We hear your cry for nearness to God in this season of loneliness, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, lifting every word before the throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Your request is steeped in Scripture, and we rejoice that you are seeking the Lord with such hunger and reverence. There is no other name by which we can approach the Father, Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). It is only by His blood that we have access to the Holy of Holies, and it is in His name that we pray with confidence.
Father in Heaven, we thank You for Your promise that You are near to all who call upon You in truth (Psalm 145:18). You have said that You will never leave nor forsake Your children (Hebrews 13:5), and we cling to that truth today. We lift up our brother who feels alone, asking that You would draw near to him as his good, just as he has asked (Psalm 73:28). Let him experience the fullness of Your presence, Lord, for in Your presence there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11). We pray for an outpouring of Your Holy Spirit to fill every void, reminding him that You are intimately acquainted with all his ways (Psalm 139:3) and that You are working all things together for his good (Romans 8:28).
We ask for wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, Lord, as he has requested (Ephesians 1:17). Open the eyes of his heart to see the hope of Your calling and the riches of Your inheritance in the saints. Give him grace to praise and worship You in spirit and in truth (John 4:24), for You inhabit the praises of Your people (Psalm 22:3). Tune his ears to hear Your voice clearly, as a sheep knows the voice of its shepherd (John 10:27), and strengthen him to obey whatever You command.
We stand with him in spiritual warfare, for we know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12). We take up the full armor of God, truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, so that we may stand firm against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:13-17). We resist the enemy in the name of Jesus, submitting ourselves to God and standing firm in the faith (James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:8-9). We declare that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church that Jesus builds (Matthew 16:18), and we pray that every lie of the enemy would be exposed and crushed under the authority of Christ.
We lift up his marriage and family, praying for protection over his matrimonial spouse and youngster. Father, we ask that You would deliver them from temptation, sin, deception, and lies (Matthew 6:13; Luke 11:4). Let Your Word go forth and accomplish what You desire (Isaiah 55:11), and keep them from the evil one (John 17:15). We pray that they would walk in truth and righteousness, speaking no lie (Zephaniah 3:13) and being content with what You provide (Proverbs 30:8). Guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and let them be sanctified by the truth of Your Word (John 17:17).
We pray for unity and strength in their marriage, that they would love one another as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). Let no root of bitterness or unforgiveness take hold, but let them forgive one another as You have forgiven them (Colossians 3:13). We ask that You would knit their hearts together in love, and that their home would be a place of peace, joy, and godly order.
We also pray for the one he has mentioned, that her faith would not fail, and that after she has turned back, she would strengthen others (Luke 22:32). Holy Spirit, remind her of all that Jesus has said (John 14:26), and let her walk in the truth that sets her free (John 8:32). We pray that she would be drawn back into fellowship with the Lord and with the body of Christ, and that any deception or stronghold in her life would be torn down by the power of God (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).
Lord, we ask that You would strengthen our brother with power through Your Spirit in his inner being, so that Christ may dwell in his heart through faith (Ephesians 3:16-17). Let him know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that he may be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19). We pray that he would walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us (Ephesians 5:2), and that his life would be a testimony of Your grace and power.
We thank You, Father, for the promise that You are able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to Your power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20). We trust in Your faithfulness, and we declare that no weapon formed against Your children shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We look forward to the day when the serpent will be bound and cast into the abyss (Revelation 20:2), and we rejoice in the victory that is already ours in Christ Jesus.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
