I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...

We rejoice with you and give all the glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for the great improvement He has already worked in your life, and we join you in crying out for lasting and true deliverance for the glory of God. We have heard your heart and your tears, and we know that God hears them as well. He is merciful and faithful to complete the work He has begun in you.

The struggle you describe with pornography, masturbation, flirting and other sexual sins is a serious battle, and we must speak plainly that these are sins that grieve God and defile the heart and body. Sexual immorality in any form outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication, and Jesus taught that even lust in the heart is adultery, as it is written in Matthew 5:28. We are called to flee sexual immorality, for every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body, 1 Corinthians 6:18. Flirting that stirs lust, pornography that feeds it, and masturbation that acts upon it all open the door to bondage and must be cut off decisively. We encourage you to make no provision for the flesh, to remove every source and access, to guard your eyes and your heart, for as it is written, Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life, Proverbs 4:23, and to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5.

Yet we also share your hope, for God promises renewal and deliverance. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me, Psalm 51:10. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. God has not left you without a way of escape, for it is written, No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, 1 Corinthians 10:13. Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good report, think about these things, Philippians 4:8.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace with our brother who is hungering for purity and holiness. We thank You for the victory You have already given and for the work of Your Holy Spirit that has brought great improvement. We ask that You help him and guide him to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from his life and heart. Grant him godly wisdom and understanding, renew his mind completely, and make him very wise to discern and flee every temptation. Show him Your mercy, speak to his heart, and grant him full deliverance. Strengthen him to resist the devil so that he will flee, James 4:7, fill him with Your Spirit, and lead him in paths of righteousness for Your name's sake. Keep him far from sexual sin and draw him close to You, that his life may continually bring glory to You. Help him to walk in purity as he waits for or honors marriage as You designed it, a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and to find his satisfaction in You alone. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue in fervent prayer and in the Word daily, to fast as the Lord leads, to seek accountable fellowship with mature believers who will walk with you honestly, and to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. God delights to give wisdom to those who ask, and He will not withhold deliverance from the one who seeks Him with a broken and contrite heart. Continue to cry out, continue to trust, and He will establish you in lasting purity.

Wanting these struggles to be far from your heart and mind for good is a good and honest desire, and the tears and prayers you describe matter to God. Lasting change is often less like a single moment and more like a daily walk of surrender, where we learn to notice early triggers and turn quickly to Christ and to safe people before temptation grows stronger.

One step that has helped many believers walking this same road is not walking alone. Would you consider inviting one mature, same-sex believer you trust, perhaps a pastor or mentor, into regular honest check-ins about your thought life, media use and relationships. That kind of steady accountability, along with clearing away whatever still gives easy access to temptation, can make the daily choices more supported and less isolating.

Father, we thank You for the work You have already begun in our brother's life. We ask for Your mercy, for a renewed mind, and for daily strength and wisdom to walk in purity for Your glory. We join you in giving all glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for the mercy He has already shown you, and for the great improvement wrought in you by His grace. To hear that what once held you fast is now losing its power is cause for deep gratitude, for deliverance from sin is solely by the power of God. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy, and He must have all the praise.

You have cried and prayed much, and the Lord hears such cries. He is the God who finds a ransom for those going down to the pit, and who says, I have found a ransom, so that deliverance is certain and already accomplished by His Son. As you have tasted His delivering hand, take comfort that the same hand which began the good work can make it lasting and true. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, for as we are justified through Jesus Christ, we must also expect to receive sanctification from a heavenly source alone.

Yet we must remember what Scripture teaches, that lust when it has conceived brings forth sin, and sin when it is finished brings forth death. Any sin, whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death. Purity is not optional, for without holiness no man shall see the Lord. The believer becomes possessed of a higher nature, born in him by regeneration, so that he becomes a partaker of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. This is your calling now, to walk in that new nature, to flee all that defiles, whether pornography, solitary impurity, flirting or any sexual sin outside the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, where alone such intimacy belongs.

We pray with you and for you in the name of Jesus Christ, that God will show you mercy, speak to you, and give you understanding and full deliverance. We ask that He will work in you, renew your mind, and make you very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from you and your heart kept pure before Him. May He teach you to look to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things, as a living Friend and Saviour, and to turn from every occasion and appearance of evil. May He keep you by His grace, establish you in the Word, in prayer, and in watchfulness, and fill your heart with love for Christ so that lesser loves lose their hold.

And after this affliction and this deliverance, may your conduct be that of the psalmist who said, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. If we had no troubles we would have less to declare, but you who have known both the chastening and the deliverance have much to tell of His free grace. Go on to declare what He has done, and give no atom of the honor to yourself, but ascribe all to Him who brought you forth, and who can also enrich you with silver and gold of holiness and peace.

Rest your soul upon Christ alone for salvation, for there is no other name by which we are saved, and trust Him alone to keep you. He who has delivered will yet deliver, and He is able to keep you from falling.

Your honest cry and your thankfulness have been heard, and we join you in giving all glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for the improvement He has already worked in you. It is God who hears those who pray and weep with a sincere heart, and it is God who cleanses and makes new. As Scripture shows, those who once lived in sexual sin did not enter the kingdom as they were, but having believed and been purified and converted, they entered in. That is the mercy we see in Christ, that He does not leave us in our uncleanness but washes us and calls us to purity.

We will pray for you as you have asked, that God will grant you lasting and true deliverance and keep these sins far from you. We pray that He will renew your mind and make you wise in His Word, that He will speak to you and give you understanding, and that He will strengthen you to do whatever is needed to put these things away forever from your life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Deliverance is not only forgiveness, though that is precious, but also learning to live in a new way, despising what once mastered you and finding greater joy in holiness.

For that lasting change, consider how virtue is learned step by step, as a child learns letters. First one line, then another, until the whole is written on the soul. So continue to practice purity and self control in small and steady ways. Flee from pornography and from whatever feeds lust, guard your eyes and your thoughts, put away filthy talk and joking that leads toward lust, and fill your mind with Scripture. Make yourself an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. Seek temperance and a humble heart, for God rests upon the meek and those who tremble at His word, while pride and indulgence open the door to the enemy. Do not trust in your own strength, but stay close to Christ through prayer, through the reading of His Word, through fasting when you are able, and through honest fellowship with faithful believers who can help you stay accountable.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we thank You for the work You have already done in this soul and for the desire for greater holiness that You have placed there. In the Name of Jesus Christ Your Son, who alone is our salvation, have mercy and grant complete deliverance. Renew the mind, grant wisdom to discern temptation and to turn from it, and create a pure heart that loves what You love. Teach what steps to take and give courage to take them, whether it is cutting off access, seeking counsel, or walking in new habits of prayer and purity. Keep this one from returning to what defiles, and make his life a pattern of good works and continence for Your glory. We ask that You would speak clearly through Your Word and give understanding and peace. Amen.

Continue to cry out to Him, for He is faithful. He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it as you walk with Him day by day.
