I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...

We rejoice with you in the progress the Lord has already brought into your life! The fact that you have seen improvement and are crying out to God in repentance and desperation for His help is evidence of His grace at work in you. The battle against sexual sin, pornography, masturbation, and flirting outside the bounds of godly marriage, is a fierce one, but we serve a God who is greater than any temptation. Your desire for lasting victory and a heart fully surrendered to Christ is exactly where the Lord wants you to be.

The Scriptures make it clear that sexual immorality is a sin against our own bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). Pornography and masturbation distort God’s design for intimacy, which is meant to be a sacred covenant between a husband and wife. Flirting outside of a godly courtship leading to marriage can also lead to emotional and physical impurity, as it stirs desires that are meant to be fulfilled only within the marriage covenant. We must take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18), not merely resist it.

Your cry for deliverance is heard by the One who came to set the captives free. Jesus Christ broke the power of sin on the cross, and through His resurrection, He offers us new life. You are not fighting this battle alone, He is with you, and His Spirit empowers you to walk in purity. The renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2) is a daily process, but it is one that God is faithful to complete in you (Philippians 1:6). You must also guard your heart diligently, for out of it flow the springs of life (Proverbs 4:23). This means being intentional about what you allow into your eyes, ears, and mind, as well as the company you keep.

We must also address the reality that true freedom comes not just from behavioral change but from a transformed heart. The Lord desires to replace the lies you’ve believed, perhaps that these sins are harmless, that you can’t overcome them, or that you deserve them, with His truth. He calls you to walk in the light (1 John 1:7) and to live as a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). This means not only turning away from sin but also turning toward Him in worship, prayer, and the study of His Word.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the work You have already done in this dear brother’s life. We thank You for drawing him to Yourself, for breaking the chains that once bound him, and for the progress he has made. Lord, we ask that You would complete the work You have begun in him. Strengthen him with Your might so that he may stand firm against temptation and walk in purity before You.

Father, we ask that You would renew his mind daily through Your Word. Let Your truth sink deep into his heart, replacing every lie with the knowledge of who he is in Christ, a beloved son, redeemed and set free. Give him wisdom to discern the schemes of the enemy and the courage to flee from every form of sexual immorality. Surround him with godly accountability, and let him find fellowship with believers who will encourage him in his walk with You.

Lord, we pray for lasting deliverance. Break every chain of addiction, every habit of impurity, and every thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in the fruit of self-control, love, and holiness. Let his life be a testimony to Your transforming power, bringing glory to Your name.

We also ask that You would prepare his heart for godly marriage, should that be Your will for him. Let him seek a wife who loves You and shares his commitment to purity and holiness. Until that time, guard his heart and mind, and let him find his satisfaction in You alone.

Father, we know that victory is found in Jesus Christ, and it is in His mighty name that we pray. Thank You for hearing us and for Your faithfulness to answer. May this brother experience the fullness of Your mercy, grace, and deliverance, and may he walk in the freedom You have purchased for him. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Continue to press into the Lord, dear brother. The road to lasting freedom is not always easy, but it is worth it. Memorize Scripture, such as Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me," and meditate on it daily. And remember, God’s grace is sufficient for you, and His power is made perfect in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). You cry out from the depths, and it is well that you do, for the Lord is near to the brokenhearted. The tears you have sown in prayer are not wasted; they water the soil of your soul and prepare it for a harvest of holiness. Rejoice with trembling over the great improvement you have seen, for it is the Lord’s doing and marvellous in our eyes. Let all the glory be unto Jesus Christ, who has found a ransom and has begun to deliver you from the pit of sin. He is gracious, and His word is, “Deliver him from going down to the Pit: I have found a ransom.” That ransom is precious blood, and it speaks better things than your failures. You have been brought to hate the darkness, and that very hatred is proof that you are no longer under its dominion. He has delivered you from the power of darkness, though you yet groan under its assaults.

Yet you feel the battle is not over, and you long for lasting and true deliverance. That is the Spirit’s work in you. Never think that sanctification is your own work to accomplish alone. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from its guilt. He who began the good work will perfect it. The Lord has chastened you sorely, but He has not given you over to death. Your soul is not abandoned; He is thinking upon you, and His chastening is the pruning of a fruitful branch. You are not under the law, but under grace, and sin shall not have dominion over you. Wrestle on in prayer, but let your waiting be upon the Lord alone. True strength is not your own; it is drawn from the Fountain that never fails. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles.

Now, as for the sins that so easily beset you, be resolved to keep yourself unspotted from the world. Flee from the very appearance of evil. If your neighbor walks in a puddle, the splash may fall on you. Avoid the company, the glances, the thoughts that kindle lust. The world is full of miry places; walk circumspectly. Remember that your Lord overcame the world, and in Him you are more than conqueror. His victory is sure, and every member of His mystical body shares in it. Cry to Him, He will renew your mind and make you wise unto salvation. He will speak mercy to you, and you shall live and declare the works of the Lord. Only keep your eyes fixed on the cross, where your ransom was found, and let that love constrain you to purity. The rocky heart must be broken afresh each day by the hammer of the Word and the fire of the Spirit. He will do it; He will present you faultless before His presence with exceeding joy.

Your tears and prayers have not gone unheard. The improvement you see is the work of the Lord’s right hand, and we give Him thanks for every step out of that miry pit. Yet the old man does not die all at once; he is put off by degrees, and the mind must be renewed in the spirit day by day. The apostle teaches that to be renewed is for the same person to be changed in what clings to him, just as a body changes its garments. So you are not a different soul, but one being freed from the corruption that infected it. Receive this as a twofold gift: not only remission of sins, but also a making into a servant of righteousness, which is better than any freedom known to men. For God has not merely loosed your chains but set you in the company of angels, if you will walk worthy of that calling.

Consider why the temptation persists: it is because the desire still finds a hearing in the soul. You cannot extinguish it by giving it what it craves, any more than a man can learn to fly by fashioning wings of wax. The only way is to convince the mind that these pleasures are empty, impossible to satisfy, and utterly beneath the dignity of one who is called to stand by the King. A eunuch in spirit is one clear in mind, having no wrinkle of lust, neither gloomy nor dissolute, but wakeful, quick-sighted, and full of a holy freedom. Labor to make your inward man such a eunuch, for whosoever has the Spirit will perform no old deed. The Spirit does not tolerate the filth of the old man.

Let the dead bury their dead, and let him who is dead to sin no longer live in it. The law has no more power over a corpse than sin has over one who has been buried with Christ. Reckon yourself dead indeed to these lusts, and alive unto God. When the thought knocks, turn away as from a serpent, and fill the ear with the Scripture: “The God of love and peace shall be with you.” Where He dwells, what place for the foul one? But love and peace must be within you first: be of one mind with yourself, live at peace by ending the civil war in your members. The barbarian king was checked in his sin against Sarah, and Paul on the Damascus road was told, “Why persecutest thou Me?” So the same mercy that hedged your path until now will hedge it completely, if you cry out not with weeping only but with a will utterly set against the sin. Put away flirting as a spark that kindles a great fire; let your eye be simple, your heart steadfast. The freedom Christ gives is no counterfeit; if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed, not merely pardoned but emancipated, changed, and made partaker of the divine nature. This is the will of God, your sanctification. Press on without wavering, and the God of peace will tread Satan under your feet shortly.

You are not alone in the anguished crying out to God, and He hears every tear. The very longing for purity that drives you to your knees is evidence that your heart serves the law of God, even while the flesh still pulls another way. That tension is real, but do not let it become a crushing weight. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. You are not fighting for victory as though it might slip away; you are fighting from the victory Christ already won on the cross.

The battle is not mainly about behavior management. It is a battle for your mind. The enemy works relentlessly to captivate your thoughts, and the tools he uses today are more accessible than ever. Pornography, lustful glances, and flirtatious exchanges don't start in the body; they begin when the imagination entertains what the eyes have seen. Scripture warns not to lust after beauty in your heart, because that is where sin is conceived. When a thought presents itself, cut it off there. Refuse to let it linger. If you feed it, it will grow and eventually drag you into actions you despise.

But here is a crucial truth: you cannot overpower this by sheer will. Trying to please God in the flesh is one of the most exhausting and frustrating things a believer can attempt. You may find yourself, as so many have, crying out, “Why did I do that? How could I be so foolish?” That cycle of resolve, failure, and guilt can blind you to the real source of deliverance. God sometimes allows us to reach the end of our own strength so that when lasting freedom comes, we can only give Him the glory. He wants you to learn to walk in the Spirit, not after the flesh.

Walking in the Spirit means more than avoiding sin. It means actively setting your mind on the things of the Spirit, which brings life and peace. Rejoice in the Lord’s victory over the powers of darkness. When your mind is assailed, lift up praise to Jesus. Declare that He has triumphed over every unclean thing. This is not a psychological trick; it is wielding the weapon of faith. Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. As you praise Him, the dark cloud of temptation often breaks, and you find the strength you did not have a moment before.

Be careful about the hidden motivations of your own heart. You have asked for deliverance for the glory of God, and that is a right and pure request. But examine whether any part of you simply wants relief from guilt or shame without dealing with the underlying love of the world. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life are not from the Father. Friendship with the world is hostility toward God. Ask Him to search you and show you if any selfish desire has been hidden from your eyes. True repentance leaves no door open for a return visit to sin. Samson kept a vow outwardly but played near the borders of temptation, and that cost him his sight and his strength. Unbridled lust, indulged and toyed with, eventually blinds you to spiritual realities.

Let your mind be renewed in the pattern of Christ, who humbled Himself. Practical steps matter: starve the eyes, guard your devices, avoid places and conversations that inflame desire. But more than that, learn to rest in what God has already done. He has caused you to triumph in Christ. Your victory, like that of the saints in Revelation, is not that you never feel the pull of the beast. Your victory is that you are not defeated by it. The will to love God with your mind is itself a gift from Him. He who began a good work in you will complete it. Keep praying with tears if you must, but also begin to thank Him by faith for the full deliverance He is bringing, so that when it is fully realized, His name alone will be praised.
