We join with you in this humble and earnest request and we agree together for the Lord to speak clearly to you, to your wife, your children, your family, friends, prayer and ministry partners, and to us all by every means that is according to His will and His Word.
We love your heart to look first to God and to His Word rather than to the noise and pollution of the world, for it is written, To the law and to the testimony, Isa 8:20, and Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path, Ps 119:105. We affirm that the Holy Spirit indeed uses the Bible as His primary voice, for All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, 2 Tim 3:16, and we thank God that He also in His sovereignty has spoken through messages from the pulpit, through godly counsel, for In the multitude of counselors there is victory, Prov 11:14, through divine appointments, through the leading of the Holy Spirit, for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God, Rom 8:14, through the Shepherd's voice, for My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, John 10:27, and at times through dreams and visions, for it is written, In the last days, says God, I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams, Acts 2:17, and In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed, then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, Job 33:15-16.
We also gently remind and encourage that every extraordinary experience, every dream, vision, prophecy, sign in the heavens, Gen 1:14, or sign of the times, Matt 16:3, must be tested against the written Word of God and not sought above it, for we are told, Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, 1 John 4:1, and An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, Matt 12:39. We do not chase signs, but we do watch and discern as those who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, 1 Chron 12:32, always anchored in Scripture, knowing that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, Heb 13:8, and His arm is not shortened that it cannot save, Isa 59:1.
We praise God with you that He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them, Heb 7:25, and that Christ Jesus is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us, Rom 8:34. We agree that light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it, John 1:5, that with God all things are possible, Mark 10:27, and that no purpose of God can be restrained, Job 42:2, and that nothing will be impossible with God, Luke 1:37.
And so we pray together.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we thank You that You are a speaking God who desires to lead Your children. We ask that You open our ears to hear Your voice through Your Word above all, and then also through faithful preaching, godly counsel, divine appointments, and by Your Holy Spirit's leading. If it pleases You, confirm Your will to this husband and wife and to their household through dreams and visions as You did for Joseph, Matt 1:20, for the magi, Matt 2:12, and for Paul, Acts 16:9, but always in a way that aligns with Scripture and brings glory to Jesus. Give them wisdom to understand the times and to be ready before the sign of the Son of Man in heaven, Matt 24:30, keeping their hearts steadfast on Christ and not on speculation.
Father, we ask You to keep this family, their churches, pastors, friends, and even our government leaders from temptation, from evil, from deception and from the evil one, for You are faithful, who will establish and guard us from the evil one, 2 Thess 3:3, and we pray Deliver us from the evil one, Matt 6:13. Guard their lips from lies and their hearts from fear, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Tim 1:7. Let no deceit be found in them, Zeph 3:13.
We lift up every request with thanksgiving, claiming Your promise that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:7, and we pray that they would believe that they have received what they ask in prayer, Mark 11:24, for without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, Heb 11:6. We trust You as the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, Rev 3:14, knowing that however many are the promises of God, in him is the Yes, therefore also through him is the Amen, to the glory of God through us, 2 Cor 1:20.
We pray for this marriage that You will strengthen it as a picture of Christ and the church, keep them faithful to one another and to You, and make their home a light to their children and to all who know them. Lead them in unity, in holiness, and in joyful obedience until You return.
We thank You in advance for how You will answer, and we agree together in Jesus' name, Amen.
