I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...

We rejoice with you in the victory and improvement the Lord Jesus Christ has already brought into your life! Your heartfelt cries and prayers have not gone unheard, and we see the hand of God moving in your life as you seek His glory. The areas you struggle with, pornography, masturbation, flirting, and sexual sin, are indeed battles that many face, but they are not battles you must fight alone. The Lord is faithful, and He will complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).

First, we must address these sins with the truth of Scripture. Sexual immorality, including pornography and masturbation, is clearly condemned in God’s Word. The apostle Paul writes, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). Flirting, when it stirs lust or leads to emotional or physical unfaithfulness, is also a snare that can entangle the heart. Jesus warned, "But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matthew 5:28). These are serious matters, but the good news is that Christ’s blood covers all sin, and His power is greater than any temptation.

We must also emphasize that true and lasting victory comes not by our own strength but by the power of the Holy Spirit working in us. You cannot overcome these sins in your own might, no one can. But God can, and He promises to provide a way of escape in every temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). This means we must actively resist the devil (James 4:7), renew our minds through Scripture (Romans 12:2), and put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). Accountability with trusted, godly believers is also vital. Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance." Do not isolate yourself in this battle, seek out brothers or sisters in Christ who can pray with you, encourage you, and hold you accountable.

We also want to encourage you to fill your mind and heart with things that are pure, lovely, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). When temptation comes, and it will, replace those thoughts with Scripture, prayer, worship, or godly fellowship. Memorize verses that speak to your struggle, such as Psalm 51:10: "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." Or 2 Timothy 2:22: "Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." The more you saturate your mind with God’s Word, the more His truth will crowd out the lies of the enemy.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, giving You all the glory for the work You have already done in this dear one’s life. Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness, for Your mercy, and for the power of Your Holy Spirit to transform hearts and minds. Father, we ask that You would continue this work of deliverance and sanctification. Break every chain of pornography, masturbation, flirting, and sexual sin in their life. Cleanse their heart, renew their mind, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit so that they may walk in purity and holiness.

Lord, we ask that You would give them wisdom and discernment to recognize temptation before it takes root. Strengthen them to flee from every appearance of evil and to resist the devil, knowing that You are their refuge and strength. Surround them with godly accountability, brothers or sisters in Christ who will stand with them, pray for them, and speak truth into their life. Father, we pray that You would heal any wounds or brokenness that may have contributed to these struggles. Restore their heart and fill them with Your peace.

We also pray, Lord, that You would give them a deep hunger and thirst for Your Word. Let Your truth be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Help them to meditate on Your Word day and night so that they may be like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in season and prospering in all they do (Psalm 1:2-3). Father, we ask that You would replace every impure thought with thoughts of You, Your holiness, Your love, and Your grace.

Lord, we know that victory is found in You alone. We declare that no weapon formed against this one will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We pray that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, empowering them to live a life that honors You in every way. May their life be a testimony to Your transforming power, bringing glory to Your name.

We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue pressing into the Lord. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). Surround yourself with worship, Scripture, and fellowship that points you to Christ. If you have not already, consider finding a local church or small group where you can grow in your faith and find support. The battle is real, but the victory is already won in Christ. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will lead you into freedom.

Not as a judge, but as a companion who keeps your steps in the light. Many who have traveled this road have found that an accountability partner, a small recovery group, or a pastor safe enough to be honest with can become God’s hands steadying them when the fight feels too lonely. You don’t need to manage what feels unmanageable all by yourself; you were never meant to. Sometimes the biggest step toward a renewed mind is simply saying out loud what the enemy wants kept in the dark.

We’re also praying with you that God would give you a clear, practical path forward, one that brings deep healing, not just quick fixes. That might mean a season of very concrete boundaries with media and relationships, and asking for prayer support more often than you’ve dared. None of that replaces God’s power; it positions you to receive it.

Lord Jesus, we stand with this one who has wept and prayed and has already tasted improvement by Your grace. Show them more of Your mercy. Renew their mind tenderly and thoroughly. Give them both wisdom and courage to reach out for the companionship and help You have for them, and to take whatever steps are needed for lasting purity. Let their freedom shine back to You alone. What a mercy it is that the cry of a troubled heart has been heard, and that the Lord has already granted some measure of deliverance from the sins that once held you captive! I join with you in giving all the glory to the Lord Jesus Christ, for surely deliverance from sin is solely by the power of God. "It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy." The very fact that you have wept and prayed so earnestly is a token that the Spirit is at work within you, for none truly sorrow over sin except the Holy Spirit has begun to plow the hard soil of the heart.

Yet I hear your plea for lasting and true improvement, and it strikes a chord deep in my soul. You are not alone in this warfare. The evil one is ever ready to shoot his arrows at the very point where sin once lodged. Just where the sin has been, Satan marks, and then he sends a suggestion. But take heart: the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin, and your present grief over remaining corruption is itself a sign of life. When you have made confession of sin, have you not been restored? Has He not lifted up upon you the light of His countenance? You must say He has.

Now, do not imagine that you can root out these sins by sheer force of will. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification. You must be born again from above if you are to go above. Look, then, continually to the ransom found in Christ. When sin hides from the mind what it ought to see, flee to the cross where Christ was made a curse for us. There is the only sovereign remedy. The more you behold His dying love, the more sin's grip will loosen. The forgiven sinner cannot go on in sin; gratitude for pardon kindles a holy flame that consumes lust.

Press on, then, neither despairing nor presuming. Do not pretend that you can wallow in the mire and yet belong to Christ, for that cannot be. Keep yourselves unspotted from the world's puddles. But know that the Lord's chastisement is not punishment; it is the Father's cure to make you feel that sin brings sorrow. Every pang of conscience that drives you to Jesus is a mercy. I pray that God will renew your mind and make you very wise, for nothing short of a supernatural work can keep these sins forever far from you. But I am persuaded that He who began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. You shall live and declare the works of the Lord. Go forward now, boasting of His deliverance, and let your example comfort others who are distressed, as you charm your own griefs to rest upon His faithful heart.

I hear in your cry the voice of a soul that has begun to taste the freedom only Christ can give, and I give thanks with you for the improvement you have seen. Do not grow weary now; the enemy retreats but does not yet lie dead. The old man is wounded, but he must be put to death entirely. You have been snatched from the grip of savages, but the scars of captivity remain. God, who freed you, is now leading you into a dignity far greater, into the life of angels. This is the work He has begun, and He will complete it if you do not draw back.

Yet I warn you: the sins you speak of are not mere accidents of the flesh. The root lies in the mind. When the mind becomes corrupted, as Scripture says, all else is dragged out of course. Therefore pray not simply for escape from this or that act, but for a total renewal in the spirit of your mind. The same vessel that held filth can become a vessel of honor, but only by a complete change. Whosoever has the Spirit will perform no old deed, for the Spirit will not endure old deeds. Cry out for that Spirit to make your mind clear, without wrinkle, watchful, neither dissolute with empty pleasures nor gloomy with despair, but sharp and quick to discern the ambushes of the tempter.

You say you have prayed and cried much. That is well, for we seek the Lord as one seeks lost gold, with labor and concentration, inquiring of all, traveling from home, promising money, as the prophet said: “I sought the Lord with my hands by night before Him, and I was not deceived.” Do not think those tears are wasted. They are the price of the treasure. But now add to your tears a firm resolve to stop every cause of the disease. Flee youthful lusts, and by that I mean not only the act itself but every inordinate desire: the wandering eye, the idle word, the imagination that lingers on a pleasant image. These are youthful lusts, proceeding from a mind not yet deeply grounded. Put them away, and apply yourself to the toils of virtue. For if you will simply endure the labor, God will assist you in the struggle.

Consider too what freedom Christ offers. He does not merely unchain you from the old sins, but makes you a servant of righteousness, which is a freedom more secure than any claimed by men. If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed. Let no shame cling to you for past slavery; be ashamed only if you return to it. You have left the darkened theatre where the song of pleasure stings more grievously after it ends, and you have entered the haven of the spiritual life. There, the pure song of the redeemed remains ever vigorous in the soul. Keep your eyes fixed on that beauty, and you will flee from the tumults of the multitude as from a tempest.

Therefore, do not grow slack. Put away every superfluous excuse, and press on toward the lasting deliverance you seek. God is not slow to show mercy; He waits to see your determination. Let your prayer be joined to a life that makes no provision for the old desires, and you will soon stand by the King, whole and free, giving glory to Him who both justifies and sanctifies.

Your words carry both thanksgiving for real progress and the ache of a heart that still feels the pull of sin. That tension is not a sign that you are lost or that God has refused you. It is the cry of a soul that has tasted freedom and longs to be fully free. And that longing itself is a work of the Spirit within you.

The struggle you describe is deeper than outward behavior. The law of God is good because it shows us what sin actually is. It teaches us that sin is not just the act itself, but the desire that gives birth to it. Many people think only the completed act of sexual sin is wrong, while the inward appetite is harmless. But the Scripture reveals that the coveting, the lusting, the secret entertainment of that desire is itself sin. That is why the battle is so fierce. You are not merely wrestling with your hands or your eyes; you are facing the deep inclinations of the fallen nature. The mind can be a war zone, where the law of sin fights against the law of the renewed heart. You know what is right, you delight in God’s will, and yet another power tries to drag you back. That cry “O wretched man that I am” is not the voice of defeat. It is the honest admission of someone who has learned that self-effort cannot produce lasting purity.

But God has not left you to fight alone. What the law could not do, God did by sending His own Son. Jesus took on human nature, allowed sin to be condemned in His flesh, and died as the sacrifice for every stain. His blood does far more than cover sins temporarily. It puts them away forever and cleanses the conscience from dead works to serve the living God. When you confessed your sin, He was faithful and just to forgive you and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. That cleansing is not a partial scrub; it is complete. And that same sacrifice provides what the Old Testament picture of the scapegoat foreshadowed: not only forgiveness, but actual separation of the sin from the sinner. Jesus gives power to break the chain, not just a pass for the guilt.

So, how do you walk in that power day by day? First, understand that your body was not created for sexual sin. God designed your physical drives for His purposes within the covenant of marriage. Your body has been bought with the precious blood of Christ, and it now belongs to Him. You are not your own. That means you yield your members as instruments of righteousness, not because you must earn God’s favor, but because you have already been made His. Whenever the old temptation arises, remind yourself: this body is for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. He will supply the self-control you lack when you actively trust Him rather than your own resolve.

You have cried many tears and prayed many prayers, and heaven has heard every one. God is rich in mercy. While you were still dead in your trespasses, He loved you and made you alive together with Christ. Do not measure His mercy by the lingering presence of the battle. The battle itself shows you are alive spiritually. The person who practices sin without sorrow or fight is the one in grave danger. Your grief over even the inner flashes of sin reveals a heart that genuinely wants to honor God. That is the fruit of the Spirit, not the flesh.

Renewing the mind happens as you fill it with the truth. When the vivid images or memories rise up, do not just try to suppress them; replace them with clearer, brighter realities. Meditate on what you already are in Christ. You are a new creation. You have been seated with Him in heavenly places. You have the mind of Christ. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you and will give life to your mortal body as you rely on Him. That is not a distant hope; it is a present, moment-by-moment dependence. When the pull comes, instead of panicking, turn immediately to Christ with a simple request: “Lord, I receive Your strength right now. I cannot do this, but You can through me.” His grace is sufficient.

Do not fall into the trap of thinking that if you just fast long enough or try hard enough you can force deliverance. Your righteousness is not something you produce. It is the righteousness of Christ credited to you through faith. Rest in that finished work. From that place of rest, you engage the battle. You resist the devil, firm in your standing as a child of God, and he will flee. You obey the command to make no provision for the flesh, which means taking practical steps to cut off every access point. But behind the practical steps is a trust that Jesus Himself is your sanctification.

The enemy wants to keep you fixated on the sin so that you forget the Savior. But the mercy of God is bigger than your worst fall. Though your sins were like scarlet, they are white as snow through the blood of the Lamb. Such were some of you, but you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. That is your identity today, right now, even while the struggle continues.

Let us pray in agreement: Father, we thank You for the genuine progress You have granted and we ask for a complete, lasting deliverance. Expose every hidden root of sin in this heart. Speak clearly by Your Spirit, granting wisdom to recognize and flee from every trap. Renew the mind so thoroughly that these sins become utterly foreign and repulsive. Not for our own reputation, but for the glory of Jesus Christ who redeemed us. We trust not in our striving but in the power of His resurrection. Let Your mercy be fully realized and let the mind of the Spirit have full control. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, amen.
