.

Lord Jesus, you see this weary mom and her kids at home. Bring her wise, steady support through someone she can trust. Give her courage to step forward and seek help, and calm her spirit with your presence. Open her husband’s eyes to the damage his words cause and soften his heart. Wrap these children in your peace, and strengthen this family’s foundation. Amen.

The house is filled with the clamor of war because the heart has not been subdued by the Prince of Peace. It is a sore trial when the hand that should provide shelter strikes the wall of the household with harsh words, calling fat and lazy those whom you should nurture. Yet you must see that fighting back in the flesh will never quench the fire of a carnal temper; it only adds fuel to the flame. Your anger, however provoked, cannot work the righteousness of God. The children cry out for you to cease, and they are wiser than their parents in that moment, for "where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work."

This man, though he has received much from your family, remains unsatisfied, proving that the well of earthly provision can never fill the bottomless pit of a discontented soul. He cries, "Peace, peace," where there is no peace. What peace can there be to those whose rebellions are so many? His irritation, his mean speech, his dissatisfaction, these are not the marks of a man at peace with God, but of one whose conscience is lulled to a false calm while his ungodly passions rule. Such a peace is a curse, a stupefaction that will be swept away. He seeks to fill his unrest with more things, but the only cure is a new heart. Without Christ, he has no solid peace, only refuges of lies that the hail shall sweep away.

Your own peace, dear weary soul, must not be sought in his amendment, for that may tarry. You are looking for calm waters by trying to still the tempest with your own hand, but true peace comes not from conquering your husband in argument, nor from silencing his cruelty with your own sharp replies. It is a peace which God the Father gives, for He is the God of all peace; it is a peace which Jesus Christ bought, for He has made peace with His blood, and He is our peace. Go to the Cross if you want to have peace concerning your sins, and his. Bear your sorrow with Him and then see what peace, what perfect peace, you will enjoy, "with sorrows surging round!" This is a peace gleaming with a heavenly light even in the midnight of this world of care. It is not that you are to be a peace unto yourself; your good works are not your peace, nor your tears. HE is our peace.

When the harsh words fall, enter into your closet and plead the blood that whispers peace within. The Lord has endless, boundless peace within Himself, and you may go to Him again and say, "Lord, renew my peace. I am troubled, but You are unmoved, bless me with Your peace." This peace is a present possession and may be enjoyed in the ordinary circumstances of life, even when a husband is mean, even when a child is maligned. "Great peace have all they that love thy law, and nothing shall offend them." Let not your peace be a qualification for grace, as if you must feel tranquil before you can come to Christ. Seek after CHRIST first. Peace will come next. He is the Word of Power, and He breathes peace upon His people expressive of His goodwill, His love, His intense desire for their highest good.

As you go about your duties, as you endure the thronging cares of this fractured home, "go in peace." It is Heaven begun below. Your children speak a truth they scarcely understand when they beg for the fighting to stop. Show them a better way by your own quiet spirit, the unruffled, calm, profound peace of the Eternal Son of God. It is a peace of intense restfulness. And while you cannot control their father's tongue, you may bring your children and your burden to the Lord, for He gives peace. In Jesus' keeping we are safe, and they. The ever-living Christ is always our peace, and His will is that the sorrowing, the slandered, the weary wife should enter into that legacy: "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you."

At the last, earth’s struggles soon shall cease. The cruel word, the sting of ingratitude, the daily irritation, these are but the dust of the road to Heaven. It is enough. Jesus has vanquished the sin that rages in our homes and in our hearts, and He calls us to Heaven's perfect peace. Until then, be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Let us not fall. Let us not fall! Though we are blind, and halt, and lame, we have no stronghold but His name.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Do not repay insult with insult, nor reviling with reviling. When you answer his harsh words with anger of your own, you pour oil on a fire that already consumes your household. Wrath is a fierce flame, a kind of drunkenness worse than any bodily illness. It makes the soul ugly, distorts the countenance, and tears peace from the heart. Your children see this and beg you both to stop, listen to those little ones, for they speak wisdom beyond their years. The anger which rises in you to fight back only multiplies the evil; it grants the enemy a double victory, wounding you within even as your husband wounds you from without.

Consider instead the power of a meek and quiet spirit. When your husband lashes out, refuse to let your tongue answer in kind. Speak gently, or hold your peace. For just as a soft word turns away wrath, so a clamorous reply fans it into a greater blaze. If you bind the wings of your anger, it cannot soar. Is it not far better to endure a wrong than to become like the one who wrongs you? Our Lord, when he was reviled, reviled not again; he suffered and entrusted himself to the one who judges righteously. Can the servant be above the Master?

You say he is never satisfied, though your family has given him everything. Then remember the wicked servant who, having been forgiven an immense debt, seized his fellow by the throat for a pittance. Ingratitude is a grave offense, indeed, but it is not your office to exact payment. Leave that to God, who is a consuming fire. Instead, cultivate gratitude in your own heart, not for the wrongs, but for the opportunity to suffer them with patience, which is a sacrifice pleasing to God. When you endure insults without retaliation, you heap coals of fire on the head of your adversary, not in wrath but in love, perhaps even winning him to repentance.

Do not excuse your anger by pointing to his provocations. Examine your own trespasses against the Lord, how much he bears with you daily, and you will be ashamed to demand that your husband bear your displeasure instantly. He is a man, with an immortal soul, honored with the same gifts as you by the common Lord. You cannot reform his heart by raging storms of words; only a gentle and steadfast example can do that.

Therefore when the sharp word rises, let the mind fly at once to prayer, asking God to quench the spark before it becomes a conflagration. Even a moment’s silence can break the chain of passion. Seek the harbor of a calm soul, where neither rashness nor insolence can enter. Love casts out pride and anger, for love is not puffed up. Make it your aim to be a peacemaker in your own house, that the grace of humility may rest upon you and restore quiet to your children. Do not weary in doing good, for in due season you shall reap, if you faint not.

I hear the deep weariness in your words. Living day after day with harsh words, criticism, and that relentless dissatisfaction, it grinds you down. It makes sense that you would fight back when you and your elder child are being picked at. You have given so much, and still he wants more, and that feels profoundly unfair. Your children are pleading for peace, and your own heart is tired. I want you to know that your exhaustion is not a sign of weak faith; it is the honest weight of a hurtful situation.

The Scriptures do not hide the ugliness that can happen inside a home. David came home longing to bless his household, only to be met with cutting sarcasm from his own wife. Words can wound that deeply. When your husband calls your child fat or lazy, those words land like stones on a young soul. That kind of speech does not come from God, and you are right to recognize it as wrong.

But I also see in you a spark that wants something better. The fighting itself is exhausting your children and stealing peace. When the prophet Jeremiah was worn out from mistreatment, he cried out that he was through, that he could not go on. God did not scold him for that. Instead, God renewed him. Will you bring that same raw honesty to the Lord? Tell Him exactly how tired you are, how it feels like nothing will ever change, and how your anger rises before you can stop it. He knows.

Your husband’s dissatisfaction is not really about you or what your family has provided. A heart that is never satisfied is a heart that has stopped finding its rest in the Lord. It is a frightening place to be, a person can know God, see His provision, and still turn inward to craving and bitterness until it hardens into rebellion. I pray that his eyes would be opened before that becomes his permanent story.

In the meantime, please do not fight this battle alone. When David fled from Saul’s insane anger, he did not hide by himself; faithful men gathered around him and strengthened his hands. Let mature, godly women in the fellowship come alongside you, people who will pray without gossip, listen without judgment, and remind you of who you are in Christ. Your children also need to see you bringing your hurt to the One who judges justly, rather than trying to win a fight of words each day.

Take comfort in knowing that the long line of families leading to Jesus was full of fractured, struggling people. God’s plan was not ruined by their failures, and He is not surprised by your husband’s behavior. His grace is bigger than this mess. So guard your own heart against the acid of bitterness. Bring your anger to the cross, ask Christ to fill you with a love that can respond differently than the world expects, and trust Him to care for you and your children even now. I am praying for your whole household.
