hopelessness

Disciple of Prayer
i ask for prayers for my daughter that God give her the strength and courage to seek the help she needs to get through this.

We hear your heart, dear one, and we lift your precious daughter before the throne of grace with deep compassion. Hopelessness is a heavy burden, but we serve a God who is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Your daughter is not alone, even when the night feels darkest, the Lord is working in ways she cannot yet see.

Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who conquered sin and death so that no one need remain in despair. We ask You to break the chains of hopelessness that have wrapped around this dear daughter’s heart. Give her the strength to rise, the courage to seek help, and the faith to believe that You are making a way where there seems to be no way. Remind her that Your Word declares, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5), and that You are her ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

We rebuke the spirit of despair that seeks to steal her joy, kill her hope, and destroy her future. In the name of Jesus, we command it to flee! We pray that she would turn her eyes to You, Lord, for You alone are the lifter of her head (Psalm 3:3). Surround her with godly counsel, wise believers who can speak truth into her life, pray over her, and walk with her through this valley. Lead her to professional help if needed, for You often use the hands and minds of others to bring healing.

If there is unconfessed sin or areas where she has strayed from Your will, we ask that You convict her gently but firmly, drawing her back to repentance and restoration. Your Word says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Let her experience the freedom that comes from surrendering all to You.

We also pray for you, dear parent, that You would grant you peace and wisdom as you support your daughter. It is not easy to watch someone you love struggle, but we know that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28). Strengthen your faith as you intercede for her, and help you to trust in Your perfect timing.

Lord, we declare over this daughter’s life that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that You have plans for her, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give her a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Let her feel Your love in tangible ways, through Your Word, through worship, through the kindness of others, and through the still, small voice that whispers, "You are Mine."

We stand in agreement with you, believing that breakthrough is coming. May she soon testify of Your faithfulness and proclaim, "The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation" (Psalm 118:14). In Jesus’ powerful name we pray, Amen.

We hear the ache in your words, a mother longing for her daughter to find strength and courage. We are praying with you.

It can be so hard to watch someone you love struggle with hopelessness, especially when they seem stuck. You’re doing the right thing by bringing her before God and asking for help yourself. Right now, one of the most loving things you can do is gently encourage her to take a step toward getting support, perhaps seeing a doctor or a Christian counselor. Sometimes that heavy sense of hopelessness is tied to depression, which is a very treatable condition, and God often works through wise professionals to bring healing. Reassure her that reaching out isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s one of the bravest things a person can do.

In your conversations, you might also remind her of the strengths you already see in her, maybe times she has persevered before, her compassion, or her faith. When someone is in that dark place, they often can’t see their own gifts, but a mother’s steady voice can help them remember.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this beloved daughter to You. You see her in the darkness and know the weight she carries. Give her the courage to take even a small step toward help, and lead her to the right people who can walk alongside her. Please give this mother Your peace, wisdom, and patience as she supports her daughter. In Your name, Amen.

There is a fainting of spirit that comes upon the soul when hope seems far away, yet let it be known that human strength, however vigorous, will spend itself in time. The brightest day has its evening, and the stoutest heart may tremble under a load too heavy for it. But here is the glad truth: "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength." Not by their own striving, but by leaning wholly upon the Everlasting Arm. The Lord Himself has declared, "I will strengthen them," and when He infuses power, it is fitly measured for every need. Your daughter's extremity is God's opportunity; when all natural might is gone, then is the season to lay hold upon Divine strength and prove that His grace is sufficient.

Let her be urged to seek the Lord, for "they who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing." What is this seeking? It is not a distant pilgrimage, but a near trusting. She need not say, "How can I come?" for the way is open. To seek Him is to own her powerlessness and to look for strength where it pleads at His feet. "For holiness no strength have I, My strength is at Your feet to lie." When the soul ceases from its own works and casts itself upon the finished work of Christ, the thing is done. Courage will come, and with it the help she needs, for the Lord gives His people the glory of their strength, not in earthly resources nor in the wisdom of men, but in Himself alone. He can make the weakest heart brave, and the most downcast spirit to lift up its head with holy resolve.

Plead this promise for your child, that she may be upheld and guided into those means of help which God shall appoint. Daniel's secret communion with God armed him for open witness, and so it is with every tried soul. Let her not seek in her own strength to break the chains of hopelessness, but rather, with a childlike cry, to fling herself upon the Lord. You who intercede for her, do so in the confidence that your prayer is heard. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." In waiting upon Him, strength shall be renewed; in seeking Him, the needed help shall be found. The dead cannot stir themselves, but Christ died for the ungodly; while she is yet without strength, let her believe this, and the dawn of hope shall break. The Eternal Spirit can work this in her, and soon you shall see her, like one who has been on the mountain with God, coming down with a face alight, for the joy of the Lord is her strength.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
