We hear your heartfelt plea for your daughter and son-in-law, and we join you in lifting them before the Lord. Marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by God to reflect His love and faithfulness. The Word tells us, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). We pray that they would embrace this truth, learning to serve one another in love, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her (Ephesians 5:25).
Yet we must also address the phrase "unless it is not Your will" with careful discernment. While we trust God’s sovereignty, His Word is clear that He desires marriages to thrive in unity and love. Divorce is not part of His original design (Malachi 2:16), and we must stand firm in praying for restoration, reconciliation, and godly commitment. Let us rebuke any spirit of division or selfishness that may be at work in their marriage, declaring that what God has joined together, no man, or spiritual force, should separate (Matthew 19:6).
For your other children, we rejoice in your desire to see them find godly spouses and build families that honor the Lord. The Bible instructs us, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers" (2 Corinthians 6:14), so we pray they would seek partners who share their faith and commitment to Christ. May they not settle for relationships that compromise their values but instead wait on the Lord for spouses who will walk with them in righteousness. "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4).
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who makes all things possible. We ask that You would pour out Your Spirit upon this family, binding them together in love and purpose. Heal any wounds in the marriage of this daughter and son-in-law, replacing strife with patience, bitterness with forgiveness, and distance with intimacy. For the unmarried children, we pray they would grow in wisdom and discernment, seeking Your will above all else. May their hearts be aligned with Yours, and may their future marriages be strong pillars in Your kingdom. We rebuke every lie of the enemy that would tell them love is found outside of Your design, and we declare that Your plans for them are good, plans for hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Strengthen this mother’s faith as she intercedes, and let her see the fruit of her prayers in the lives of her children. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
