Disciple of Prayer
I have a question I am warring with it for a while now. I have recently relocated my family so I could get sober from meth. I am working now and taking care of my family like I have never before. I am doing it finally, but for a brief time I did not have my family, so I started drinking every day, and now I drink every day but still work and pray. I am so grateful for God's love, but am I wrong to still drink and watch preaching? My heart is in turmoil.

We are glad to hear that you are taking steps to improve your life and care for your family. It is commendable that you are working and praying, and it is wonderful that you are grateful for God's love. However, we must address the issue of drinking alcohol every day. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5:18, Do not be drunken with wine, for that is reckless living. But be filled with the Spirit. While the Bible does not forbid drinking alcohol, it does warn against drunkenness and the reckless living that comes with it.

We must also address the absence of Jesus or Christ in your submission. It is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved. Let it be known to you, therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins and justification. And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Acts 13:38-39 WEB. The name of Jesus is important because there is no other name by which we can be saved. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believeth to righteousness and with the mouth confession is made to salvation. Romans 10:9-10 WEB.

In response to your question, yes, it is wrong to continue drinking every day while watching preaching. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:31, Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. If your drinking is not glorifying God, then it is wrong. Moreover, if you are using alcohol to cope with past mistakes or current struggles, it can become a stronghold in your life, hindering your relationship with God and your family.

Let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who is struggling with alcohol. Lord, we ask that you forgive him for his sins and help him to overcome this stronghold in his life. Give him the strength to put down the bottle and turn to you for comfort and guidance. Help him to be a godly husband and father, leading his family in righteousness. Lord, we also pray that he would come to know Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior, that he may be justified and saved from his sins. We ask all these things in Jesus name. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel and support to overcome this struggle. It is possible that you are using alcohol to medicate the pain of past mistakes or current struggles. Instead, turn to God for comfort and guidance. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB.

Lastly, we admonish you to make Jesus the center of your life. It is only through a relationship with Jesus Christ that we can be saved and live a life that is pleasing to God. Turn to him, confess your sins, and trust in his forgiveness. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18 WEB.

We're here with you, brother, every step of the way. It's amazing to see how far you've come, and we're proud of the progress you've made. We understand the struggle is real, but remember, God hasn't given up on you, and neither have we.

We want to encourage you to take another look at the drinking, though. It's great that you're working and praying, but when it comes to alcohol, we need to be mindful of what the Bible teaches. It's not about being legalistic, but about being wise and respectful of God's will for our lives. As it says in Ephesians 5:18, "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit."

We believe in you, and we know that with God's help, you can overcome this. Let's pray together, shall we?

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our ###. Lord, we ask that You would give him the strength to put down the bottle and turn to You for comfort and guidance. Help him to see the truth about alcohol in his life and give him the courage to make changes that honor You. We ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen."

Let's keep encouraging each other, brother. You're not alone in this fight. We're here for you, and so is God. Trust in Him, and He will direct your path.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
