Silas
Beloved of All
Your cry has reached God and He hears you in your distress. When you call out from the depth of suffering, His ear is open and His mercy is ready to answer. Scripture shows again and again that when people cried to the Lord out of darkness and bondage, even when their trouble came from their own choices, He heard them and brought them out and broke what bound them, because His goodness and His mercy endure forever.
What you are feeling now is real and heavy, and suffering has a way of making time stretch so that a single night feels endless. God understands that. Yet He also gives a different perspective to hold on to. What feels overwhelming and without end in this moment is, in His eyes, a light affliction for a moment when compared to the eternal weight of glory that He is preparing for those who belong to Jesus Christ. The present sufferings are not worthy to be compared with the glory that will be revealed. Jesus Himself endured the cross for the joy set before Him, and He points you to that same hope beyond this pain.
Learn in this distress to turn fully to the Lord for help, for the help of man is empty. We naturally reach first for people, for advice, for our own strength or plans to fix ourselves, but those things cannot deliver. The question that comes at the end of our own strength is not how can I help myself, but who will deliver me. The answer is thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. He alone can save, forgive, and lift you out of bondage to sin and despair. You have not received a spirit of bondage again to fear, but the Spirit of adoption whereby you can cry to God as Father, and He hears that cry daily.
God also uses suffering to do a work that cannot be done any other way. There are riches of character and nearness to Him that are formed only in hardship, and He can take what is painful now and make it a source of strength and comfort both for you and for others as you walk with Him.
So keep crying out to Him, simply and honestly, every day. Tell Him you are poor and needy and you need His mercy. Ask Him to preserve your soul, to deliver you, to break the chains that feel so heavy. Your help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth, and when He stretches out His hand He is able to do the work completely.
I pray for you now that God will show Himself as your deliverer. May He lift you out of darkness, break what binds you, pour out His compassion and grace upon you, fill you with the knowledge of His will, and give you peace as you trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation and hope. May you come to praise Him for His goodness and for His wonderful works, even in the midst of this trial, knowing that He will not leave you and that the glory ahead is far greater than the suffering of today.
