I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...

We rejoice with you and give all glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for the great improvement He has already worked in your life, and we thank Him that He has heard your prayers and your tears. The Lord is near to those who call on Him with a broken and contrite heart, and we praise Him that you have turned to Him for mercy and deliverance.

We want to speak clearly and lovingly about these sins, because God calls us to holiness for His glory. Pornography, masturbation, flirting outside of godly courtship, and all sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman is sexual immorality before God. Jesus said that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart in Matthew 5:28, and we are commanded to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. We are also taught in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 that this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor. These desires do not come from God but from the flesh, for each man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed in James 1:14, and we must take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ in 2 Corinthians 10:5.

We encourage you to continue to walk in the victory Christ has begun, knowing that lasting and true freedom comes only through abiding in Him and renewing your mind. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind in Romans 12:2, so that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God. This renewal comes as we fill our minds with what is true and pure and as we walk by the Spirit so we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh in Galatians 5:16. Flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace in 2 Timothy 2:22. That means making no provision for the flesh, guarding your eyes and your heart, removing access to pornography completely, avoiding flirtatious conversations and situations that stir lust, seeking accountability with mature believing men, and pursuing courtship only with the goal of marriage to a Christian believer if God wills marriage for you. Set your mind on whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is pure in Philippians 4:8, and hide the Word in your heart that you might not sin against Him in Psalm 119:11. If you fall, confess quickly, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9, but do not use grace as a license to sin. God is faithful and with the temptation will also make the way of escape in 1 Corinthians 10:13, and when you submit to God and resist the devil he will flee from you in James 4:7.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for Your mercy and for the improvement You have already granted to our brother. We give You all the glory for every step of deliverance. Lord, we ask that You complete the good work You have begun and remove these sins forever from his life and heart. Create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him in Psalm 51:10. Renew his mind, make him very wise, and teach him to discern and to hate what is evil and to cling to what is good. Pour out Your Spirit upon him so he may walk in purity and self control, and show him mercy, speak to him, give him understanding and full deliverance. Help him to do whatever it takes to forsake these sins, to cut off every source of temptation, to flee from every appearance of evil, and to live in holiness for Your glory. Guard his eyes, guard his heart, guard his thoughts, and lead him in paths of righteousness. Fill the place where lust once dwelled with love for You, love for Your Word, and love for holiness. Grant him strength in temptation, joy in obedience, and peace that comes from a clear conscience before You. We ask that You guide him daily, make him steadfast and immovable, and keep these sins forever far from him, that his life may be a testimony to Your power to save and to sanctify. We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to invite one trusted, same-sex mature believer, a pastor or counselor, to walk with you regularly. Someone you can be fully honest with about temptations, triggers, and victories, who will pray with you and help you keep clear boundaries with what you watch, where you go online, and how you relate to others. A small Christian support group can offer that same kind of consistent, grace-filled honesty.

Father, we thank You for the work You have already done in our brother's life and for his hunger to be pure before You. Give him mercy, wisdom and strength for each day, renew his mind, and surround him with trustworthy help so he does not walk alone. Keep drawing him close to Jesus and lead him in Your way. We give thanks with you to the Lord Jesus Christ for the great improvement He has already wrought, and we join you in giving Him all the glory for it. To see lust losing its power and purity gaining ground is the work of His grace alone, and we rejoice that you can testify that He has begun a good work in you.

We have heard your crying and your many prayers, and we want you to know that the Lord hears the cry of those who seek deliverance from sin. He does not shut His ear to the broken heart that longs to be made clean. As you have confessed, any sin that we cling to and love, when lust has conceived, brings forth sin and sin when it is finished brings forth death. Therefore your longing to have these sins removed forever from your life and heart is a right and holy desire, for without holiness no man shall see the Lord. Charity and purity are the two great garments of Christianity, and purity must not be neglected, for we are called to be partakers of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Know this, that deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He alone can bring you forth effectually, as He brought Israel forth when the lamb was slain. He has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom, for His own Son has borne the penalty of our iniquities. When God Himself proclaims, I have found a ransom, then deliverance is certain, for it is already accomplished at the cross. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, to our heavenly Father altogether and alone.

So we pray for you now in the Name of Jesus Christ, that God will show you mercy and speak to you and give you understanding. We pray that He will renew your mind and make you very wise, that you may discern and forsake every snare, and that these sins will be put far from you and kept far from you by His keeping power. We pray that He will guide you to do whatever it takes to walk in purity, to flee every occasion of temptation, to keep your body and spirit chaste as belonging to Him, for sex and all its expression belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and outside of it is to be fled from. We pray that He will lift you into familiarity with Himself, that looking to Christ your familiar Friend and living Lord for all things, you may overcome evil and be kept by goodness itself.

We will continue to pray that the Lord will make this deliverance lasting and true, not of your own strength, but of His free grace, so that you shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. May He enrich you with silver and gold of spiritual blessing as He brings you forth, and may your life henceforth be a song of deliverance to the praise of Him who alone saves.
