How can I be sure im saved

We hear your anxious heart and we join with you in seeking assurance and peace in Jesus' name, and we thank you for calling on His name for it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and are saved.

We want to gently remind you that assurance of salvation does not come from our feelings, which can rise and fall with anxiety, but from the sure promises of God in His Word. If you have repented of your sins, turned from them, and believed with your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead, confessing Him with your mouth, you are saved. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Ephesians 2:8 reminds us for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. It is not earned by our works or by being good enough, it is a gift received by faith in Christ alone.

God wants you to be sure. 1 John 5:13 says These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God. John 3:16 declares For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. And Jesus Himself gives us security in John 10:28-29 I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of my Father's hand.

If you are wrestling with doubt, we encourage you to look to Christ and His finished work on the cross, not to your own performance. 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When anxiety rises, God invites you to bring it to Him. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. 1 Peter 5:7 also says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask that You quiet their anxious thoughts and let them hear Your voice of assurance through Your Word. Help them to rest not in feelings but in the truth that Jesus died for their sins and rose again, and that whoever believes in Him has eternal life. Forgive their sins, cleanse them, fill them with Your Holy Spirit who testifies that we are Your children, and grant them that peace which surpasses all understanding to guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Strengthen their faith daily as they read Your Word and pray, and help them to walk in obedience and trust. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, our only Savior, amen.

We encourage you to stay in the Word daily, especially in the Gospel of John and in 1 John, to pray honestly to God about your doubts, and to fellowship with other believers who can encourage you. If you have not yet fully surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you today to turn from sin and trust Him completely as Lord and Savior. He is faithful to keep you.

We hear how heavy this feels to carry, wondering about being saved while anxiety is making everything feel uncertain. Thank you for reaching out so honestly in Jesus' name.

Wanting to be sure is something many believers wrestle with, and anxiety can make those questions feel even louder. When our thoughts are racing and our bodies feel tense, it is hard to tell what we truly believe from what fear is saying in the moment. Assurance does not rest on how calm or confident we feel on a given day, but on what Jesus has done and on trusting Him. Feelings will shift, and that does not mean your faith has failed.

It can help to not carry this alone. One steady next step is to share this struggle out loud this week with a pastor or a mature believer you trust, someone who can listen, pray with you personally, and walk with you over time rather than trying to sort it all out by yourself.

If the anxiety feels overwhelming or is making it hard to sleep, work, or get through the day, we also encourage you to reach out to a doctor or counselor alongside prayer, so you have support for both heart and health.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying.

Father, we lift this dear one to You in Jesus' name. You see the anxiety and the sincere desire to belong to You. Bring Your peace that steadies the heart, clear away confusion, and help them to rest in Your grace and to know they are held by You. Give wisdom, comfort, and trusted people to walk beside them in the days ahead. Amen.

Your question is one that many of the Lord's dear people have asked before you, and the very uneasiness you feel is a sign that the Spirit of God is at work in you, for the true child of God if he is in any doubt about his salvation is uneasy till that doubt is gone.

Be assured that salvation is not a puzzle to be solved by looking within yourself, but a Person to be trusted. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. What is believing on Him? It is trusting in Him. It is to leave the whole matter of your present and eternal salvation with Him in unquestioning confidence, to depend upon Him without fear. This is the faith which saves the soul, and it is believing on a Person, not on a feeling, not on your own earnestness, but on Him.

The Lord Himself has made the way very simple and very instantaneous. He says, Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth. A look does not require a moment. You need not climb, nor labor, nor bring a price. You are to look away from your anxiety, away from your heart, away from your doubts, and look unto Christ. There is no other way of salvation for any sinner, for He has concluded all in unbelief that He might have mercy upon all. Look, look, look, this is the simple method of salvation.

And when you so look, God gives what your anxious mind cannot give itself. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee. That perfect peace is not found by trying to see your own salvation, but by standing still and seeing the salvation of God. The very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. But when your mind is stayed on Christ, the blood of Jesus whispers peace within, even with sorrows surging round, even when duties press and fears throng.

Do not measure your salvation by the steadiness of your feelings, for feelings are as changeable as the weather. Measure it by the steadfastness of Christ. He Himself is salvation. See Jesus and you have seen salvation, and the only salvation. If you are trusting Him, though it be with a trembling hand, you are saved, for the promise is not to him who believes perfectly, but to him who believes on Him.

Let us pray for you now.

O Lord our God, look upon this anxious heart that longs to be sure of its interest in Christ. Thou seest the fear and the trembling and the desire to be Thine. Help this soul to look unto Jesus and be saved, to trust not in its own faith but in Thy dear Son. Speak peace through the blood of Jesus, and keep the mind stayed on Thee in perfect peace. Give a simple, childlike confidence that whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed, and let this soul know with divine assurance that Thou hast made peace with God through Christ. Grant full assurance and quietness of heart, that this one may rest in Thy finished work and go on to serve Thee with joy. In Jesus name we ask it, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honesty in asking how you can be sure you are saved is precious to God, and the anxiety you feel does not push Him away. He invites those who labor and are heavy laden to come to Him, not so that He may call you to account, but so that He may take away your sins and give you rest and place you in security.

Assurance does not come from feelings, and it does not come from arguments that try to prove you are good enough. Scripture teaches that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, by faith in what He has done for you. When you trust that He died for your sins and rose again and confess Him as Lord, you are saved by His mercy and His blood, not by your own strength. God showed how much He cares for your salvation by taking the form of a servant and giving His own blood as the price for you. Having paid so great a price, He will not despise you or waste that suffering after you have come to Him. He died and rose again to be Lord of both the living and the dead, so that He might keep and care for you completely.

God also wants you to have full assurance of understanding and full assurance of faith. That means not doubting His promise, but believing it as surely as you believe what you see, and even more surely, because here you trust not your senses but His Spirit and His Word. The Word says that whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, and that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. It also says that these things were written so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Consider how God chose to show this assurance. He had mercy on Paul, who called himself the chief of sinners, a blasphemer and persecutor, so that no one after him would despair. If God pardoned one who was so far off, you can be sure He will not refuse anyone who comes to Christ in faith. When you obtained mercy, there can be no doubt for others. Your salvation rests on His longsuffering and His promise, not on whether anxiety rises or falls on a given day. Anxiety may disfigure and trouble you, but the beauty and security He gives is ever blooming and not destroyed by disease or worry.

So draw near to Him with a true heart in full assurance of faith. Come to Him in prayer honestly, just as you have now. Trust His finished work rather than your feelings. Keep hearing His promises in Scripture, especially the promises of forgiveness and eternal life in Christ. Walk with other believers who can remind you of the truth when anxiety is loud.

I will pray for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ I lift up this dear one to You. Thank You for loving them and for paying for their salvation with the blood of Your Son. Help them to know without doubt that whoever comes to Christ will never be cast out. Quiet their anxiety with Your rest, and fill them with full assurance of faith and understanding. Let them know the mystery of Christ in whom are all treasures of wisdom, and let them rest in Your mercy today. Help them to draw near with a true heart and to trust Your promise that they have eternal life in Jesus. Give them peace, strengthen their faith, and keep them close to You all their days. Amen.

Your honesty about wanting to be sure you are saved is important, and God does not want you to live in constant anxiety about it. He wants you to have the riches of full assurance, a settled confidence in His promise.

That assurance does not rest on your feelings or on your own efforts. Salvation is of the Lord. Jesus became the author of eternal salvation because He was obedient to the Father and went to the cross for you. He is the captain of our salvation who was made perfect through suffering, and He is also the author and the finisher of our faith. What He started, He will complete. Your hope is secure because it rests on His finished work, not on your ability to hold on.

The Bible describes this as a great salvation because it is open to anyone who will come. Whosoever will may come and drink of the water of life freely, and Jesus said that whoever comes to Him He will not cast out. It reaches even the lowest sinner. That is the grace of God that brings salvation, and Scripture says now is the day of salvation. It warns not to neglect so great a salvation, but to receive what God has offered today. If you have come to Him, He has received you.

Many people struggle for years without assurance because they are depending on their own works and trying to make themselves righteous. If you are looking to your performance to prove you are saved, you can never have full assurance. That kind of legal or works based relationship with God will always leave you uncertain. Full assurance comes only as you come by faith, trusting in the grace and mercy of God through Christ and understanding your position in Him. That is why John wrote his letter, so that those who believe in the Son of God may know that they have eternal life.

Scripture makes the way plain. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. To confess Him as Lord now and to submit to Him now is salvation and eternal life. His name itself means the Lord is salvation. He has become your salvation.

God then calls you to show diligence to keep that full assurance of hope to the end. One place says to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. That does not mean to work for your salvation, but to work out what God has already worked in you, living with reverence and dependence on Him while He works in you. There are things that accompany salvation, a changed life that follows genuine faith, and God is persuaded of better things for those who truly belong to Him.

When anxiety rises, remember what Scripture says, the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear. The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid. He promises to hide you and keep you in times of trouble.

I will pray for you. Father, thank You for Your wonderful grace by which we receive the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. I pray for this one who is anxious and wants to be sure. Help them to look away from themselves and their own efforts and to rest fully on Jesus, the author of eternal salvation. Give them today a clear faith in Him as Lord, believing that You raised Him from the dead, and fill them with the full assurance of hope. Quiet their anxious heart with Your peace and let them know they are Yours. In Jesus name, amen.
