Thank you for sharing what is on your heart. The Lord hears these kinds of simple and honest prayers, and He cares both about your daughter and about you.
I join you in praying that your daughter will enjoy her gymnastics. May the Lord give her joy in using the strength and ability He has given her, keep her safe, and let her time there be encouraging and full of gladness. It is a good thing to bring even these everyday matters to Him.
I also hear how heavy the hair loss has been for you this past year, and how it affects how you feel when you go out and how you see yourself. Scripture speaks of long hair as a glory given to a woman for a covering, so it is understandable that losing it would make you feel less comfortable and less like yourself. The Lord understands that feeling. He created you, He values you, and His love for you is not measured by appearance. You are special in His sight because you are His creation and His child through Jesus Christ, and He has a purpose for your life that remains firm even when outward things change.
At the same time the Bible teaches us to rejoice in Christ and to have no confidence in our flesh. That does not mean these concerns do not matter, but it means our deepest confidence and worth are not built on outward things. The apostle Paul had every reason to trust in outward standing, yet he counted all of that as loss compared to knowing Jesus Christ as Lord. The path of following Jesus is a path of bringing our self focused concerns to the cross and finding our life and victory in Him. When we come to the end of ourselves and look to Him for help, He is the one who delivers and sustains us.
There is hope in how God restores. Scripture tells of those who broke their consecration and lost what was a sign of it, yet even there it says the hair began to grow again. That is a picture of the gospel, that God is able to restore after failure and loss. And there are those who were stripped down to almost nothing, even health and comfort, and learned in that bare place that God Himself remains. Prayer often begins with our petitions, and as we keep looking to Him it moves to confidence and then to praise, even before we see the answer. God is our helper and the one who upholds our soul. Evening and morning we can cry aloud and trust that He hears our voice.
So let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this daughter to You and ask that You would give her joy in her gymnastics, protect her, and help her to use her gifts with thankfulness. We bring this dear one who is troubled by hair loss to You. You see the loss and the discomfort it brings. We ask for Your healing and restoration according to Your will, and even more for Your peace to guard her heart. Help her to know her beauty and worth in You, to rejoice in Christ, and to have confidence not in outward appearance but in Your unfailing love. Uphold her, give her comfort in going out, and turn this prayer into confidence and praise as she trusts You to care for her. Amen.
