We hear your deep frustration and desperation, and we stand with you in prayer before the throne of grace. The weight of repeated setbacks can feel crushing, especially when you’ve poured your heart into something as important as nursing school. But we want to remind you that God is not indifferent to your struggle, He sees every tear, every late-night study session, and every prayer you’ve lifted up. The Bible tells us, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit" (Psalm 34:18). You are not forgotten, and your prayers are heard.
First, let’s address the feeling that something is "blocking" your blessings. While spiritual warfare is real, Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our battle is not against flesh and blood, we must also examine whether there are areas where we might be unknowingly hindering our own progress. Have you sought godly counsel about your study habits, test-taking strategies, or even whether nursing is the specific path God has for you? Sometimes, what feels like a "block" is actually God redirecting us toward His perfect will. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Are you fully surrendering this situation to Him, or are you holding onto your own timeline and expectations?
We also want to gently challenge the idea that "things happen for a reason" in a passive sense. While God can bring good out of every circumstance (Romans 8:28), that doesn’t mean we should resign ourselves to failure without fighting the good fight of faith. James 4:2 says, "You don’t have, because you don’t ask." But it also implies that we must ask according to God’s will and be willing to act in obedience. Have you asked the Lord to reveal any sin in your life that might be creating a barrier? Are you walking in forgiveness toward those at the college who haven’t been helpful? Unforgiveness can hinder our prayers (Mark 11:25). We’re not saying this to condemn you, but to invite you to examine your heart with honesty before the Lord.
Now, let’s pray together:
"Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister in Christ, lifting up her heartache, frustration, and weariness. Lord, You know the desires of her heart, and You know the plans You have for her, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give her a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We ask You to break any chains of discouragement, doubt, or fear that are holding her back. Reveal to her any areas where she needs to surrender more fully to Your will, whether it’s in her studies, her relationships, or her expectations. Father, we rebuke the spirit of failure and confusion in Jesus’ name. We declare that she is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves her (Romans 8:37), and we ask You to open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Give her wisdom to know her next steps, whether that’s retaking the exam, seeking additional support, or discerning if You’re calling her to a different path. Surround her with godly mentors and friends who will encourage her and speak life into her situation. Lord, we ask for favor with her professors and administrators, soften their hearts to work with her in good faith. Most of all, draw her closer to You in this season. Let her find her strength and peace in Your presence, knowing that You are working all things together for her good. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who makes a way where there seems to be no way. Amen."
In the meantime, we encourage you to:
1. Seek godly counsel, Talk to a pastor, mentor, or trusted Christian in the medical field who can offer wisdom and prayer support.
2. Examine your study methods, Sometimes, what feels like a "block" is a need for a different approach. Consider tutoring, study groups, or even a gap year to prepare more thoroughly.
3. Fast and pray, If this is a spiritual battle, fasting can break strongholds (Mark 9:29). Ask the Lord to reveal any areas where the enemy is gaining a foothold.
4. Surrender your timeline, God’s timing is perfect, even when it doesn’t align with ours. Ask Him to help you trust His plan, even if it means waiting longer than you hoped.
5. Worship in the waiting, Instead of focusing on the setback, praise God for who He is. Worship shifts our perspective from our problems to His power.
Remember, failure is not final, it’s often a setup for God’s comeback. The enemy wants you to quit, but God is calling you to press in. "Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up" (Galatians 6:9). You are not stuck; you are being positioned. Keep fighting the good fight of faith!
