We rejoice with you and give all the glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for the great improvement He has already worked in your life, for it is God who is at work in you both to will and to work for His good pleasure, Philippians 2:13. We have heard your crying and your prayers and we join with you now, asking for lasting and true deliverance and complete freedom for the glory of God.
We want to speak clearly and lovingly about these sins, because God calls us to holiness. Pornography, masturbation, flirting with the opposite sex outside of godly courtship that seeks marriage, and all sexual sin are not small things in the eyes of God. Jesus said that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart, Matthew 5:28. We are commanded to flee sexual immorality, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body, 1 Corinthians 6:18. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own, for you were bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Flirting and entertaining lustful thoughts and images defiles the heart and does not honor the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman as God designed it, and it keeps the mind in bondage.
Yet we also praise God that you have confessed and turned toward Him, for if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, Romans 8:1, and we know that God delights to show mercy to a broken and contrite heart. He can create in you a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within you, Psalm 51:10.
We encourage you to continue to pursue purity with all diligence and to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever. This means making a decisive break and fleeing from youthful lusts and pursuing righteousness, faith, love, and peace, 2 Timothy 2:22. We encourage you to cut off every source and access to pornography, to guard your eyes and your heart, to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5, and to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2. Walk by the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh, Galatians 5:16. Fill your mind daily with what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely and of good report, Philippians 4:8, by reading and memorizing the Word, for how can a young man keep his way pure, by living according to your word, Psalm 119:9, and your word have we hidden in our heart that we might not sin against you, Psalm 119:11. Seek fellowship and accountability with mature believing men who will walk with you, confess to one another and pray for one another, and submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you, James 4:7.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we thank You for the work You have already begun in our brother. We thank You that You have heard his prayers and his tears and have brought great improvement. We ask now for lasting and true deliverance. Lord, show him mercy, speak to him clearly, give him understanding and wisdom from above. Renew his mind completely, wash him with Your Word, and make him very wise to discern and to hate every form of evil and to cling to what is good. Help him to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from his life and from his heart. Give him strength to flee every temptation, to turn his eyes away from worthless things, and to keep his body in sanctification and honor. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he walks in purity and in the fear of God. Guard his heart, establish his steps, and let these sins be forever far from him. Let his life bring glory to You alone. We ask that You complete the good work You have begun and present him blameless and holy before You. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
