We rejoice with you in the progress youāve already made by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ! The fact that youāve turned to Him in prayer and tears shows a heart that truly desires transformation, and that is something to celebrate. The battle against sexual sin, pornography, masturbation, and flirting outside the bounds of godly marriage, is not an easy one, but it is a battle worth fighting. The Scriptures remind us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). You are not alone in this struggle, and God has already provided the way out, we must walk in it.
First, we must address the root of these sins. Sexual immorality, including pornography and masturbation, is not merely a physical act but a heart issue. Jesus warned, "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies" (Matthew 15:19). These sins defile the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20) and grieve the heart of God. Flirting outside the context of godly courtship with the intention of marriage can also lead to emotional and spiritual unfaithfulness, which the Bible warns against: "But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart" (Matthew 5:28). We must guard our hearts and minds diligently, for "above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" (Proverbs 4:23).
We also want to encourage you to take radical steps to remove these temptations from your life. Jesus said, "If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna" (Matthew 5:29). This is not a call to physical self-harm but a call to drastic action, removing anything that leads you into sin. This may mean installing accountability software, cutting off access to certain websites or social media, or even seeking godly counsel from a pastor or mature believer. Flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18), and do not give the enemy a foothold.
We must also address the importance of renewing your mind. The apostle Paul writes, "Donāt be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:2). Fill your mind with Scripture, worship, and godly fellowship. Memorize verses that speak to your struggle, such as "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word" (Psalm 119:9). The more you saturate your mind with Godās truth, the less room there will be for the lies of the enemy.
Let us also pray for godly relationships in your life. If you are not yet married, seek a spouse who shares your faith and commitment to purity. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and it is worth waiting for a godly partner who will honor God with you. "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). If you are already married, pray for your marriage to be a reflection of Christās love for the Church, and flee from any temptation that would defile it.
Now, let us come before the throne of grace together in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, giving You all the glory for the work You have already done in this beloved brotherās life. Lord, we thank You for Your mercy and grace that have brought him this far, and we ask that You would complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6). Father, we confess that sexual sin is a grievous offense against You, and we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Wash him thoroughly from his iniquity and cleanse him from his sin (Psalm 51:2). Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him (Psalm 51:10).
Lord, we ask that You would break every chain of addiction and temptation in his life. Deliver him from the snares of the enemy and set him free by the power of Your Holy Spirit. "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed" (Luke 4:18). We declare that he is no longer a slave to sin but a child of God, called to live in freedom (Romans 6:6).
Father, renew his mind and transform him by the power of Your Word. Let Your truth be a lamp to his feet and a light to his path (Psalm 119:105). Surround him with godly accountability and fellowship, and give him the strength to flee from every temptation. "Watch and pray, that you donāt enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak" (Matthew 26:41). Lord, we ask that You would fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in purity and holiness all the days of his life.
If it is Your will, Lord, we pray for a godly spouse for him, a woman who loves You and shares his commitment to purity. Prepare both of their hearts for the sacred covenant of marriage, and let their union bring glory to Your name. "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the Lord" (Proverbs 18:22).
We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the victory we have in Christ Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that he will walk in the freedom You have purchased for him on the cross. Strengthen him, Lord, and let him run this race with endurance, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Brother, we want to encourage you to press on. The road to freedom is not always easy, but it is worth it. "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we donāt give up" (Galatians 6:9). Keep seeking the Lord with all your heart, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). You are not defined by your past sins but by the righteousness of Christ. Walk in that truth, and do not grow weary. The Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).
