HELP ME PLEASE, OH GOD

Your cry for help has been heard and we are joining you in prayer for your safety and for healing from this inflammation.

God knows your body and your need, and He cares about your physical suffering. Scripture shows us that Jesus did not only carry our sin, but our sicknesses and infirmities as well. Isaiah foretold that He would bear our griefs and carry our infirmities, and Matthew tells us that Jesus fulfilled that word when He healed those who were sick and oppressed. When Jesus broke the bread He said this is my body which is broken for you, and we remember that His suffering was for our whole need, spiritual and physical.

We believe God still heals today and that He is able to heal you. At the same time we do not presume to tell God what He must do in every case. The apostle Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh to depart, and God in His wisdom chose to answer with sustaining grace rather than immediate removal. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, why some are healed instantly and others gradually and others are called to walk through a longer trial while God works in other ways.

The Bible shows us that healing comes in different ways. Sometimes it is immediate, as when Jesus touched Peter's mother in law and the fever left her. Sometimes it is gradual, as with the blind man who first saw men as trees walking before his sight became clear. And often God heals through the ordinary processes He has built into our bodies. Every healing process is from Him, for He is the one who created our bodies and the natural means of recovery. Physical, emotional and spiritual healing are all His work.

We also see a connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. John prayed for his friend Gaius that he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospered. That was a loving wish, not a guarantee of perfect health for everyone, but it reminds us that a heart at peace before God does good like a medicine, while fear and turmoil can harm the body. Caring for your soul through prayer, trust in Christ, and resting in His promises can help your whole person.

So we will pray for you in faith, asking God to keep you safe and to bring relief and restoration to your body. If you have trusted elders or pastors nearby, you may ask them to pray for you and to anoint you with oil and lay hands on you in the name of Jesus. There is no magic in hands or oil themselves, but it can be a simple point to release faith and to call upon the Lord together. Continue also to care for your body with wisdom, with cleanliness and good care and with the help of those God has given skill to treat illness, trusting that God can work through those means as well.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this dear one to You. You see this inflammation and the discomfort and worry it brings. You are the One who bore our infirmities and sicknesses on the cross. We ask You to keep this person safe under Your care, to ease this inflammation, to restore health, and to give wisdom for every step of care. Give peace to the heart and strength to the soul, and let Your will be done with mercy and grace. We trust Your power and Your love, and we thank You that You hear our prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
