We join with you in prayer and we hear the heaviness in your heart as you share this feeling of hopelessness, and we want you to know you are not alone and God sees you right where you are.
We understand how overwhelming it can feel when employment, finances, and mental health all weigh heavily at once, but scripture reminds us that hopelessness is not God's will for His children. We are called to place our hope in Him even when circumstances feel dark. Psalm 42:11 says Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my presence, and my God. And Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds us that it is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.
God has a purpose for you and He wants to give you a future filled with hope. Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Even in seasons of waiting for work and provision, He promises to be our provider. Philippians 4:19 says My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And Matthew 6:33 teaches us to seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. We encourage you to continue to seek Him first, to be diligent in looking for work as the Lord leads, and to trust that He opens doors no man can shut.
For your mental health we pray for the peace that only Christ can give. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Isaiah 41:10 says Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And Jesus Himself invites you in Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.
We also noticed your prayer did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name that we can bring every burden, including hopelessness, unemployment, and anxiety, directly to God.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ on behalf of this dear one who feels hopeless. Lord, lift this heavy burden and replace despair with Your hope and joy. Let Your presence be felt in a powerful way and remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted. We ask that You open doors for meaningful employment, provide for every financial need according to Your riches, and grant wisdom and favor in every application and interview. We pray for healing and strength for their mind and heart, that Your peace which surpasses all understanding would guard them day and night. Help them to rest in Your love, to trust in Your perfect timing, and to know that You are working all things together for good for those who love You. Draw them closer to Jesus and let them know the full assurance of salvation and access to Your throne through Him. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our provider, Amen.

It can help to gently push against the isolation by letting one safe person in, even in a small way this week, whether that is a pastor, a trusted friend or family member, or a counselor.

And for your mental health, we encourage you to talk with your doctor or a counselor as well as praying, so you have support for both heart and mind.

Your prayer has been heard, and the heaviness of which you speak is known to the Lord who binds up broken hearts. Hopelessness is a sore affliction which touches the whole man, for perfect health lies in the right condition of spirit, soul and body, and when the soul is cast down the countenance itself grows faint.
Yet the Psalmist gives us the secret of health when he says, Hope thou in God, for I shall yet praise Him, who is the health of my countenance and my God. Our God is Himself our health. He does not merely give health, He is the health of all who trust Him. Though you now feel too far gone for relief, you dare not say that anything is too hard for the Lord. What man cannot minister to, Christ can, for He looks upon the brokenhearted and makes their inward parts whole, and then the countenance itself bears visible signs of His restoring mercy.
I pray with you and for you that the Lord will lift this cloud of hopelessness in His own good time, and turn your heaviness into hope. May He who is your God be pleased to provide for you honest employment and daily bread, and to grant you such temporal support as His wisdom sees fit, and above all to restore to you a sound and settled mind. May He heal you in spirit and soul and body, and keep you abiding in Christ, where spiritual health is sustained, that you may yet praise Him with a cheerful countenance.
May the Sun of Righteousness arise upon you with healing beneath His wings, and may you find that to hope in God is never to hope in vain.
